Always an amazing experience. Every time we are in town, we have dinner here. We love it!
Excellent service and great food. Carl is one of the best servers we have ever encountered. We will definitely return.
Fantastic service! Our servers went above and beyond. The food was incredible as always.
the atmosphere was very romantic, perfect for date night! the service was impeccable, the waiter was very attentive
Old Las Vegas, but not the service or quality of old Las Vegas. Fun to look at all the pictures on the wall and look at the red vinyl booths! But really overrated. The lobster was mushy, the steak ordered med rare was a bloody mess, the waiters were very slow on getting drinks to us TWICE in a timely manner. Snooty staff. Also ask for a table as the booths were uncomfortable for a party of 4. Really hoping this was better, as we were celebrating my husbands birthday! Too many choices in Vegas, so will not be back.
I had never been to Golden Steer before but after hearing good things, I decided to visit during my friend's birthday and we really enjoyed the service and the food was delicious. I would love to visit again soon.
I have lived in Las Vegas since 2004. I am sad to say this was our first visit to The Golden Steer but it will definitely not be our last. The Ribye was AMAZING!!! The Caesar Salad was better than any I have ever tasted. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was exactly what you would imagine it to be. The “oldest steakhouse in Las Vegas” did not disappoint.
An incredible experience!! Will be back again on our next visit!!
We have celebrated a few anniversaries here and this place is still as amazing as always .. don’t let the area where is it located fool you. A must see real Vegas experience. Amazing food and the best service ..
I’ve eaten here before and the food was very good. However the service was a little too serious & slightly uncomfortable, absolutely zero sense of humor with some of the servers. I have eaten hundreds of meals similar to this steakhouse and with the similar 5* price range. However, I have never been asked to punch in a pin number with a hand held credit card machine at my table right when I received my bill. I understand the convenience of the wireless handheld unit but the server hovering over me as he points out 10, 15 or 20% for the tip was ridiculous. I know what to do bro and are you going to be aggravated if you see me hit the 15% button vs the 20, while you stand over me!? I Always tip 20% minimum and he still received that, but I felt like he couldn’t get myself & my date, a first date btw, out of there fast enough. Even though the server was possibly having a bad day, it really made for a below average experience. Now that I’m thinking about it, he’ll probably see this review and be like a F that guy. But hopefully he can take constructive criticism and learn from this one. You can take a hot date out to a million different options in this town and for a meal that was almost $300, with only two cocktails, a shared appetizer, along with two steaks w a couple sides total & 1 dessert. After that service, I’ll be back in 10 years, if ever... ✌🏻✌🏻
Great steaks!! Asparagus was perfectly cooked and we had a great slice of carrot cake!
Celebrated 50th Birthday! Staff was accommodating and professional. Gave history of the restaurant which made the experience that much more fun.
We went here for dinner following our wedding. I love the “old Las Vegas “ atmosphere. This is a place that Frank, Dean, Sammy, and the boys went to back in the day. It is perfect! The Caesar Salad Man is fabulous!
Speedy but worth every penny! Great environment and good service! The food was amazing!
I have been to the Golden Steer three times and it was great all three times. The bigger dinning room is a bit noisy but they do have smaller room on request. The food was excellent. Everything was excellent!
Perfect place to get a piece of old Vegas and great food.
This is not a conventional Vegas restaurant. The ambience and layout are true 60s but modernised just enough to enhance the overall experience. Staff very engaging - we learned a lot about historic Vegas. Look at the website photos to see what you will get. May not be ideal for everyone but we absolutely loved the Golden Steer and will certainly revisit when we return. Thanks to all front and back of house for a great experience.
A long time favorite, never disappoints. First class service and preparation of meals. Even in Las Vegas it is a very special place. Richard
I had a business dinner and our customers loved the décor and history of the restaurant.
Outstanding steak and wine combo. Ceasar salad was great too
I ate steak and lobster. Both were outstanding. The service was impeccable. Great historic place
Service was excellent. Food was well portioned and tasty. Wine selection is ample but pricey, at least for the reds. I would recommend this restaurant to friends and colleagues. Interior is dimly lit but that adds to charm especially since this is the oldest steakhouse in Vegas.
Holy hell. What a meal!
Hostess that was the assistant manager (we were told)
was very sharp, rude and I found no professionalism in her interaction with me. Too young and I felt she was bey rude to me as a woman.
Rich with history and incredical service. This was an excellent recommendation for us and we highly recommend getting this place on your “go to” list!
Absolutely the most authentic dining experience in Vegas. You want a waiter that has waited on Vegas show people, go here. You want a great steak served by an extremely experienced staff, go here. You want plenty of staff tending to your every need, go here. Craft cocktails, here. Experienced bar staff, here. Get off the main strip, leave Freemont, and go here for dinner or drinks. You won't regret it.
For the price I would’ve expected a bit more attention by the wait staff. Had to ask for water refills multiple times.
We were celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary. Was the first time eating here. Family recommended it.
Best dining experience we have had !
Just a great old school steakhouse. Loved everything about it. This place is cool!
Quite pricey, but amazing food! I would suggest the signature dishes... Ribeye, Caesar salad.
Steeped in Las Vegas tradition - decadent steaks, and sides along with table-side Caesar Salad, and Bananas Foster presentations. Dining room a bit tight - a very large party was seated next to the booth area where we were seated - they got pretty loud after a few cocktails - was really distracting when they were screaming across the table at each other - ugh 😑
Alfredo and Eduardo, our waitpersons, were fabulous. Every was timed perfectly, and tasted delicious.
Anniversary & vacation
Great steakhouse, and vintage Las Vegas. Loved it!
Caesar salad was fantastic, steaks sides and desserts were average.
One of the greatest meals my wife and I ever had! Great experience!
This place was delicious. Off the strip lots of history here. Would totally go back.
The experience was just great! Loved the food and food service and ambiance. Quiet so you can enjoy personal conversations Carl was very helpful. The only two dings were the bartender who went out of his way to ignore me and the wine list....very poor. No depth of choices. The only Bordeaux was alow level 2014 Cru Bourgeois .
Had the 22oz ribeye, it was cooked perfectly but really had no taste.
To start, we had escargot. They were some of the best I have ever eaten. We then had a cesar salad that was expertly prepared at the table. Very entertaining and an outstanding salad. Then came the steak. We had a bone in ribeye that was prepared medium rare. To put it mildly, it was like trying to chew shoe leather. It was by far the worst steak I have ever tried to eat. And I say tried because it was literally inedible. I'm a big man with a big appetite so I will eat just about anything but I just couldn't eat the meat it was so tough. All of the other food was top notch. The wait staff couldn't be friendlier and the ambiance was fantastic. The only thing that ruined this dinner was the meat.
