The wine (alas, I don't remember as I didn't order), cheese plate, and homemade ice cream were amazing. So was the service. Unfortunately, my king crab and scallop entree was rather lukewarm and a bit undercooked for my taste. My husband's steak was good, but at $52 it should have been fantastic. So, while I think we'll be back, it will probably be for dessert, drinks, or the enticing burger (that neither of us tried), but not a full set of entrees. The ambiance was perfect for a date.
It was my sister's birthday, and she has only lived in Seattle a year, so it was our first fine dining experience together in the city. The meal was enjoyable, the service was prompt and the courses all came out in good timing. For a Four Seasons however, I thought our server had a lack of finesse in her approach to her steps of service, but the support staff were wonderful and the host made us feel very welcome off that bat, which is always nice. The food was delicious, but everyone at the table all found that it was too salty across the board. We will be back, though, Goldfinch. It was a beautiful space to dine in, and overall, we had a great time.
Ate here Friday after Thanksgiving. Had a reservation for 5:45, should be ahead of the busiest times for dinner but the service was beyond disappointing. We waited over 20 minutes before our drinks were delivered. Drinks! Not food but drinks and then they came in twos., my husband myself got our before my son and his fiancee. No excuse for this. Food was slow to come too but we were warned that the chicken and duck would both take a half hour. The food itself was delicious but service was what was left in our minds once we left. This is an expensive restaurant.... oh, just remembered, my son ordered the old fashioned that was on the drink menu for $19 and we had to send it back. It was heavy on the bitters and was really undrinkable. We are one and done on this place.
Ryan was great! I called to see about squeezing in a reservation at a time that wasn't available on the website. He took care of me and my party of five which happened to be a reunion of childhood friends. And he sounded pleased to find the table that hadn't existed and that we chose the Goldfinch to celebrate. The dining experience was terrific. Elegant but not fussy. We had a terrific time catching up and the food and service were delightful. I will go back and I'll recommend to my friends. Thanks!
We selected Goldfinch Tavern for dinner on our wedding anniversary. The staff were all incredibly friendly, despite it being very busy on a Saturday evening. Our table was ready well in advance of our reservation, which is wonderful because the bar was standing room only. Our server was very kind and made sure to welcome us and congratulating us on our anniversary. The meal itself was delightful. Well presented, beautifully executed and exactly what we were looking for. We were presented a beautiful plate of complimentary petit fours that had "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate, which was a very nice touch.
I'd definitely recommend for a special occasion.
Goldfinch has many great things going for it, a well trained staff, comfortable atmosphere, food worthy of sending a photo back home and the opportunity to trust the chef with an entree that includes a multi plate appetizer, a pasta dish, then a beautiful steak dish and then a small but welcoming dessert.

The price of food was high but we wouldn't have cared if the service wasn't so painfully slow. Because the service was slow it made spending that much money pretty disappointing
The food was good however, when we got there around 15 minutes before our reservation with at least half of the restaurant empty, we were told it’ll be couple more minutes. After it passed our reservation time we went back to check if they’re ready and the hostess said she completely forgot about us. What a great start to a meal. Our waiter was sufficient but that’s about it. Quite a let down to be honest
We love the "Trust the Chef" menu at Goldfinch Tavern. We typically dine here before performances at the Seattle Symphony, Last week's version included a phenomenal oyster, several great first course items (mostly fish and vegetable selections), an amazing steak with a superb sauce, and a great dessert. For $75, this is a great value. Service, as always, is friendly and efficient.
I love taking out of town guests to brunch at the Four Seasons, especially before Seahawks games. From the greeting by Parker to the service by Tom, the experience was wonderful. Tom took great care of us making the experience truly special. Tom thoughtfully brought the oysters to one of my guests after they were not available at the buffet.
The only part of the experience I do not like is the automatic 20% added to every check. I would much prefer tipping according to the service provided.
We visited the Goldfinch Tavern because of restaurant week. This was our first experience at this restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by the sound view which added to the ambience. The menu was also great - we had a delicious marinated beet salad, crispy duck leg and a chocolate treat for dessert (it was like a candy bar!). There were many good choices on the menu. Everything was so good and delicious. We also had wine. We loved the scenery that went with the fantastic meal. Our server was also very friendly which made the evening just great. We will be back!
We also found reasonable parking at the Russell Garage.
Grabbed a last minute reservation for a business lunch. The service was impeccable throughout, and we were in and out in less than an hour, without making any notion that we were in a rush.
I enjoyed the halibut while my coworker had the crab cakes. Both were excellent.
We had a great time here on our business lunch. We all enjoyed our food, two had the burger and two had the crispy chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was extremely greasy, and included really greasy fatty bacon *but it sure was delicious!
The appetizer we ordered was the shining star. MUST GET the Fresh Fig Bruschetta.....it was HEAVENLY!!!
The food is ok, but had some misses and was both expensive and generic. The crab pasta was quite heavy in a soup of butter. The hamachi crudo had a slight fishy taste. The vanilla sugar donuts were doughy. Overall we were disappointed with the meal. The service and ambiance were very nice.
Arrived 10 minutes early. Host told us table would be ready in a few minutes. 25 minutes later, after 3 other couples with 7:so reservations had been seated, I asked why we had not yet been seated. "Who are you?" "Oh, I didn't know you were ready." No apology. When we sat, he pretty much threw the menus on the table. That set the tone for the evening.
Waiter was fine, prrofessional. Food was ok but overpriced. Wine list was below average at best for this kind of restaurant and way overpriced. One glass of one wine was $65. The whole bottle is $95 retail.
We went during Seattle Dining Week. We ordered from that menu. And then we were ignored. If they did not add a 20% service charge we would have felt justified in tipping less. During meal, we were never asked if we wanted more wine, or how we were enjoying the meal. Maybe they knew the duck leg was dry and very chewy. Also never asked if we would like coffee with dessert. It was dropped off at table. We felt very unwelcome. It was not up to expectayions for Four Seasons and for Ethan Stowell.
Great service! Incredibly attentive service from a professional. My first time at this Ethan Stowell restaurant- superb. Should have known as they promoted my favorite chef in his empire(From MKT).
Salmon was amazing- really represents the best of the PNW for travelers. Glad he took this spot- and look forward to many more visits!
We went for Seattle Restaurant week and were thrilled with everything. Our table was in a great location by a window. Our server was really helpful and very patient. Cocktails were all excellent, so even though I don't recall names, I'm sure any one you would select would be satisfying. Two of us had raw oysters which were super fresh and had a nice, mildly spicy dipping sauce. The beet salad was excellent as well. For entrees we had pork tenderloin, short ribs , and clam and prawn pasta. All were done perfectly and in just the right portions. The desserts were all excellent so you won't go wrong there on what you order. The only real complaint was with the pricing on their wine list. I have many of there Washington wines in my collection and I was shocked at their markups. They could lower their prices a bit and definitely sell more wine. All in all, a really fabulous meal/evening.
We looove it here. We usually go after and exhibit at the SAM. We went for Seattle restaurant week this time which was a great value. Dumb thing we did is try to go prior to show tickets at the Paramount. We times it way too close and don't think we conveyed it enough to the server. We needed up leaving our car at the restaurant and taking a cab it was too close. Food was wonderful. Only BIg complaint besides the lack of respect for time is when out plates were being cleared the staff dropped a plate and fork. Then he left !!! He eventually brought a napkin after someone else cleared the plates. Sadly my husbands shirt it's a goner. The sauce of the pasta wouldn't wash out I wish I saw how mad it was maybe could have asked for something else to help clean hit oh well. Just was frustrating.
