Went for my husband’s birthday. Perfect weather for sitting by the canal. Everything we ordered was delicious (charcuterie, lamb shank, and monkfish. Don’t miss the salted caramel cake—excellent!!). Our server was capable, personable, and able to cope with humor. Enjoyed it all.
A wonderful dining experience. Food was delicious, good quality presented creatively. Wait staff was polite and helpful. Atmosphere was relaxed with indoor and outdoor dining. Love this inn with it's beautiful setting.
Great ambience, the food was very good, but the service was slow to indifferent. The restaurant was well staffed and not terribly busy, yet we had to ask twice for a few things, including orange juice which was then taken to the wrong table, and a cup of coffee that we watched circle the dining room with an incredibly inexperienced bus person before landing at our table. If fact a few things, including our main courses, were either taken to the wrong table or wandered around until they found the right table. However, a good time was had by all and we will definitely be back!
Have been to Golden Pheasant a number of times, and it has always been an enjoyable experience. Service is outstanding and food is creative and very good. Beautiful setting and we look forward to returning.
Always a nice meal at the golden pheasant. Nice drink selection, good food and great service
Looking forward to our next visit
Good meal. Respectable price.
We've been going back and bringing our friends and family over 20 years because it's consistently outstanding.
Always a good time. Most times are very quiet and romantic setting is a plus. Once and a while you get people who think they're the only ones dining. Overall, great food, atmosphere, and staff are great.
Lovely location and wonderful space. Food was nothing special and service was very slow. It has such potential. We were disappointed in our brunch. May try dinner at some point but not anytime soon.
Upper Bucks gem . Worth every mile of the 40 minute scenic drive up River Rd . Sat outside for a lovely Sunday late morning brunch . Mesmerized by the beautiful surroundings . Just a great overall dining experience .
A perfect evening! We especially appreciate the peace/tranquility/quiet ambiance. Excellent food must be accompanied by a sense of privacy in the enjoyment of the experience, which the Golden Pheasant amply provides in its choice of table spacing, low volume background music, and gently attentive servers.
Of course, the starters (mussels!) and the entrees (duck and scallops), were excellent as always. We are privileged to have such a jewel in our backyard, one that we will visit again.
We had fresh tasting Bellinis
Warm vegetable soup
Petite Filet with Bernadette
Lemon Sorbet with fresh fruits
Fabulous! Ambiance is spectacular...food is delicious. Another great time at Golden Pheasant Inn!
Next to Barley Sheaf, this has to rank as offering the finest food in the area. This exquisitely maintained historic inn is French oriented, with dishes that are remarkably well executed. Tweaks to such warhorses as escargots serve to elevate them to standouts, plus there is no shortage of creative and unusual offerings that are of comparable caliber. Desserts are good, if unremarkable, while the bar and wine list are first-rate.
When it comes to rustic scenery, at least outside the winter months, the Golden Pheasant offers arguably the finest in the Delaware Valley. It features a fairy-tale canal view on one side, plus a riverfront vista on the other albeit with River Road in the foreground. There's splendid and lovely canal-side seating, too, although try to avoid sitting out in the open near the garden where road noise can be disruptive. Service during our two recent visits was excellent, certainly at least as good as you'll encounter elsewhere in Bucks.
The Golden Pheasant also offers B&B lodging. Friends who were having a second honeymoon there this week were pleased with their accommodation, which at one end overlooks the river, at the other the canal.
In all, this is a wonderful -- even memorable -- experience comparable to some of the most pleasant in rural France, and it's priced accordingly. Locals we know indicate that most nearby folks don't relate to the steep dinner tabs, but instead hang out at the excellent and friendly bar and nosh bar food. Try this if you're just passing through and want to experience the setting more than the food.
Tips: First, back out carefully from the roadside parking spaces if you don't want to get T-boned by passing traffic. Second, if you're thinking of going, consider doing it soon as the property is listed for sale by Sotheby's.
Lovely setting on the river. Great service and Brunch fixed menu. We sat outside even though it was super hot. The garden and canal is just too lovely not to want to enjoy.
Food was excellent and Autumn our server was delightful. Highly recommend
The service was superb, food excellent, ambiance super. Love this place!!
It was wonderful!! The food, service and setting were great as usual.
Food was exceptional all around! Great atmosphere!
Very disappointed in the food . Only good part was the cabbage salad. The "infamous" onion soup tasted like sherry, not onion-awful, the Shrimp entree tasted frozen with an ammonia after taste, and my husbands rib eye was more rare than medium and flavorless and served on top of limp french fries! We were here a year ago and I didn't like it but we thought we'd give it another try. Now we're done.
Once again, Golden Pheasant Inn proved to be the perfect atmosphere for a get together with dear friends! The appetizers were delicious and the lamb shank was outstanding!
1) Menu was limited.
2) Wine was over priced.
3) Duck was old and fatty.
4) Wife wanted only a salad for dinner, waitress said she could have "a little chicken" with it. Got a large breast and was charged $28.00. Waitress mislead wife.
5) A long drive for poor food.
What a splendid brunch we had! Perfect place to get together with an old friend. Lovely staff, beautiful restaurant, fabulous food. Run, don't walk to this restaurant. It was wonderful.
Absolutely loved the Sunday brunch. It was a perfect day and we can't wait to go back!
We have been to The Golden Pheasant on several occasions (for just date night, dinner with friends and/or family and for Christmas Eve) and it never disappoints. We have sent friends there and they loved it as well!
We really enjoyed our meal here. It was our second visit and it was great both times. The servers were very friendly and professional. There is a beautiful view of the river or the canal. We did not choose to sit outside, but will definitely consider it, weather permitting. The restaurant building is very close to the road, so there can be some road noise, even if sitting inside. It is a neat old building. The hostess was kind enough to show us the rooms upstairs - all lovely. We would consider spending the night some time. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
This was not at all the meal we have come to expect at the Golden Pheasant. The setting was, of course, lovely on a beautiful night, and the waitstaff was pleasant and prompt. The bread, from Cross Roads Bakery, was very tasty. The “special soup” for the evening was reportedly crab based. It was nothing more than weak tomato based clear vegetable soup with strands of crab barely visible. The monk fish was well prepared but bland. The duck was both over cooked, but not seared/braised enough to render the fat to crisp.
Perhaps we just selected the wrong items? Very disappointed.
Beautiful and relaxing setting . Staff friendly and food was excellent.
Brittany and her staff really deliver. The Inn is charming, the service is exceptional and the food is outstanding. We love it here!
Celebrating a friend’s birthday- the staff was extremely attentive and even saw to it that the birthday girl had a candle in her dessert!!! Fabulous all the way to the soap and lotions in the powder rooms! The bar has a great ambiance as well...enjoy!
We love it here! We had a flight of wines, enjoyed sitting outside and great service!
We went for our second anniversary, and had a relaxing and leisurely high-quality dinner. The offering of starters was so appealing we in the end ordered more than we could eat for the whole meal because there were just too many appealing dishes to try. Our server was extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the menu, she was certainly one of the highlights of our meal. At her recommendation, one of us got the lamb shank, and it was quite fabulous. The other entrée was the seared scallops, an ample and flavorful dish. As full as we were, we went for a small dessert including their signature oh wow cow ice cream flavor, certainly not something to pass by! The main dining room is a beautiful open and bright space, an excellent setting for a special occasion like ours. Oh, and the cocktails were quite good as well. Glad we went, and looking forward to going back.
We are NEVER disappointed, no matter what season or occasion, with the Golden Pheasant. Bring a friend or couple that you would like to introduce to the best restaurant, bar none, in the Central Bucks region overlooking the Delaware River. Great food, service and ambiance. Fall in love.
We have been coming to the Golden Pheasant for almost 30 years. We have spent many momentous occasions here and often bring out-of-town guests for what is always a special treat receiving rave reviews. We even celebrated a memorable anniversary by enjoying a fabulous dinner then staying in one of their beautifully appointed suites.
We are local and the Golden Pheasant is a great place for special occasions. I think that the menu should be expanded. I think there was 5 or so seafood options but only 1 steak option. Everything else was A+
This is a great place for a nice dinner. All the food was very good. The service was terrific. We will definitely be back! We were also able to view the 4 bedrooms which are all beautiful. We're planning on coming back for an overnight.
Excellent dinners as always over the past 20+ years we have dined and on occasion stayed there. They were late with dessert, but apologised and made it complarmary.
Always a classy place with very elegant and delicious meals.
Food excellent as usual!! Service super!
