so bummed that this will transform into gastro pub.
I have friends and family in AA, and many others who struggle to obtain and maintain sobriety.

GastroPUB environment is not supportive of their efforts., so I will NOT be coming here then

Went in for Seattle restaurant week, our server was great and the food was amazing as well. I'd recommend it to anyone!

The food was actually quite good. The doughnuts and falafel were great. Service was a bit slow, but we were not in any hurry so were perfectly content. Bottomless mimosas are always a treat!

The food was delicious! I think prices were fine except for chickpea and lemon stew. 18.00 for a serving of beans...with no meat! Crazy!

My partner and I love GB. We take all of our out-of-town guests here and are very sad to see it re-concepted into the GastroPub next month. We are very loyal customers and will be back to try the new restaurant!

I appreciated the gluten free & vegan options listed on the menu. It was nice not to have to ask for a special menu. The french fries were fantastic! Our server, Matthew, was friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
The food was good but not amazing.
The booth we were seated in was comfortable with padded seats (Hate sitting in a hard wooden chair!) and a separate cushion for your back. Thank you!
Definitely will give it a try again. Also appreciated the free parking in the rear of the restaurant as parking can be difficult in Ballard on a Saturday night.

The food here is consistently well done. Never leave without the beef fat fries! For the first time there were a couple dishes that missed the mark (spanikopita was a bit soggy & bland, tuna crustini had a very fishy flavor) but everything else was delish. I'll always return because their consistent menu items are always fab and they do rotate some seasonal plates so there is always something new to try. Always yummy cocktails and a good wine selection.

Although it was specified that a member of our party was gluten free, and they ordered from the gluten free menu ((pointing at the selections) the restaurant served this person food that was vegan instead, so the person ate gluten until they realized. The food was poor (fries burned, chickpeas way too salty and not good) and the service took forever. There seemed to be miscommunication between the servers. Won't be going back.

We took out of town guests here based an a recommendation from my sister. I was completely unimpressed. My husband and I both had the Chickpea Stew and it was so salty! The server was just so-so and there was just nothing special or interesting about the atmosphere. Also ... pretty expensive bowl of salty chickpeas. We will not be returning.

Great place with a unique menu!! My friends and I shared a bunch of small plates and not one item disappointed us. We will definitely be back before it changes its tune and becomes a different restaurant.

We went based on many recommendations as a great Seattle brunch destination. As brunch connoisseurs, I don't feel as our experience justified the high rating. I thought the service was friendly, but mediocre. The waitstaff didn't notice we were out of drinks and water, and didn't stop by the check in for a majority of the visit. When they did check in, they only inquired about one member of the party's beverage, even though we all had empty glasses. The two gentlemen on staff didn't acknowledge us for a long time when we first arrived. I noticed there were other groups that also weren't acknowledged. It's possible they are used to a host(ess) and didn't quite understand how to step up to the plate during their absence.

We come to this restaurant often when I am too lazy to cook. It is fun with three or four people where you can load up on family style small plates and pizza. I always get the special cocktail of the day and generally have a great drink that I would never order. The service is always friendly and helpful. The food is always excellent with a changing menu.

Great food - interesting favors, lovely presentation. Every dish was excellent, flavorful, and satisfying. The trio dip was a tasty appetizer and the flat bread is out of this world. The gf version was also excellent. The desserts though, were sublime. We are a family of bakers and are tough critics. We ordered the chocolate torte and it was intensely chivalry without being heavy. It was a perfect combination of richness and lightness. Not too heavy after a big meal. The pear sorbet was incredible. Zesty refreshing and tastes like delicious ripe pears. Would highly tecommend

If you're into small plates and like Mediterranean food (like us) you must come here. The dips are superb, especially the pomegranate and walnut one, their kibbeh excellent and their spanakopita the best I've ever had.

Good was good a d service was just fine. We sat outside because it was a warm evening. The outdoor seating space was unkempt. The grasses in the planter boxes looked unhealthy and hung down into the dining space, the ground needed sweeping as cig butts and ketchup packets littered the area, the tables were flimsy and beat up. I was just surprised that a restaurant known for it's delicious food and that is not by any means cheap had such a poorly kept atmosphere. Inside wasn't appealing on that hot night either.

We arrived on time for our reservation, but were left standing for ten minutes before a host could be bothered to talk to us. We told them we had a reservation, but they never took our name and later claimed we had "no-showed" for our reservation. Once a host talked to us we were left sitting for another ten minutes while they got our table ready. There were many tables available as the place was not busy or crowded. I very nearly left. They seemed very under-staffed and to not really know what was going on from a management perspective.

That being said, the table service, once we got to a table, was fine and the food was very good. We all enjoyed our meal.

Food was great, excellent menu, service was disappointing. We were there for Sunday brunch and waited to be seated (and even acknowledged) for quite some time and then once seated didn't get approached for orders ages.

We had an excellent dinner on Saturday. The service, food and wine were fantastic. The wine list had great selections at very reasonable prices. The combination of flavors were very distinctive and delicious. Try the chicken, it is so good! The lamb meatballs were also excellent. More people should be eating here.

I go to Golden Beetle maybe 4-6 times per year for work lunches or dining out with friends. The menu is perfect if you have lots of different needs in your group (vegan, gluten free, etc.) The wait staff is very attuned to asking if there are any dietary needs. Food is delightful!
My only issue when I was there was that I was excited to find a large bottle of kombucha on the menu only to find out when I ordered it that they were out.
The server apologized and said she should have told me before I looked at the menu.
Then we ordered a beer and that was out too! We were just striking out.
I will still be back. Not a deal breaker for me, but I think attention to staff knowing what is on hand is helpful. ; )
