Great dinner! We went there for my dad's 60th birthday and they gave him a deliciously creamy cheesecake. The steaks were cooked perfectly cooked to perfection.
Very disappointed with the quality of food
after reading so many 5 star reviews, we were excited to experience the dining. understood everyone has a different palate, but the caesar's salad not good, escargot not tasty to 3 of us who ordered, steak was done correctly and tasty but very grisly. so dark in the restaurant so hard to see until you cut into you steak and realize so much gristle and of course the staff is used to 5 star reviews so they asked how it was but said "good right?" and left. hah. so ok, we finally went to satisfy our curiosity of rave reviews, but will never go back nor will we recommend to our friends in town and visitors. seems they are relying on their past and perhaps it is for tourists close to the strip who want a local oldie type experience. or maybe we just had a bad bunch of plates served to 4 of us that night...
The food is very good, though to be honest the steaks at SW are better. However, the atmosphere and value make this my favorite steakhouse in Vegas.
We had a wonderful experience, amazing food and service was spot On!
Ambiance was incredible.....really enjoyed the old world feel of a true iconic steakhouse!
We had never been to The Golden Steer Steakhouse, although we knew of its reputation as "Old Vegas". It was terrific with wonderful, attentive service and delicious drinks, wine, and food. I recommend it highly!
Old school steak house. Great ambience, don't let the strip mall location fool you.
Oldest steak house in Vegas (1958).
Had the top sirloin, medium rare, cooked to perfection. Another family member had the petite filet mignon, rare, also cooked just right. Family size side dishes were good, cocktails were tasty. Recommend.
The tableside ceasar salad is AMAZING! They make the dressing from scratch right in front of you! Fun experience! Definitely different and makes you feel like a local rather than a tourist.
Good for all occasions
Great food but service not as good as usual especially from host and hostess
We've been going to the Golden Steer for almost 20 years, on an annual basis. They've always come through: delicious food, impeccable service, and a cozy atmosphere. We'll be back again.
I travel to Las Vegas frequently and have dined at a lot of restaurants. This is, by far, my favorite restaurant in Vegas. I try to go every time I’m in town and it would be my #1 recommendation to anyone coming to Vegas. And I highly encourage everyone to get the table side Caesar salad! Best Caesar salad I’ve ever had! And fun presentation!
Great food and old school ambiance. Caesar salads are made right at your table.
It was cool to go and experience this restaurant but the food really wasn’t all that for the Money.
125$ for surf and turf! Good but not that good we came we saw probably won't come back.
Outstanding steaks and salads prepared at the table......Elvis and many other celebrities eat here.
We absolutely adore this place. Wonderful food, great nostalgia-laden ambiance, but above all, the staff make us feel like we're home.
Now, we travel to Vegas ALOT for work, and we had exhausted ourselves on all the faux overpriced glamour on the seizure inducing Strip, to the point that even the chance of catching a Cirque show or two wouldn't alleviate the bad taste it left in our mouths... That is, until we found The Golden Steer. From the tufted red leather booths, the waiters generally dressed better than us, history oozing from every nook, and the Maître d' who somehow manages to grant us every last request and remembers not just our names but the minute details of conversations we have had, Vegas has now become a pleasure, a destination to look forward to. Despite the drudge of travel, the long hours under hot lights and the buzz of a city that never sleeps, we now have the promise of sinking into a cozy booth with a couple of Martinis surrounded by people we consider friends allowing it all to slip blissfully away. Thank you guys from the bottom of our hearts. We'll see you all very soon.
Great experience and food.
Great everything. We’ll be back soon
Great restaurant..........awesome steaks and crab cakes. Service was the best......three waiters!
A very enjoyable experience in an upscale authentic Vegas steakhouse. The service was outstanding on a very busy night. We split the bone in ribeye ( cooked perfectly )and could not finish it. We were very satisfied with the Golden Steer
A true classic. Best Caesar salad I ever had and our amazing waiter made it table side
Golden Steer never disappoints. Great steak, good service and overall nice value compared to modern steak chains like Ruth’s Chris and Morton’s.
All items are ala carte. Made at table Caesar salad was very good. Twice baked potato had all ingredients mixed in prior to baking. It was tasty and big enough to share. Steaks were very bland and tasteless. The waitstaff was attentive with the exception of the main waiter. He was always in a hurry at our table, possibly because he had 3 business meeting tables that he paid much more attention to. I ordered a second old fashioned when steak was delivered and received it after finishing the steak and I am not a fast eater. He didn’t ask if I still wanted it, he dropped it at a run while saying “Sorry the bar is backed up.” I could see the bar, it wasn’t busy at all. Payment options only allowed for tips starting at 15% and up. It was decent food, but NOT the level of food or service I would expect when paying over $230.00 for 2 people. Would not go back or recommend.
Food was amazing! Scot was our waiter and he was very attentive. Crab legs and dessert coffee are a must.
We were there celebrating my birthday. When we were seated there was a delay getting our beverage order taken, then we felt rushed to get our dinner order in. We promptly slowed down the pace so we could enjoy our cocktails and meal. This experience was less enjoyable than previous visits to the Golden Steer which was disappointing to say the least.
Authentic Vegas steakhouse... great place to feel the real Las Vegas and entertain a client for dinner.
We were surprised at how loud the restaurant was. My husband ordered his steak medium rare and felt his steak was over cooked. The flavor of the steak was excellent. We weren’t rushed by wait staff but it was apparent that things were being moved right along. This was our 40 anniversary and on hindsight would have preferred a calmer more intimate feeling environment. This does not mean we wouldn’t recommend this restaurant but preferably for a more energetic type of celebration.
Great food and atmosphere. Wonderfully attentive staff! Loved the experience.
The atmosphere is old Vegas style. The food was very good and well prepared. The waiter was attentive and had no issue with splitting a check for 4 people. This was an evening out with friends and was a very enjoyable experience. I would return. This restaurant was recommended by a concierge at the Aria on a recent trip to Vegas.
Great old-school steakhouse. Highly recommended. Steaks were as good as any high end steakhouse. While not cheap, a bargain for the quality.
Food was good but not quite 5*
Food wasn’t correct for the price. Filet was tough. Crab legs impossible to chew asparagus very large and not cooked. Absolutely no seasoning on anything.
The salad was iceberg lettuce. Had to put plates to edge of table to be removed along with wine glasses
Beautiful dining room very very Vegas. Employees looked top notch and spoke the same.
Want to experience some old school Las Vegas gangster, Sammy Davis Jr, Frank Sinatra amazing places, then this is it!! Great food, amazing wine selection, custom cocktails and old school service, make a res and five in!!
Just consistently excellent -- every trip we've made to Golden Steer has been terrific.
When my wife first took me, I couldn't believe such a great restaurant would be in such a lower-end strip mall area on Sahara -- and I could not have been more wrong! Best steak in town, best caesar salad in town (a MUST - prepared at your table!), this is a "must" to do in Vegas!
Great dining experience. Old school flash back, off the strip which was nice.
Thomas (Sommelier) was great, he made our buinsess dinner experience great. Ask for him
Was part of a party of 7 there for a birthday dinner. The service was spotty and confused. Two of us got the wrong steak, and they forgot one of our side orders. The food was okay, but not what a great steak in Vegas should be. The old school Vegas vibe is really fun and was the one worthwhile piece. Not a great bang for the buck.
In town with buddies having fun. Wanted a great steak and ambiance. Found the Golden Steer on-line and gave it a try. Classic old style Las Vegas steak house. Exceptional service. Melt in your mouth steaks. The menu prices were typical for level of service we received and the food quality/taste made us not even bat an eye at our final bill. Highly recommend.
