Approachable sophisticated Pacific Northwest cuisine, simply prepared using the finest regional ingredients and served in a dining room with maritime-inspired design and sweeping views of Elliott Bay.

Ethan Stowell and Four Seasons Hotel Seattle are thrilled to announce the name of their new restaurant collaboration: Goldfinch Tavern. Named for the state bird of Washington, the American goldfinch.

The upscale tavern pays homage to the city’s pioneer days, when taverns catered to lumberjacks and sailors alike, providing a place for travelers and locals to both socialize and conduct business, all while enjoying drinks and food.

Overall good experience - Had a mix of happy hour and dinner menu items. The good: Great choices on happy hour menu; great happy hour oysters; great service; great tasting food. The not-so-good: Restaurant is really dark (OK when eating but hard when trying to read the menu); Parking is expensive; and portions are small ($30 black cod was two portions of maybe 2 oz each with no starch included). Would recommend for an upscale happy hour date or a special occasion.

My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant for Valentine's Day and had a great experience! The tables each had one long stemmed red rose, which was a really nice touch! The menu was a 4 course menu specifically for Valentine's Day, which was $95 per person. The first 2 courses were shared appetizers that were pretty substantial and included oysters, bruschetta, pork belly, pasta and some other things. The desserts were also amazing! The main course was pretty good.

The ambience and service at this restaurant are great. It is a high end restaurant that still keeps a casual atmosphere without being sloppy, which is why this is a great restaurant for special occasions but also for a night out to dinner. I want to try their brunch menu next!

We went on Valentine's Day expecting the normal Ethan Stowell experience, but were incredibly disappointed. The food tasted very "assembly line" and posts of the preparation were completely left off (dressings, etc).

Appetizers were dry and bland. Valentines meal was overpriced for quality.

Food took a long time to arrive, seemed like our waiter thought we had all the time in the world. 1 dish (wife’s) pasta came out not cooked enough, we sent it back. my burger and fries were excellent but I did not want to eat without my wife , so we talked and my food got cold, waiter did not seem to care and didn’t offer to warm my plate or give my wife something to nibble on while waiting for her dish. It took for ever for her dish to come back out. Waiter was oblivious to our waiting. Ran into asst mgr when leaving and he ask how everything was, I hesitated but told him what our experience was like, he didn’t seem to care, he could have offered to discount our bill, offer us a free appatizer for next time, but nothing. We will not be back.

Food was excellent. The Ct opus appetizer was so wonderful I could have eaten a whole plate of it. The lobster ravioli and scallops were also excellent. The restaurant is a bit dark but nice and views are great from some tables. Service was very good.

We have eaten frequently at Goldfinch and normally had a very good meal. The dishes this time were poorly prepared. The 2 pasta and risotto dishes were far too salty...drowning out the taste of other ingredients. An additional fish dish was overcooked: promised as medium - rare but more like medium well. I was disappointed that a restaurant which normally serves well prepared meals would under-perform on every one of our main dishes this evening.

Brunch menu. Eggs Benedict with crab was perfectly balanced, but needed an in-house bread Or brioche. Burger was cooked to correct temp. Service was on point, managed every request. Great overall experience.

Best brunch of my life!! Went for my birthday with friends and it was amazing. Bottomless mimosas, amazing brunch buffet spread with an entree plus they brought out a personal birthday dessert! Tom was our server and he was so nice, took our photo and did not let any of our beverages run dry. I will be back for another/every special occasion.

As I ordered a house salad and then the tuna for dinner, the man who took our order (our waiter changed after that, and our second waiter was excellent) asked me if I wanted bacon and avocado on my salad. I said sure. I've never been asked such a question before for a dinner salad, and just figured they were items that he was offering. When the bill came, my little first course dinner salad had turned into a $23 salad. I was so surprised and somewhat upset. I felt he had been very incorrect in (1) asking the question in the first place and (2) not indicating there was a huge extra charge. I didn't want to complain in the moment because I was with my very sensitive teenage daughter. I've gone to Goldfinch several times and had positive experiences, but this was so negative, that I doubt I'll return for dinner.

Very attentive thoughtful service. Food wasn’t as good as one would hope. Restaurant was busy, Friday evening, kind of loud. My duck was delicious, friend’s lobster ravioli was flavorless. Her dessert, chocolate cake, was dry with a schmear of ice cream. Server promptly took offending cake away, brought a scoop of ice cram immediately.
Location is great, so nice to have valet parking.

We tried Goldfinch because we had enjoyed the former Arts cafe when visiting SAM. The new version makes sense. Not inexpensive but high quality as one would expect. One nasty surprise was the $17 charge for "validated" valet parking. It's a pity they abandoned the former policy (4 hours free), at least for museum visitors, and their disclosure was non-existent ("yes, we validate").
The 20% service charge is understandable, but with that plus no break on parking, Goldfinch becomes a no-go for museum-goers like us.

Went for happy hour after visiting Seattle Art Museum. Oysters were tasty and a good value. Also Ordered crab cakes with A wedge salad, and a BLT sandwich. Both were a disappointment. The sandwich was a sloppily made bread bomb with two slices of bacon, a piece of butter lettuce and a 1/2 cup of mayo. The crab cake was OK but the salad was minuscule and virtually undressed. With two drinks and parking, paid $100 and walked out wanting to go out to dinner.

So...I have a high service expectation for anything that is associated with Four Seasons.. This experience was not great. I came here with my staff for a holiday lunch. The restaurant was not terribly busy. Service was slow. It took a while for our orders to get taken and a long time for a food... and when the food arrived it was cold -- I ordered the cod -.. It was probably a great dish warm... But the oil had started to set....It clearly had been sitting there a while. I looked around for our waitress but she was nowhere in sight. She never stopped by to ask about our food - I would have told her then -- -and we had to refill our champagne glasses. She showed up promptly with the check and stated that the gratuity had been included -- again not a problem but it made me wonder if that was the reason the service was so poor. For a $70 per person lunch I was disappointed and will not be back.
