Golden Steer Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
The food and service are 5 star. The steaks were outstanding. This is one of my favorites in Las Vegas. My only negative is the price tag on the seafood tower appetizer. It is very expensive for not a lot of food. I would suggest to save the money and find a different appetizer. Please do not misunderstand... it was good, just a small portion for the money.
Cool place. Love the ambiance, the history, the old pictures. We sat in the Dean Martin booth which was very nice. The food was good. I got the table side caesar, which was very good though I thought they could have had more lettuce leaves and less of the stems. The 12oz filet was also very good, though I have had better. Could be cooked in butter maybe to improve the taste slightly. The twice baked potato was excellent, and they threw in free cheesecake for the special occasion, which was god and came with a big candle. Although I think small things could improve the food slightly and it is a bit pricey, overall it is a fun and good dining experience, and should be visited at least once.
WE went for my husband's birthday. The waiter was attentive and insightful, telling us the history of the restaurant. The food was "old school" and delicious. Our steaks were perfectly cooked, tender and flavorful. They brought my husband a free dessert with a roman candle in it. Very unusual and very tasteful. Highly recommend.
I've only been there once so maybe I shouldn't be too harsh. The appetizer of calimari was delicious. The tomato salad dish was very good as well. Our entree of prime rib however disappointed. I was so tough & grissly It was hard to cut. We each ate a couple of bites & decided that was enough. When the server came to clear the plates I told him it was too tough to eat & he immediately took it off our bill without question. Maybe it was an off night or maybe I should have ordered a steak?
The food was delicious, but the service was impeccable. So many people went out of their way to make sure we had anything and everything we needed. They shared the history of the restaurant as well as the different booths. It was really awesome to listen to.
The restaurant has a lot of character and history. I wanted to experience it. The service, although polite and professional was dissapointing. My waiter did not check in as I was eating-- He handed me the check and did not even ask me if I wanted dessert. Cup of coffee on the house. Took my credit card, swiped it and I put the tip in there 18%... gave me the receipt and walked away without even saying thanks
Very rude and abrupt. Strictly for that reason I would not repeat
We celebrated my husband’s birthday recently at Golden Steer. We had an excellent meal and attentive service. The steaks were cooked to our specification. We also selected two side dishes, mushrooms and asparagus to compliment the meal. We also received a complimentary dessert in honor of the occasion
Great food, great service great atmosphere. The reservation didn't really work, though. Got there early but had to wait and then when my reserved time came I was told we'd have to wait another 40 minutes! I think it had to do with our dress-- casual. They have a dress code of business formal for the evening. So we ate in the bar...
The service was outstanding. The table side Caesar salad was excellent. The portions are very large. We both had prime rib, which was average. $175 for two people who don't drink is high for average entrees. Otherwise, it was enjoyable.
A true gem in Las Vegas. Inside gives a real mobster feel, the man who makes your Ceasar salad (which you MUST MUST order!!) will tell you all about his old customers. This guy is a legend. This is a perfect spot for a fancy night out. Enjoy fantastic steak and wine with your loved ones!
Service and food was excellent though pricey. With a couple of drinks you will pay $100 a person after tax and tips. Parking was adequate considering this was just off the strip. There was also a lot of history to observe and appreciate. Someone told me this was Elvis' favorite steakhouse when he was in Vegas and clearly a lot of stars have been there.
On the other hand, the booths were cramped and our group of 7 were packed in. If you are not thin I recommend you avoid a booth.
What makes an excellent steakhouse is ambiance, service quality and taste of the food.
Ambiance was ok. Rich dark reds, dark overall, not trendy. A real throwback. The restaurant delivers on this promise.
Unfortunately too loud. Had neighbouring table that was just inappropriate with management never saying anything.
Service was what is expected. Overall good.
Food. Let's start with tableside Cesar. It took the waiter all of three minutes to make the dressing. Not what I am accustomed to. I always look forward to a steakhouse that prepares tableside Cesar. My experience with tableside Cesar is that it is real work and a work of love in preparation as well as an art. Not just someone going through the motions.
As for taste of the Cesar dressing, lets just say I have had better out of a bottle.
As for the steak. Overall disappointing. Not as flavourful as I have had in past in other quality steakhouses. I had the bone-in rib eye and my wife had the NY striploin. There was no crust as one would expect with a quality cooked steak. Again flavour was just not there.
We had creamed spinach and twice baked potato. Spinach was a tad "soupy" and twice baked potato was just ok. Certainly not worth the $9 each that was charged.
Wine was very good. It was one of their house specials recommended by the waiter and it was truly good.
Desert was the Crème Brule which my wife and I shared. Somewhat runny. Flavour ok at best. Nothing special.
We would not return to this establishment. We wanted to try and am glad we did for the historical perspective. There are so many superior quality steakhouses in Las Vegas to choose from where you can spend your money and have a better steak.
