Goodfellas Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
Good, basic "red sauce" Italian spot. We started with Mozzarella en Carozza with anchovy sauce, which we've had in many places. This was very disappointing. It seemed like they used white bread for the base of the dish, and the anchovy sauce was kind of vinegary.
For entrees, my husband had the Veal Saltimbocca (his "test" meal at every new Italian restaurant). The veal was very tender, but drowning in melted mozzarella. I had the restaurant's version of Veal Milanese. This veal was not as tender but the arugula & cubed mozzarella topping was good. The portions here are very big.
The best thing I can say about this restaurant is the service. Both the host and our waiter were terrific. Very attentive, friendly, professional.
First time at restaurant. I had read some good reviews on open table and figured it was worth a shot In Bergen county NJ it's difficult to find a good Italian place that offers both creative and comfort food. Took my wife there last minute on Saturday night. We both really enjoyed the food and the experience. Nice portions, good service, and tasty food with a BAR!! We were not rushed and made to feel welcome even as we could tell there were many regulars dining. We will definitely be going back to goodfellas and taking some friends it was very good all around
All I wanted was some meatballs...we were told it would take too long to make...they didn't have any made. Huh??? Service was average to unresponsive. Machiatto was worst ever. Had to ask for grated cheese at Italian restaurant...none offered. Wanted to LOVE it...it was ok.
The food was amazing, the ambiance of the place was outstanding, dim lighting, a on site DJ and very friendly staff. The price was a little high but you get what you pay for both in portion size and quality. My girlfriend had a malibu bay breeze and stated "It was the best I've ever had." I would recommend this place to anyone especially for special occasions, we went for Valentines Day. Lastly make sure to try the bread and dipping sauce, even if you don't like dipping sauce, give it a try, its worth it.
Italian, done right! I was there with my girlfriend for Valentine's Day. Though I used to live in town, I hadn't been back to Goodfellas for some years. Seems I was truly missing some wonderful Italian food.
We shared an assortment of hot appetizers (eggplant rolantini, clams oreganato, shrimp and the mozzarella Napoleon). Our entrees were cooked to perfection and were as tasty as I remembered. Polo Caruso with Broccoli Rabe and traditional Veal Parmigiana. This was followed by a holiday-inspired heart-shaped ice cream treat.
The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect from an authentic Italian restaurant, lights dimmed, Sinatra playing in the background and a charming decor.
The waitstaff were courteous and professional as well as very attentive. We never felt rushed and we really, believed they were glad to have us.
Had dinner with friends to celebrate Christmas--I've been here several times, once again not disappointed. Everyone was very happy with what they ordered. I really need to try something new, but I just love the pasta carbonara, best anywhere! Place was crowded, and they were out of a few items, which was a bit of a disappointment but overall didn't ruin the evening. Staff attentive, and we were seated immediately--we had reservations. Highly recommend.
For several years I have meaning to try Goodfellas, but from my home in northern Bergen County I always found an excuse not to go there. It was fantastic in every way, and I will definitely be back. The seafood pasta was specular, as was my wife's ravioli. Service was attentive and professional. No hassle valet parking made it easy as well. Highly recommend for any occasion and very much truly Italian.
Overall we enjoyed our dinner at Goodfellas. Our Cesar salads were very tasty and one of the best we've had. Our dinner entrees were delicious and the portions were good. My dinner could've been warmer. Our servers need a little more polish, they catered to me first rather than my wife and I reminded them, "Lady's first". We left a 20% tip and it would've been nice if the staff acknowledge our gesture.
My husband and I have been here many times over the last 16 years and we are never disappointed. Most times we go on a special occasion such as valentine's day (incl. this valentine's day) anniversary or birthday. My 10 year old son came with us for the first time and he ordered the steak au poive. lol. He loved it ( we did too). My husband got the stuffed veal chop which is his favorite meal here. I had the zuppa de pesce with white wine sauce and linguine. Yummy!! The service is very good. We like to get dressed up a little nicer when we go here. The atmosphere is nice and the noise level is adult appropriate. It's not stuffy or uptight but not really suited for young kids. Can't wait to go again.
My wife and I had a very enjoyable meal. The service was attentive, the food delicious, and the beverages were very good. Before dinner, my wife had a French martini which she thoroughly enjoyed. Equally good was the Flounder Francese that I had and the Lobster Ravioli my spouse selected. We will definitely return both for beverages at the bar and dinner in the restaurant.
