Golf's Steak House & Seafood Ratings and Reviews
the food as always was delicious. However, there was such a long wait for the food to arrive, everyone, including my two grandchildren, were getting antsy. The waitress came to our table and explained that there was a party of 40 in the restaurant and thus the delay. Our reservation was for 5 o'clock and we left the restaurant at 7:30 pm.
Was a Birthday dinner, our waitress was wonderful and the room set aside for our party of 9 which included 3 children allowed them to move around without disturbing other patrons.
The food was good, however, prices were not in line with what Open Table posted on the website. Perhaps you should update. The pictures of the salad bar were not indicative of the offering.
All said everyone enjoyed themselves.
Very disappointed!! We have been going to Golfs for over 30 years and always enjoyed it and recommended it highly to friends and family. Not now! It used to be high quality food with a great ambiance (quiet, relaxing, great service). Now it is very noisy, tables appear closer together and the waitress appeared to be rushing us. The food was also below expectations. My lamb was almost "blue" when I had ordered it medium rare. I had to send it back. My husband's ribs were very dry and he did not enjoy them. He orders ribs everywhere so he is a pretty good judge. My daughter had the seafood platter. The lobster looked gorgeous but had absolutely no flavor and even tasted "odd". No seasoning on the lobster and very little seasoning on the scallops and shrimp. The waitress did not bring the butter for the lobster and when she did (after asking) it was just plain melted butter with no seasoning. My daughter's fiance had steak and he was underwhelmed saying he had much better food and ambiance at the Keg in Waterloo. This was a special occasion (daughter got engaged) and we were very disappointed with our evening at Golfs. It has changed a lot!
We had a very nice family gathering to celebrate my daughters birthday at Golf`s. The service was very good, the meals were good portions and the atmosphere was perfect for that type of gathering. I would recommend this restaurant for casual dinning where you are able to have a good conversation without feeling that you are disturbing other patrons.
Went for New Year's dinner. Server was friendly, but getting drinks and food was very slow. Then we felt like we were being pushed out for the next seating. (Not our fault food took along time to come out). Ordered medium rare steak, but it was well done. I didn't send it back because the service was slow. Nobody at our table (5 of us) enjoyed their food. Very disappointing.
I always enjoy the Golf's. The food is excellent and the servers seem to be career professionals, as opposed to the college and university student servers you find at lesser establishments. Our waitress, Martha, was top notch. Friendly, attentive, polite, and got all of our orders correct. I took my parents out for a Christmas dinner on a Friday night along with my wife and our two adult children. It was quite noisy since there were many other groups around us, but we didn't mind. If you were looking for a quiet atmosphere, perhaps they could seat you in a more private area. It is a large place. The food is quite expensive but the Golf's is marketed as an upscale steakhouse, so this is to be expected. We had about five alcoholic drinks in total at our table with and no deserts and with tax and tip it was about 50 a person. I would recommend the Golf's for a special occasion. They are very consistent and high quality but I could not afford to visit very often. PS...I also highly recommend their Sunday brunch buffet. The food selection and quality can't be beat and it is a good value for the dollar. Make sure to have a reservation.
In our past experience the food was great. I guess because it was so near Christmas and it was so busy, food wasn't that impressive. My husband and I had prime rib - was served on the colder side, mashed potatoes had a crust formed over them, like they were prepped before hand and assembled during dinner. My father in law had the chicken cordon blue and he said it was really good. Server was at our table almost immediately, but I guess there was a shortage of menus due to the large tables and we waited approximately 5 minutes before we received any. We were not so impressed with the Salad Bar - items were very blah! Like I mentioned before we have always had positive experiences at Golf and will definitely go back again. If we find no improvement, than we will stop going.
Went for mom 75th birthday. Great consistent food as always. Wonderful salad bar. Great value on the chicken cordon blue and prime rib as well as filet of soul. Been going there around Christmas for near 40 years. They gave my mom a slice of cake on the house for her birthday. Let my daughter run the remote for the train set. We love thing there.
We visited during Dec 21 2017 during which I am sure was a Christmas busy season and the speed of table service and food prep was outstanding.
The online menu was out of date from the in house menu pricing.
However the manager honoured the online pricing which was great customer service. We will be back!
Very negative experience for a restaurant that we were waiting a long time to try.
We waited for over 10 minutes at the host stand with several employees passing us by with not a single one even saying hello or asking us if we had been helped. When we finally were attended to they could not find our reservation and acted like they were doing us a favour by still seating us.
When we were finally seated we waited a full 15 minutes before a server had to be fetched. I literally had to get up and go find a server and ask if anyone was going to come over and even say hello to us or if we should just leave.
The server was apologetic and I’m inclined to forgive mistakes but we’ve now been waiting 1/2 an hour almost in total and we don’t even have a glass of water yet.
Food was extremely ordinary given the relatively high prices. Chicken marsala is not breaded and marsala sauce is not just basically gravy. We were given chicken schnitzel with gravy on it. The side orders were screwed up of course. Our appetizers were incorrect and delivered to the wrong people
Salad bar was not being refreshed quickly enough at closer to closing, there was a good amount of browning lettuce
I don’t leave bad reviews lately or hardly ever. This place is extremely overrated, expensive and had some of the worst service I’ve ever had.
We did not like the table we were at. It was in the back and my chair was out in the stairs from the other room. I asked if we would be bothered by people coming down for the salad bar and was told no they didn’t use that room, but it was full of people. Also we could not even carry on a conversation between the two of us for the noise. We just ate our meal and left because there was no point in staying any longer than need be. Other people that did not have reservations before us got to sit out in the sunroom which would have been better. Not happy
Dinner was excellent and so was our server. Was extremely disappointed in how we were seated. It was a group of 14 with a round table put on the end of square tables. The person between the square and the round had to eat on a corner with a gap. We were also very squished together to be comfortable since some of the attendees were a little larger. Made getting in and out of the seats a struggle since they were are to arm together..
The food and the service was very good....this has been my favourite restaurant for over 30 years.
However....we went for the Monday night special of $16.95 (16 of us) only to be told when we got there that they don't offer the special in December.... that was disappointing. We specifically picked Monday so that people that could not normally afford a higher priced meal could experience Golfs.
Also being a large group, we were packed in like sardines, it was very hard to get in and out of the table.
My boyfriend and I were visiting the Kitchener area and decided to go out for a great steak dinner and apparently this restaurant had an amazing view. We booked online and went over.
The interior is very festive but the window view was a baseball diamond and rear parking lot, if we leaned to the side we could see the river. When it became dark the rear flood lights came on and at that point all we could see was snow.
We ordered our meals and out came 2 overdone steaks with little flavor and Luke warm mash and semi warm veggies.
The waitress insisted on bringing out a new plate which was much hotter but did lack flavor.
All in all I would not recommend this restaurant but the waitress provided exceptional service.
Food was excellent as always. Ambience lovely as well. However, part way through our meal, I mentioned to my 2 companions that I was feeling rushed by our waitress. They both agreed they had noticed it as well. There was no conversation from her other than specifically pertaining to taking our food orders which we noticed as unusual from some of your other staff, both this time and on previous occasions. Nevertheless, she was efficient bringing our meals. We have been enjoying dining at Golf's for many years and will continue to do so.
