Goldfinch Tavern at Four Seasons Seattle
Ethan Stowell and Four Seasons Hotel Seattle are thrilled to announce the name of their new restaurant collaboration: Goldfinch Tavern. Named for the state bird of Washington, the American goldfinch.
The upscale tavern pays homage to the city’s pioneer days, when taverns catered to lumberjacks and sailors alike, providing a place for travelers and locals to both socialize and conduct business, all while enjoying drinks and food.

Food is delicious but the buffet is very limited compared to other Four Seasons locations. Love the bottomless mimosas and the service is always excellent.
The "Trust the Chef" tasting menu is a great value! Last week's highlights were two fantastic seafood appetizers, perfectly cooked duck breast, and a whimsical and delicious dessert. The staff is great and the room is beautiful.
I surprised my wife with a Birthday Dinner and because she's recovering from surgery on her foot, I was limited on what I could do for her (I originally was going to surprised her with a trip to Hawaii) and after seeing this place on YouTube, I thought we'd give it a try.
We both appreciated being greeted by the Valet of which was very courteous and welcoming as they gave me the ticket and took care of us. We have a very nice view of the water and was nice being that the sun was setting as we were getting settled in.
Being our first time here it was a bit tricky on what we wanted, but decided to go with some familiar dishes for simplicity. She had the BEET & DUNGENESS CRAB SALAD for starters, and CEDAR PLANK KING SALMON for the entree. I went with the PRIME NY STRIP* 15 OZ with the GOLDFINCH LOBSTER MASHERS on the side (and out of curiosity). She LOVED the salad and was pleasantly surprised by the combination of the two, and enjoyed every bite. The lobster mashers came out and we both gave it a try, aaaand it was just okay. It wasn't bad, but I don't the taste/textures came together like it should have. The potatoes alone didn't have much flavor/taste to them, so the lobster compensated for it. Onto the Salmon/Steak. She liked the salmon, said it had a really great taste, a little undercooked, but she was okay with that. For my steak, I did ask for it to be Well Done, and it ALMOST was, but it did have pink in both the middle and on the side, so that makes it Medium-Well. I did let the server to let the cook/chef know, and usually I do send backs, but I wanted it to be a pleasant evening, so I just let it slide (as the A-1 helped). I did explain that I spent many years in the Army as a cook, so do know what it takes to cook a steak.
Outside of that, they made her a nice cheesecake dessert, which she loved so that brought it home. They also comp'd the Valet, and that made it even better. We'll definitely be back again to try out the buffet.
We celebrated my husband birthday by grabbing brunch here. We’ll be back for sure!
Amazing seafood salad!
Nice variety, and do not miss the lobster mashies (almost a meal in itself)
Expensive, food was just ok, small portions. Service was bad but 20% tip was already included...so kind of defeats the purpose. Poor beer selection on tap (no ipas)
We always have a great time at the Goldfinch Tavern. The room is warm and inviting, the food and service are fantastic.
Our server was so great and very attentive. The food was excellent, as always.
We live the drinks, food, ambiance and service. I have recommended it to numerous friends when they come to town.
It’s a PNW staple for us.
OMG!!! This is the best brunch anywhere, ever, period (and that includes the Four Seasons, Maui) ! All of the appetizers and desserts are incredibly flavorful, fresh, creative and gorgeously presented. The entrees were equally amazing! This feast is presented by the most polite, cheerful, competent waitstaff on the planet (and this was New Year's Day, so you know some of them were hurtin' too)!! This was a, truly, outstanding dining experience comprised of amazingly high quality foods overseen by caring, efficient and, incredibly nice people! I thought this was the first 5 Star I've ever given until I looked at my review from my last trip to Goldfinch! Nicely done All!!!
It was a very nice restaurant. The food was overpriced and mediocre at best. For $110 a head tiny bite sized appetizers to share did not meet my expectations. I think the best thing that I tasted was the duck course. It was cooked to perfection. Our service started off good then tapered off. We even had to pour our own bottle of champagne. At one point our server even apologized for not pouring our champagne. He seemed to be putting more effort into serving his other tables. Overall, I give this experience a 2.5 out of 5. Wouldn’t recommend spending $488 for this experience. Champagne was $125 bottle and their was a 20% ($77) service fee and $44 tax on top of that.
760 bucks for dinner please drive though....
Great service and food was awesome. Made for a great Monday morning post game date!
Had the Chef’s Tasting dinner. Everything, from the plentiful appetizers to the main course to the delicious desert was above par. Will definitely do this again. Had been to the Goldfinch numerous times for the weekend brunch but our first dinner there. A must do in Seattle!
I had a lovely lunch with a dear friend who I have not seen in many years.
Neither of us had been to the goldfinch before and it was so lovely and delicious.
We had a table by the window with a wonderful view .
Our server could not have been nicer or accommodating.
I cannot wait to spend more than three hours in Seattle and to spend more time at the goldfinch .
Thankyou so much!
with warm regards from Canada,
Food was delicious! Service was great and attentive. The drinks took pretty long considering it wasn’t that busy but the drinks did turn out amazing. Only thing I’d change was the lighting at the dining tables... extremely bright lighting that kills the ambience. Luckily the front gave us another table with bench seating that didn’t have this giant light in our faces. Overall very happy with our experience.
This is my go-to place for special occasions. The food is always high quality and prepared perfectly. I also can't say enough good things about the service - very accommodating and professional.
We went for Christmas Eve dinner and it was fantastic. The food was delicious, service amazing despite being very busy, and the hotel was lovely for the holidays.
Mediocre food for the price. Clam chowder was very fishy tasting, crab cakes were very fishy tasting. Sauces were good. Burger was just average. Service was poor. After taking our orders we never saw our server again. Had to ask another server to get the bill. Not worth the inflated Four Seasons prices. "View" was rooftops and constant industrial steam covering the window.
The food has lost quality over the last couple of years. It’s also not the most friendly reception.
I ordered a steak salad and was served salmon. Took over an hour for meal. Staff need more training. Wine bottles left out on server station to expedite pours, but not good for whites.
Fantastic host who was overly accommodating and so friendly. Super professional
Quality of service, value, beautiful decor and polish all around, it’s a fantastic special event lunch restaurant.
Great Bloody Mary. The breakfast potatos are fantastic.
Excellent food and drinks, but it felt a bit overpriced.
Location and ambiance is great, first time back since this restaurant became Goldfinch Tavern. My expectations for the food did not match what I or the other attendees in our party were served - one person (she had the scallops) was pleased but it wasn't exceptional. We were a party of seven with two orders to-go. Food and beverages were expedited properly with a busy dining room and the to-go order provided at the appropriate time. My crab cakes were under seasoned, and I found cartilage - twice (unacceptable and guaranteed to ruin the appetite). Plus, the sauce that it sat upon was not tasty. My butternut squash soup lacked the creamy richness and flavor I was looking for. There were three orders of crab cakes, another person described them as dry. A burger was served under rather than the medium rare as requested.
Service was outstanding. Loved the pasta with the truffles
This is the 4th time we have had Johnny as our server. He is very knowledgeable about the menu and he goes out of his way to make sure you have a great dining experience.
Just weekend away
simply so excellent .... food service wine and atmosphere. very professionally run. a fun night.
I had lunch with an elderly friend. We always enjoy the Goldfinch. Service was excellent.
The only issue was the crab roll was served on a crunchy roll which couldn’t be cut, even with a steak knife. I don’t think the chef is from the East coast or the roll would have been soft and lightly toasted and buttery.
Our server was very helpful and replaced it with crab cakes.
My lunch was delicious-beet and crab salad.
This review is about happy hour. I was thrilled that we could reserve a table anywhere in the restaurant, because I know it to be always busy. Our server was excellent--beyond gracious. The food was delicious, as is always the case at Ethan Stowell restaurants. Plenty of options for "pescatarians" like my friend and me. We had the happy hour wine, and it was great. In fact, I bought several bottles at a local wine shop the next day!
Great service from our waiter Ryan. Food was excellent with a good selection. Very low key and quiet.
Wow, were we surprised by being charged for $12 for avocado added to a split order of a crab Benedict. The Benedict was $24 which was reasonable, but adding $12 for about six slices of avocado was outrageous. I also prefer to determine the tip appropriate for the level of service which was good I might add. The automatic 20% doesn’t allow one that opportunity.
Won’t return, or if we do, we will inquire about the cost of additional food items.
I have eaten at Goldfinch Tavern many times and have always enjoyed both my food and the ambiance. Unfortunately, during this visit, our order was delayed and very slow to come out of the kitchen...apparently a ticket mix up that contributed to the delay. Our server was apologetic and offered us a free glass of wine, but my father, our host, was disappointed with the service.
First, let me say a word about the service. We did not order the buffet, we ordered from the menu and were attended to by no less than 5 competent, courteous, friendly individuals. The food was wonderful. The three egg omelette with smoked salmon was outstanding! And I often eat omelets with smoked salmon. Yes, it was expensive, but it was an outstanding breakfast from start to finish!
Birthday dinner I really enjoyed the food
Awesome food and service as always. Leo was great and the rest of the staff never disappoints.
Love the brunch deal. Outstanding service by Leo. Great desserts!
