Have eaten here numerous times before but 2/11 was a disappointment. Desperately disappointed by probably the worst soup I’ve ever been served in a restaurant. Described as butternut squash soup one might expect a thick, rich, glossy bowl of soup that packed flavor. Not so, it looked and tasted like I imagine dishwater to taste. I strongly suspect that this was the prior day’s soup that was running low and was watered down to make it go further. Can’t believe that a professional chef could make something that poor. Okay so every restaurant has an off day but on sending it back to the kitchen was told that the manager had questioned the wateriness and under seasoned soup earlier in the day ..... so why try to serve it to paying customers ??? It was taken off the bill but I ended up sitting and watching my wife with her appetizer.

Another good dining experience at Golden Pheasant! Food and service are very good, and they use local ingredients. Good wine list, and ambiance is casual and enjoyable. Maria is an outstanding server! Look forward to returning.

Excellent service but the fireplace was so smoky we asked to be moved because our eyes were burning from the smoke. The soup was excellent (mushroom). My wife had the scallops which were a little over cooked. I had the halibut which was even more over cooked. Our bill was about $125.00 which, for what we got and how well it was prepared, extremely overpriced. We probably won’t be back.

The overall dining experience was pleasurable until we left the restaurant. The waitress we had followed us out to the parking lot and demanded a higher tip be left. Her approach was aggressive and off-putting. I said I would follow up the next day with a phone call but she wanted it taken care of on the spot. In order to end this uncomfortable situation my husband quickly took more cash out of his pocket to give her, bringing her total tip to over 20 percent. We had left close to that to begin with. We both felt humiliated and somewhat bullied by her behavior. It soured our dining experience there and ruined his birthday celebration.
We have dined at wonderful and very exclusive restaurants all over the world and have never experienced a situation as this. We felt the owners should know about her inappropriate behavior.

We just went to the Golden Pheasant for New Year's Eve. I've heard such wonderful things about this restaurant. The restaurant itself is beautiful but the food is not. My husband and I feel like we took our hard earned $300 and flushed it down the toilet. The soups were pretty good but that's it really. The salad we got had wilty lettuce and the balsamic dressing was so acidic it felt like my mouth was burning. The filet was so peppery you couldn't taste anything else on the dish. The worst of all was the desserts. The chocolate cake was so old. It must have been frozen and thawed out. It was so dry and crumbly. I really don't like leaving bad reviews but I just couldn't help it this time. Especially since we spent so much money.

Worst food we have had in a while. Very unlike our first experience. The steak was thin and yet raw in the middle. It would have been disappointing in a Bonanza steak house. The fish was cold. It felt like they were economizing on the ingredients so I don't give them long if this is in any way not an unusual experience.

We have friends we go to pre-Christmas brunch with for forty years now. Last year we tried this place and really liked it so did a repeat.
We all agreed the service, while friendly, was a little slow. The food was really delicious but I was surprised they actually served my lemon torte cake with a bite's worth missing from the bottom. When I expressed my surprise the server said, "I guess that's how it was cut." I sent it back for a full piece but then it was not very good which was too bad. The server was a nice young man and was trying his best.
Oh - also - we were obviously decked out in our Christmas red and greens feeling quite jolly and they first went to seat us in the drab room on the right, albeit with a nice working fireplace - but just plain and unfestive. So we requested and got a table in the bright dining room on the left which has Christmas greenery, a decorated tree, a fire, etc.
Bottom line - while we wanted to love it again we all agreed we would try someplace else next year even though the food was good and the people nice. Just missed for us this year.

A nice evening at the Golden Pheasant. They have their holiday decorations up, and a real fire in the fireplace. Oysters were excellent, cocktails top notch, as was the service.

As first time guests, we loved the restaurant, the food and the staff! It is a beautiful scenic location worth traveling to, quaint with class. The oysters were so fresh, the escargot tender and garlicky, the salads crisp and flavorful and the entrees superb. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the turkey dinner was delicious. But the Brussel sprouts could have been cooked a little more. The pumpkin cheesecake was divine and the lemon ginger ice cream was exquisite. Martinis were made just right and the service was first class! Overall, fantastic!!

My most recent visit was for the Sunday brunch. We brought relatives visiting from out of state and we all absolutely loved everything about the experience. The food was superb, the atmosphere was wonderful and the service was extraordinary. My wife and I have been eating at The Golden Pheasant for 20 years and every time we go, we think it could not get any better. But, of course, it continues to raise the bar in fine dining standards. I highly recommend The Golden Pheasant for a wonderful dining experience.

Brittany never dissapoints. Everyone should be thankful that Golden Pheasant and the handful of restaurants that exist like this one have survived with the vision of their owners in B u cks County. I have faith these few will survive the times and the Golden Pheasant is my Wife's an my favorite. Always a delight.

Nice ambiance and good service but the food was not to my liking. Beets and dressing in arugula salad were sour, literally inedible. Butternut squash ravioli were cheese ravioli placed on a bed of the chopped squash which was too firm and the tomato sauce was too overpowering. Not what I thought it would be. Other guests enjoyed their meals.

The team at the Golden Pheasant has always been a pleasure to see and work with! We were married there last year and the family and their staff pulled out all of the stops to ensure we had a beautiful and memorable evening. As we return for anniversaries and special occasions, we love that we can enjoy amazing local, well sourced food that is well priced and delicious. Not to mention, it's great to see friendly faces that actually remember you! We cannot say enough wonderful things about the Golden Pheasant Inn! We are loyal patrons for years to come!

We've been to the Golden Pheasant 4 times this year, purposely timing it to catch the different seasons on the river. We've done the Sunday brunch menu once and dinner 3 times. We were always wowed by the class, caliber and freshness. The staff always goes out of their way to please. Its an hour drive for us, but we look forward to being back many times.

We were thoroughly impressed with the beauty of the dining room, with large windows to view the canal on one side and the river across the road on the other. The host and our server were very welcoming, hospitable and our server made great suggestions. The food was all delicious! I greatly enjoyed the crabcake appetizer and baby lamb chop entree and my husband loved the calamari appetizer and the Lancaster steak and smoked sausage entree. It was a 5th anniversary/few weeks before our 2nd baby is born chance to get away for a romantic date and it was everything we were hoping for and more!

Three of us went to Golden Pheasant Inn to celebrate my wife's birthday. The restaurant has a beautiful setting. We had a view of the river but the other side of the dining room was just as good as it faced the canal. Our waitress Maria was excellent, very attentive but not overdone. She described the menu in such a way that everything sound so appetizing! She did not steer us wrong with all of the farm fresh items on the menu. For appetizers we had the heirloom salad, mushroom soup and their age-old French onion soup. Everything tasted very fresh. We had the salmon, lollipop lamb chops and the steak for our entrees. All were delicious. The steak was huge and we ended up taking half of it home. Maria recommended the smashed potatoes and ultra fresh green beans. Try to leave room for dessert! We had the blueberry pie with ice cream. It was the best! I would highly recommend this restaurant! I plan to go again for a special occasion.
