Gondolier Italian Eatery Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant is a long time favorite; we've been eating at the Gondolier for about 50 years, and the food and service have remained excellent and consistent. The spaghetti and ravioli are the best in Boulder, and the other Italian specialties are also delicious and interesting. This is a great place to relax, have fun with pals, and enjoy a really good meal. It's one of our favorite Boulder restaurants!
This was my first time there, and I was taking out a friend who had long lived in Boulder before moving away for her birthday. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food, especially the home made spaghetti. I thought the sauce was amazing and much better than anything else I have had around here. Highly impressed, and will definitely be visiting again in the future.
This is where the locals go... Need I say more? This is an authentic Italian restaurant. This is a great place to take a date or the family. Great atmosphere. We have been here multiple times and never had a poor server. Tonight 2e did not enjoy the server but she could have had a bad day. That is the only negative I can say. Great place
A very solid option for classic Italian fare. In a strip mall, but nice inside (and table service; no ordering at a counter or anything). Nicely decorated, clean and modern and casual but still nice enough for a night out. Great for family meals, with a variety of booths and tables, very good service and staff has always been friendly and accommodating. We discovered great happy hour prices on a limited menu of food--including their delicious garlic knots and their homemade spaghetti ($5) and salads. There are also things like all-you-can-eat spaghetti on Tuesday night (I think), so check their website for deals. A large and varied menu sure to satisfy even picky eaters (and kids) in your group--nothing super innovative or gourmet, but very good food and service. The pizza was also good and fresh. I'm reviewing the Boulder location, but there is a new one in Longmont.
I have been there before, and the manager was friendly and food was decent. The other night, was not a pleasant experience at all and probably won't bother going back. I rarely write reviews, even if bad, but the fact that the food was not even decent was terrible. The hostess upon arrival, was not very welcoming, & didn't even appear to hear that I had made a reservation. I understand that all special requests upon reservation can be given, but she sat us in the middle of the room, when there were clearly plenty of tables to the side. The server was decent, but not extra friendly.
Appetizers were good, but it'd be outrageous to mess up garlic bread. I ordered the special shrimp & scallop dinner. For $20, I expected far more than some clearly frozen shrimp & scallops thrown in a pan. No flavor & the risotto ball was absolutely not risotto & tasted like a donut. My companion ordered a calzone, which literally had about 5 pieces of sausage, and very little filling.
We will not be back.
This restaurant had a great Italian aroma of freshness upon entering the establishment.
The bread knots and dipping sauce along with our salads were good. Unfortunately, the main courses all bombed because their in house freshly made pasta was thick, pasty, and bland ruining all the main courses.
Our drinks arrived first and the cocktails were awesome. The food arrived quickly, piping hot and delicious. The servers were attentive and pleasant. The Gondolier has become the best neighborhood get-together! And how wonderful that they opened another restaurant in Longmont! Way to go! This is the best spaghetti in town.
The Gondolier has been a family favorite since the late 1960s....friendly, good service, an easy place to relax and best of all, they still make the same fabulous spaghetti and marinara sauce with excellent meatballs and sausage....the other "fancier" Italian dishes are also very traditional and time-tested...the lasagna is terrific, and so are the other entrees...but hands down family favorite = the spaghetti or the spaghetti/ravioli mix. Thanks for the continued great food and fun service!
Service was lacking. We had to remind waitress multiple times about our appetizer, which she never brought over. When our meals were served by someone else, we asked about it and he ultimately brought it over after we began main course. They did remove it from our bill.
The food was mediocre at best; overcooked chicken parm, average sauces.
Our first time in Gondolier. Often strip mall restaurants can be uncertain, but Gondolier was really quite good while being reasonably priced. "American" Italian is often covered in cheese. The two dishes we had both tasted more like real Italian. And if you get a table near the window, you are looking at the mountains. A nice find in Boulder.
This restaurant was unexpectedly excellent and very moderately priced. The homemade pasta was outstanding as were the salads. The variety was also really good and made deciding what to have harder than usual. Our waiter was great and my friend really liked the house wine. I will go back on my next trip to Boulder.
This gem is tucked away in a quiet strip mall but do not let that stop you. The food is so delicious. The menu varied with mostly incredible Italian dishes that are mouth watering. Our service was impeccable. We found the place from the internet but will definitely return the next time we are in Boulder. A wonderful experience and great value!
One of the few choices for eating out in this area. The decor is bare-bones and was not appealing to us for a quiet meal. However the service was very good and the pizza excellent. Interesting choices of topping combinations. Salad crisp and tasty. Good choice of wines. Recommend that they add tablecloths to create a warmer feel to the wooden decor.
This was my 5th visit to the Gondolier. It is a dependable eatery, which satisfies varied tastes. Our waiter was delightful and good about recommending different dishes. The front area where we were seated was a little too noisy for my taste, but my friends, who had not eaten there prior to this date, took the table which was offered to them. I would recommend sitting in the area in the back part of the restaurant because it is quieter, with lower lighting.
The food is excellent. For vegetarians, I highly recommend the eggplant parmigiana! It is cooked crispy, not mushy or oily, like some places where I have eaten it. The small size salads are substantial, and unless you're very hungry, they are satisfying. The house made pasta is excellent!
I highly recommend the Gondolier to anyone in the Boulder area who is looking for excellent Italian cuisine.
