The food is outstanding, creative, and delicious. The quietness of the small room and absence of the usual restaurant commotion makes the food stand out even more, which is the way it should be.
Chef Nugent and his wife Nina do an amazing job in creating a delicious & beautifully plated dinner. We had a wonderful time.

We had a wonderful experience at Goosefoot! Nina and Chris Nugent are offering wonderful cuisine and hospitality there. Nina welcomes each guest as if they are coming into their home. The courses are very creative and awe inspiring. It is like sculpture being delivered to your table. It was delightful to have the Beatles theme as an added source of entertainment.
I really enjoyed the foie gras mousse, scallops and winter beef. There is a sense of mischievousness and delight in the experience. Would highly recommend especially for a special occasion.

I’ve been to Goosefoot multiple times and it never disappoints. We went for my sister’s birthday and Nina and Chris made sure it was a special night! They welcome you into their “home” and the food and presentations were amazing. I loved the whimsical Beatles theme, too. Go!!!
What a wonderful dining experience that Chris and Nina put together. They are such gracious hosts and the meal is creative and exceptional in every way. They welcome you into the restaurant in a way that I’ve never experienced before in a fine dining establishment. You will thoroughly enjoy the experience if you’re lucky enough to ever get a reservation.
An absolutely unique place with a wonderful atmosphere, personal touch, and a very good food. The place is small, only 8 tables. Single 6:30 sitting with pre-fix menu consisting of 13 small dishes. Appetizers and soups are outstanding, pastries are good, a few accompanying non-alcoholic drinks ( not really drinks, just are in a liquid served in a special container(?) are in my opinion comparatively less interesting. It is BYOB (which is great) but you could buy wine in the neighboring store under the same Goosefoot name.
A couple, Nina and Chris Nugent, run the place and it feels you are a guest to their family, not a restaurant patron. Nina meets you at the entrance, she serves all meals and she prepares an expected show that combines music, food, and personal experiences. Chris appeared at the end and be prepared for unexpected conversations.
Food was very good but the service was very slow and turned almost strange. Unfortunately not worth the price.

The best meal we had! Chef Chris is amazingly talented, his dishes are all beautifully executed and all very delicious. The maitake mushroom tortellini is exceptional. Nina is an great hostess, very sweet and very attentive. At the end of our meal, Chef Chris sat with every guest at our tables. They are very welcoming and truly made us feel like home. Chef Chris and Nina, More power to you!!!

Wish I could have given it 10 Stars in all categories! Certainly the best dining experience we've ever had in the Chicago area. The only place we've been that even comes close is Binkley's in Cave Creek (now Phoenix), Arizona.
An exceptional experience orchestrated by the Chef and his charming wife. The duo manage a small dining room with a multicourse tasting menu that is imaginative, artistic and delicious. BYOB helps manage the cost of the unique and quite memorable experience. Well worth the trip from downtown.
Goosefoot is in an unassuming little store-front location in the Lincoln Square neighborhood. It is run by Chef Chris Nugent and his wife Nina. I've seen different figures on how many people they can seat in a night, but it's something like 16 - 20. The night we dined there, there were five other couples for a total of 12 diners. Chris and Nina are pretty much the entire staff. I think they had one other kitchen helper, but Chris does all the cooking, and Nina does most of the plating and serving, with Chris also coming out a couple times to help and interact with the guests.
There were nominally 13 courses, though one of them was a 3-in-1 (with a soup, foie gras mousse, and palate cleanser served together on a display inspired by the "Starry Night" van Gogh painting), and the last was a hand-crafted Goosefoot chocolate bar to take with you.
It was our first time doing such an elaborate tasting dinner, and it's not cheap, but a memorable experience and definitely glad we did it. Definitely worthwhile. The restaurant is BYOB, so we brought a couple nice wines with us, but they also have a wine shop attached to the restaurant and will help you make selections, if you did not bring your own.

If I could give 6 stars I would! Our experience was amazing, the food was incredible, and Nina and Chris added so many little special touches to make my fiancé feel special for his birthday. I would highly recommend goosefoot to anyone who is looking for a very special evening without the stuffiness and sometimes cold nature of the typical Michelin restaurant.
This remains our absolute favorite restaurant in all of Chicago and we have been to +50 to include many Michelin starred places. Food is remarkable. Graciousness of Nina and Chris is outstanding. They love what they do and its reflected in the entire evening.
Found the pace a bit slow. Biggest issue was the service honestly became intrusive and off-putting
We had a wonderful meal at Goosefoot. The tasting menu was artfully prepared and delicious. The chef/owners/hosts - John and Nina go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome.
It was my observation that because of the nature of the dinner, each course is served simultaneously to each diner. As a result, it appeared that we had to wait for the arrival of a latecomer before service could begin. So we waited well over 1/2 hour.
That said, this delay did not dampen the wonderful dinner.
Chris and Nina have a fabulous thing going with their amazing restaurant. With a maximum of 20 guests possible, Goosefoot is extremely intimate. From the greeting at the door by Nina and then a visit by chef/husband Chris at your table, the evening feels as if you've been welcomed into their home.
The food is spectacular- each and every course. You'll want to close your eyes and savor each bite. It is easy to choose from the wine options they suggest to compliment your meal. We bought a half-bottle of champagne to start things off and then a full bottle of wine for the meal.
With such an intimate venue, there is one seating per night. All tables are served the same course from the tasting menu at the same time. The pacing is perfect once the last guests arrive, and you'll have a difficult time deciding which course is your favorite.
Dining at Goosefoot is a complete experience. The music is all chosen by Nina (no pre-configured soundtrack). There is a charming story to go with each course. Chris comes out to your table to serve and give you the back story. Each night also has a theme, agreed upon by Chris and Nina. Near the end of the evening, Nina sets up a lovely still life to mirror the theme. It makes for a fun way to close out the evening. That, and the kinetic paper cranes, seeds from their garden, and their very own Goosefoot chocolate, left us delighted.
An evening at Goosefoot is a combination of romantic foodie-heaven with a bit of performance art thrown in. All that happens, from the very welcoming greeting to the fond farewell makes for a true night to remember.

The attention to detail was beyond exceptional. The meal was perfection and simply could not have been a better experience.
My husband and I had a wonderful meal conjured by Chef Chris and hosted by Nina! Our favorite dishes were the ones featuring the corn soup and the heirloom tomato soup. If we could get full thermoses of those we would be happy campers.
I was very impressed by Nina; I mentioned that I had tried to get into a previous reservation with my parents and she remembered their names! We even sat in the exact same location as my parents, what a coincidence! She was a great entertainer :) Chef Chris was also very personable and charming! We enjoyed looking at pictures of their private garden.
I would only recommend that they may use a second pair of hands to help Nina serve food throughout the night, but it was otherwise a fantastic dinner. Thank you for a memorable night, Chef Chris and Nina!
Chris and Nina Nugent have reinvented the atmosphere dining! Loved their "theme" and appreciated Nina's personal anecdotal stories and how it affected their menu. Food was fantastic - tasty and filling. An amazing experience that we will hopefully have again soon!

This is a special occasion venue.. It's BYOB and Nina will be happy to speak with you about the menu so you can plan accordingly. The room is quiet and sophisticated with just enough room for about 20 people. Nina works the front of the house and Chris is chef extraordinaire. Both are amazingly creative and passionate and you will spend time chatting with both and feel they are somewhat friends when you leave. Nina rotates which tables get served first with the various courses, but all are presented within minutes of each other. This experience is for people who appreciate the extended dining scene. My clients/friends and I were ready to go by the end and I sensed other groups (not all) were getting antsy to conclude as well. Maybe because it was a week night. But I am very happy to have gone here and would recommend enthusiastically.
