Gold Coast Grill closed for business on October 15. OpenTable should remove it from its listings.
There would be no words adequate that would describe every meal and experience we had at The Gold Coast. From the moment we walked in the door and were greeted with a hug and a smile from Stelios, to the fantastic food both in quality and taste, to the excellent service by all members of the staff, to value; all aspects guaranteed we would be back. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end. Thank you Stelios, Marika, Chris and staff, for all your years of treating us like family and welcoming us into YOUR HOME! There is much sadness in our hearts, you will be missed!!!
Unfortunately, I can't recommend Gold Coast Grill to anyone, as it is, alas, now closed forever. Once _the_ Special Occasion destination in Alameda, Gold Coast closed after their landlord refused to renew their lease. It was a great 25 years, I just hope that all the fantastic staff find new places to please their customers.
We were there Saturday, October 14 as they were closing their doors after service Sunday, October 15 after 25 years of cooking up awesome food and making the community a great place.
Their doors are officially close
We are truly going to miss this great local restaurant, The Gold Coast, and we are devastated that they are closing, after 25 years.. The owners and entire staff, made this little restaurant, more than local gem, the food was always expertly prepared, the service was excellent, they truly care about their customers. Each time we dined, we were made to feel like we were part of their family.
Last night was no exception, a delightful meal, our good friend, ordered the grilled New York steak,my husband ordered the "house speciality, the rack of lamb, and I ordered the lamb shank, all were cooked perfectly and paired with bottle of Cabernet. We are grateful that we had the opportunity to get back to see everyone and thank them before they close.
Great dining experience. The bad news is they will no longer be in business after October 15, 2017.
The restaurant recently closed and the community is going to miss it. It was a real Alameda townie restaurant with good food, drinks and ambience. The owners were very nice people. There were lots of regular patrons.
I've been coming to the Gold Coast for years and it has only gotten better with age. We went on a Saturday night and the restaurant was filled but we had a reservation and were seated within five minutes. The food was amazing and our waiter, Ron, was fantastic, even though he was busy with quite a few tables. He made a great wine recommendation and gave a generous pour on the glass I had. I love the ambience there as there is a level of conversation and noise but it is never too loud to prevent you from talking to your table companion(s). The dining room is warm and inviting and the seating is comfortable. Sadly, the Gold Coast will be closing it's doors forever the end of October. I will be so sorry to lose this neighborhood gem!
As this restaurant Will be closing it's doors October 15 move chosen to have a few more dinners here before they close their doors. They cater a wedding and we have wonderful memories here at this restaurant. Peace be with everyone
It's time to say good by has come. Rushed service, not particularly interesting food.
As usual, Gold Coast didn't fail to impress. Thank you
We hadn't been for a couple of months and it was awesome as always! Service was outstanding, timely and very friendly.
There were four in our party - two couples. We have been to Gold Coast a few times and never had a bad meal or unacceptable service. The pianist played delightful tunes, the waiter was very good as was the food. We would definitely go again as many restaurants these days think they must have loud background music and that is not enjoyable for us as we are there with friends to catch up.
We've eaten at Gold Coast may times over the last 25 years and never had a meal that wasn't very good. Whether it's Greek, Italian, Seafood, a nice steak or my favorite burger in Alameda they've never let us down. The service is attentive and they make a fine martini.
Have neen to the Gold Coast many times. Last night was a bit off. I ordered Veal Scaloppini. Hav ordered it before. Always been tasty . Last night my Veal and my husband's lamb shank lacked flavor. They were both covered with a brown gravy . Not good. We will try again.
We made the reservation for Monday August 7th for my mother-in-laws birthday. She was meeting us there from Albany. She just turned 78 so her driving that far is only done when there is a good reason. When we arrived we found that they are not even open on Mondays. We were very disappointed to say the least. We had to find another place, which we did, in Berkeley, but it was really bad that our reservation was accepted when they weren't even open.
Good local restaurant with an interesting menu. We celebrated my wife's birthday.
I dined at the a Gold Coast with two very good friends on a Friday night. All three of us had the Petrale Sole and a Ceaser salad. The fish was cooked perfect and was very fresh. The salad was also good. The service was excellent. My only complaint was the volume of the piano music. A bit loud.
What a nice evening! I had dinner with two other people here. Gold Coast was clean, friendly and upscale. You could do a romantic dinner or a business dinner here. It looked like the way Horatio's in San Leandro use to look (now Horatio's looks& feels like an Apple Bee's) double points for a double review!
I ordered Sauteed Chicken Brest Picatta, the chicken was juicy/tender and a side of yellow rice & mix veggies (my other two friends had the same garnishments for their Eggplant Parmigiana dishes.
The food was 5 starts
The service was 4 starts -had to wait to take food order & had to ask for water refills.
All In All, we sat down @ 6:45 pm and left @ 9:30, it was a relaxing and enjoyable evening with a great meal.
3 people, 2 starters, 5 drinks, 3 dinners, 2 deserts & 1 cappuccino $145
PS-The Chocolate Mousse was heaven-see my picture!
Went to dinner for my boyfriend's birthday! Great food! Great service!!
The servers kept trying to take out plates away even though we weren't through eating. One of the best things about the restaurant has always been that you don't feel rushed to finish and leave.
Consistently good, we dine here every time we visit the area. The Greek dishes are authentic and delicious!
Great food & friendly service. We had really table where my girlfriends & I got visit without the staff making feel we had to leave.
It is a comfortable atmosphere to dine and just relax. We always have a nice time.
Great, tasty and delicious Greek appetizers. Especially my favorites saganaki and spanakopita.
This was our first time at this restaurant. We went based on other reviews. It was okay, not great. The food was decent, the decor is late 1950's, service was good. For a while we were the only twosome in a room with a large, very noisy party which made it difficult to carry on a conversation. I don't think we will be back.
The Gold Coast is always a constantly good meal. The service is always friendly and there is a good selection of entrees for dinner. The Moussaka was very good as was the Lamb chops. The dining room is also nice as you can carry on a conversation without having to yell.
I've dined here many times. I've never had a bad meal.
Awesome awesome awesome as usual and going again next week.
Very good food, classy, had a great time would diffinately go back
This was our first visit in several years; we brought some friends and the meal was very good. Gold Coast is an older restaurant so quieter and more comfortable as a dining experience. Service is very good. Menu is a mix of Italian and Greek dishes. Many entrees use a base of marinara sauce, jazzed up in variants for different dishes. This works well if the sauce is a good one, and GC makes a VERY good quality marinara. Winner was the special seafood risotto, massive serving and delicious. Linguine with clams (white wine sauce) also very good. Both rice and pasta were a true 'al dente', not the ridiculous half-raw crunch young hip CA chefs think it is. Lamb shank was fall-off-the-bone tender with fine accompaniments. Beef ravioli is the old-fashioned thicker dough style in marinara; our friend is a meat-and-potatoes lover who was very pleased by it. The tiramisu needed more espresso for our taste, but another winner was the Galaktoboureko, custard-filled phyllo--it's sublime here! Before we've always been disappointed in it, but GC does an amazing version. Don't miss it if you visit.
I've always enjoyed the many choices for great dining in the SF Bay Area. As an Alameda resident I feel very lucky to have this establishment in my hometown. I claim it to be the best restaurant in Alameda but certainly competes with some of the best in the Bay. The best part is I don't have to go far (not even cross a single bridge). The culinary experience from the wine and cocktails to the soups and salads and the entree (my fave is the rack of lamb) down to the dessert is heavenly. What is special about this restaurant is the service...top notch! It's how fine dining use to be but for some reason only a few establishments are consistent and Gold Coast has been here for a long time and they're waitstaff never disappoint.
It was a bit out of our way, but I'm so glad that we went. The food was fabulous and just the comfort food we needed after traveling all day. The staff was so inviting and welcoming--it made the experience even better. If we lived in the area we would definitely be going back.
Good food and service with regular changes in the menu
The food at the Gold Coast Grill was impeccable, as was the service. The ambiance was just ok, so that was my only downgrade.
Definitely worth it, we will go back for happy hour and to try their dinner entrees. Great embience and service.
Wonderful as usual! Get together for a special occasion, in the back dining room. Plenty of room to spread out at a nice big round table. Food was great, as was service. This is a neighborhood gem which many overlook because they think just an "older" crowd eats there. They don't know what they are missing!
Piano player lays out a good selection of familiar tunes. At times patrons step up to the mike and sing along. Cosy ambience overall with booths, tables, and a small bar, with fireplace, but the lighting is bright enough for a classroom. Guests seemed to be mostly lively senior citizens with a smattering of middle aged thespians.
Cocktails great. Food okay. The peppercorn steak sauce burned our lips. Unfortunately ruined a very nice filet. Quality cut. The saganaki was cold, no flame.
But liked the experience overall and will go back. I like the old school feel.
We had a lovely time. The food was very good and the waitstaff very friendly.
Food and service particularly good especially the Lamb
