We had a wonderful dinner. The seafood appetizer was amazing! I’ve never had shrimp, nor crab legs, as large as these. The porterhouse steak was huge and very tasty.
It was a great flash back to the golden years of Vegas. The bar scene was good, the steak was one of the driest, non-flavorful steaks I've had in years.
Great service and food was excellent
Decided to go to an off-site Steakhouse as the prices at the casinos are getting extreme. Business associate said to try this restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised.
While the Bar are is disappointing with video slots at the bar and no munchies other than you have to buy an appetizer, the restaurant itself was a throw back in time. It was fun.
The service was very attentive and the food very good. Prime steaks and great side dishes and even the basic salad had a wonderful fun dressing.
Despite its location in a strip mall and a bar that is not appealing, I think most will be surprised by how good the food is.
Visited from Minnesota and received recommendation from a friend. Our reservation was for early evening, so restaurant wasn’t busy. Waiters were very knowledgeable and friendly, even taking time to answer questions about the history of the restaurant. We were in Las Vegas to celebrate my birthday and our wedding anniversary, we weren’t disappointed by our choice for where to have our celebration dinner. We would highly recommend it to others , both for the food and the history.
A place with history, everything from the impeccable service to the lost art of making a proper Caesar Salad table-side to the dark leather booths surrounded by dark wood screams tradition. If you want the experience of a old school steak house that cuts no corners hit this gem.
Absolutely love this place, love, service are fantastic....
Anniversary and b day
taste good, yummy steak. It's good to be there and I will recommend friend to be there
Amazing food and service!
It was a very nice evening until a large party came in and took over the dining room. I would have preferred to be in the front room where it was much quieter. All in all, great service and a delicious meal. Shrimp were huge, steak prepared as we wanted. Caesar salad - so-so.
The classic old school Las Vegas steakhouse. The Golden Steer has been added to our very short list of regular restaurants we'd visit in Vegas. The food and services was remarkable, as was the interior. If you're tired of all the fluff and fees on the Strip, give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.
The staff was friendly, food was great. Pricey like most steak houses but great for special occasions. Will definitely be back.
This is the oldest steakhouse in Vegas, and I think it hasn't changed much since it opened in 1958. It's very clean, well maintained, and chock full of history. Service is exceptional, as is the food and the wine list. When our Taxi dropped us off, I was a little worried- it appears like a divey little place in a less than wonderful part of town, but the instance we stepped in, that impression changed. If you're interested in eating one of the best steaks you'll ever find and being pampered with 1950s era customer service in a place that was frequented by Frank, Dean, and Betty, book a table.
Everything was ok. Food was ok, service was ok...it was just ok. The veal was ok, mushrooms and sauce all over it. My wife’s Dover sole was ok, they did an ok job deboning it. Daughters steak was ok. It’s really nothing to remember sorry
Magnificent. Like an old time supper club minus the relish tray. Loved the place. Food, service and ambiance were tops.
Got to sit at Frank's table. Talk about the history. Great food and ambiance.
Great experience. Food was fabulous and service impeccable. Ask for the Dean Martin booth.
I wanted to try this place to surprise my husband for his birthday. We invited 5 friends and were seated in a private room. It was fantastic. The setting, the service, the food and the history. We can’t wait for our next visit.
My fiancée and I frequent Vegas and we love the variety of excellent restaurants the city offers. We have been wanting to go the Golden Steer for years. We are so glad we did. We loved the vintage booths and the classic Vegas decor.
The service was first rate from the moment we entered the door. The wait staff was attentive and we took advantage of some of the suggestions from our waiter. Our steaks (a special selection and my frequent ribeye)were excellent. We also enjoyed the sides. We loved the specialty drinks and my fiancée loved her first cherries jubilee. This was done tableside-what a fun show. After dinner we went to the bar for another specialty cocktail. The bar tender was fun and told us some wonderful ghost stories.
What a great evening! Thank you everyone at the Golden Steer.
If you want a great "Old Vegas" experience with great food, service and drinks - this is the place.
I asked for my filet to not be butterfly cut and medium well. They butterfly cut it and it was well done.
I will not be back
Awesome restaurant!!!! Probably my best steak in the 10 years I’ve lived in Las Vegas!!!!
Started with an excellent manhattan. Bar service is good but pricey. Service was attentive. Started with Cesar salad. Supposedly made in front of you but my was made to the side so I could not watch. It was large and delicious. Might benefit from fresh Parmesan. I ordered their famous cheese bread. 3 pieces or bread with dry cheese. I would not recommend. The rib eye and asparagus was next. Asparagus was cooked well. Steak cooked well but very fatty. I know rib eyes have fat but this had extra fat. Wine list is nice and good selection if small by glass. I thought wines pricey by the glass. Dessert one of the few places you can get flambe. I had bananas foster prepared in front of me. Very good flavor but the pricey dessert wine highly recommend did not go well with dessert. Overall nice experience but very expensive. I have had better meals elsewhere for less.
Food was excellent. Service outstanding. Went for husbands Birthday and they really made it a special occasion for him.
Great old-school ambiance! Red leather seats in the booths. The servers are all seasoned , dressed in dinner jackets and provide the perfect amount of attention. Their Caesar salad is the best I’ve ever had and they make it table side for you. The steaks are perfect. There is a reason this place has been here since the 1950’s and why so many of my colleagues and friends recommended it. I, too, will be making similar, enthusiastic recommendations!
Golden Steer is a destination dinner location. Don't let the building exterior fool you... epic old Sokol steakhouse greatness awaits you. This is NOT a cheat date- you come here if you want top of the line service and you crave steak and potatoes with a hand crafted -at-your-table Ceasar salad and bananas foster. It has a mid century- dark/moody Mob-Boss feel. Grab a cocktail and wait in the bar for bit or make a reservation - totally worth the wait❤️
This is hands down the best steakhouse in Las Vegas. If you want an authentic throwback dining experience this is the place. The food and the service are top notch. To skip this place would be a huge mistake.
We really enjoyed everything and the people were great.
Booked a table for five through Open Table a few weeks prior to our trip to Las Vegas. They called to confirm the reservation the day of and were ready for us right when we arrived. The food was excellent as was the service and atmosphere. I highly recommend having dinner there if you're looking for a great meal off the strip.
22 ounce Bone in Ribeye was the best I've had in Vegas. And I've tried steaks all over the city. Twice baked potatoes are highly recommended also
Excellent as always.
Excellent steaks and the cherries jubilee prepared table side was the cherry on top!! Would recommend to friends and family. Will be back.
Fantastic food. Enjoyed the nostalgia and the history of the place. Felt like vintage Vegas. Expensive but worth the visit and will go again!
Fabulous meal! Excellent service , excellent food, excellent wine choices . Wonderful celebrations for an Anniversary.
Friendly, helpful, professional staff, delicious food. When you eat here you will understand why they have been in business since 1958.
Be prepared. Your server brings the credit card machine to your table, interrupts your conversation and says, "do you want to leave a 15% or 20% tip." You must let them know while they are hovering over your table. Their system does not allow you to write in a tip. Makes for a very uncomfortable situation. Said something about it to the owner, but he didn't seem to think it was a big deal.
Good food, great history / experience for vegas. Service wasn't as good as it normally is but they were busier than usual so that may be the reason.
I drive by The Golden Steer daily and I had always wanted to try it. I didn’t know there was so much history there. The waiter shared a lot of it with us and provided great service. The steak was nice and the sides were just okay. The drinks were average. I’ve been to many steakhouses in Vegas. This one is good, but there are others that I like more.
Made a reservation for 5 people for 8:45 and got seated about 30min later. Our original server was old and barely could understand him but luckily a younger server came and took our order and we were abke to understand the specials from him...the other guy just seemed to wander around while the younger guy did most of the work...strange. Appetizers arrived quick...calamari was just ok and other were good. Meals were all good/above average but definitely not great. One of the steaks was over cooked but we did not want to wait for another so they ate it. Overall less than what we expected...will add to the been there, done that list and steer away especially when there are so many options closer to the strip for similar value.
