Second time during November - as always the food was Delicious and the service was Outstanding! Party of 5 who all raved about their experience all the way home. Cold seafood plater, table side Ceasar salad, salmon and/or bone in ribeye - FABULOUS!
A Great Old Style Vegas full of history atmosphere, great service and food.
Once again, another fabulous dinner at one of the most iconic and historical steakhouses on the west coast. This is where the Mob met in the 1920' and 30's.
Food is fresh, well prepared, and served very professionally - but still allowing for a nice business casual atmosphere.
Thanks again for the excellent food and experience.
I was really impressed with this restaurant. It doesn't look much from the outside but it really is old Las Vegas inside. The food was excellent and the service couldn't be faulted. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for its steaks and ambience.
Leave the chains behind ....even the supposed nationally-acclaimed "plastic" steakhouses and casino restaurants and experience, feel and taste an authentic Las Vegas tradition. You'll think Dean is sitting at the bar.
Better then anticipated. Great service and the food was excellent
Golden Steer has great food, old school ambiance, and fantastic service. We loved the waiters in tuxedos and the table side Caesar salad prep. We will definitely be back!
We asked local cab drivers for a steak house recommondation and almost all of them recommended Golden Steer. It lived up to our expectations and then some! Excellent prime rib and the biggest baked potato either of us had ever seen. Cherries jubilee was the perfect ending to a lovely evening. We liked the team approach for our service as well. It all felt very special.
I imagine I was disappointed because I anticipated a really great dining experience. It was recommended very highly by a friend of mine who has very high standards. I assumed the steaks would be on par or better than Capital Grille, Morton s The Palm or Prime Rib. However they were more akin to Outback I asked for medium rare and received medium well, the Cesar salad was not much better than Olive Garden. They could also invest in some new carpet . The best part of the evening was seeing the memorabilia from the Ratpack heydays and the service was exceptional!!!!. Glad We sat in the same room as so many greats in the entertainment and sports world frequented. But I won't go again
Food was excellent. Service was very slow and inattentive.
We heard about the rich history of this restaurant and that the food was excellent, and we were not disappointed. It's a bit pricy, but worth every penny. Everything from the appetizers to the table-side handcrafted Caesar salad to the best prime rib I've ever eaten was excellent. Make sure to order the double baked potato with your dinner. Awesome. Wish we had room for desert. It's definitely worth the splurge.
Absolutely the best steak my wife and I have ever had. We were recommended the Golden Steer from many of the Uber drivers we used during our stay in Vegas. This is an old steak house with a lot of history behind it. The meal was a little on the spendy side but well worth the cost.
Amazing food and service and definitely a our new favorite steakhouse in Las Vegas!!!
Loved the atmosphere and history of the place. Steaks were sublime!
Great service by Scott and crew!
We found this place online and after reading the reviews had to try it. Old Vegas ambience. Steaks cooked to perfection. Waitstaff incredible. Loved the bananas foster.
Oldest steakhouse in LV but much better than the modern ones in LV
This is definitely old School charm & exactly what we were looking for - a place for a great steak with some ambiance. We've done many places on & off the strip but if you like Hugo's or Del Frisco's you'll also like the Golden Steer. It may be off the strip & on the edge of old town (Fremont St) but you won't go wrong in choosing this place. You'll get the same quality of meal but not at strip prices. A really good find that we will come to.
We were seated at a table just off the bar. Seemed like an overflow room when restaurant was not busy. Seems like most others went to main dining room. We were thought there was a strict dress code and were surprised to see a lot of tee shirts and tennis shoes. Food was mostly good, but very pricey for ambiance described above.
Golden Steer is always awesome. A great Vegas standard, with an old school steakhouse vibe. Golden Steer never disappoints and is a favorite go to.
Food under cooked, service spotty. With all the options in town, would not go back.
The ambiance was terrific and amazing shrimp cocktail. My wife's lobster was old school and out of this wold good. My large prime filet oscar was a bit lacking. The "smothered in crab meat" was actually a couple of small pieces of what appeared to be lump crab meat on top of the steak. The "prime filet" was very chewy and had an unchewable tendon running through it. A prime filet to me is one that can practically if not actually be cut with a fork. My filet could barely be cut with a sharp steak knife. I will order the prime rib next time as I always afford a new restaurant 2 chances before the blacklist.
A wonderful experience! It's out of the way, but was just packed (seems to be the norm). Still attracts celebs. Great old school dining establishment. The service is phenomenal - with 4 or 5 people, someone is at your table the moment you need it. Very professional, more old school service - they don't visit or joke with you, but are experts in the menu, the wine, preparing table side. We loved being here for a variety on upscale, fine dining. Food was really good - not the absolute best we've ever had, but combining great food and the experience, we rated a 5/5!
Very impressed - first time there on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. We were 10 minutes late for our reservation but they totally took care of us! Bone in Ribeye was FANTASTIC - not sure it was 22oz but it was tender as could be. Wife's NY steak was perfect. King Crab appetizer, was awesome; table side Cesar baked potato (shared) and creamed spinach, and Cherries Jubilee (shared) were all outstanding! Service was impeccable!!!
Great steakhouse with fat bone-in ribeye steaks and massive bone-in prime rib!
I opted for the King Crab legs this last visit and could barley finish the plate! Each leg came lightly seasoned and cut in half for easy no-mess eating, delicious!!
Great history of entertaining famous people in Las Vegas with booths named after them. Nice to eat at a free standing restaurant. Great food!
Historic perhaps... Located in a strip of uninspiring stores. The bar scene was boisterous, informal, TV's were blaring. The restaurant had two sections with one area more subdued in the back. Waiter's are dressed in tuxedos and attentive. The 8oz filet's were presented medium-rare as ordered. Wine was available at most ever price point. With the number of steakhouses available in Las Vegas my feeling it was fine but not great and for the money a bit on the high side. However I had to know!
It was a bust night during an event. Had to wait about 20 minutes longer than reservation. Didn't get drinks until after the appetizer and salads!!! Large wait staff but we where left out of the loop. Food was excellent, cooked to perfection. Check packaging on left overs. My dog missed out on a nice prime rib bone that the waiter threw out. Enjoyed the food, disappointed with the service.
The food, steak and steak and lobster, was very good except for my " wild rice". It seemed like
a little bit of wild rice mixed with regular rice , kinda like Uncle Ben's.
From start to finish everything was perfect. Food and service was awesome.
Had the 22oz bone in ribeye, which was awesome! Also had the twice baked potato which was ok, a little bland. Will definitely be back when in Vegas! Service and Food were great!
I was really hoping to find Golden Steer an old school favorite, it fell short. I am a big fan of Del Frisco's here in Las Vegas and I was hoping that the Golden Steer would be as good. It started out ok, we looked at the menu and ordered. I had lamb chops and my girl has salmon. The Caesar salad made tableside was excellent. My lamb chops were delicious as was pretty much the rest of the dinner. I was asked if I wanted another glass of wine with dinner and I said yes. It never came. No one stopped by the table to see if we needed anything. We finished dinner and waited for someone to come by. We were there a total of an hour and thirty minutes. Forget desert, I had to ask twice for the check. A restaurant of this caliber should be better than that. Needless to say I will never go back. Del Frisco's is a world class restaurant and the Golden Steer should take notes.
This restaurant has been around for over 50 years and now I know why. I'm Sorry I took so long to try it, definitely will go there again.
The food was fantastic and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. We sat at Frank Sinatra's table which was an interesting conversation piece. Their Filet Mignon was perfection. The only small drawback is the delay in being able to order, receiving the food, and getting the check; however, the overall experience supersedes that and I would highly recommend this dining experience.
Old-school steakhouse just off the strip - going to Golden Steer is a little like stepping back in time. Leather booths, waiters in tuxes...The food was really good - we had a filet and a pork chop and both were cooked to our liking. Sides were meant to share - the twice-baked potato was excellent, broccoli fine. Desserts were good - strawberry cheesecake for me. Extensive wine list - great experience!
Excellent Caesar salads and the steaks are phenomenal
The service excellent. The atmosphere/ambience was very nice
Good place with old steak house ambiance, nothing glitzy unlike other steak houses on the strip. Took clients there for dinner, steaks were as good if not better than more well known steak restaurants with better value. Would highly recommend
Food and service were excellent, but it just seemed a little too expensive.
This place is an amazing experience.
A real flair for old vegas with lots of history. The food is phenomenal. There table side caesar salad is to die for. The staff is very friendly and have some good stories to share from the history that surrounds this restaurant. We sat at Elvis's table. Are waiter suggested a heated cognac for an after dinner drink. It was fabulous, this was my first cognac, it was so good ordered a second one. I would vote this best steak in Vegas.
Fantastic food and service! On a scales of 1 to 10, a 10 all around.
