Sam's cuisine is just wonderful. Steve, our server was excellent. We absolutely love Gola and travel 1 hour and 15 minutes once a month from Binghamton to dine there.
Amazing homemade pasta, amazing local ingredients, amazing customer service, amazing hospitality, amazing ambiance…what else can I say, it was all amazing!!!
Great food and very relaxed ambience. Very friendly and helpful staff. One of our favorites in Ithaca.
The food, particularly the eggplant rollatini, ensalata gola, and veal Parmesan or some of the best I’ve had anywhere, including much of Italy.
The chef is very heavy handed with garlic, but I actually think that’s awesome. The sauce and cheeses were plentiful robust and amazing.
The atmosphere is, Meh. But I suppose the point of the restaurant visit is the food.
The service is well subpar. it’s not just that the waiter was lackadaisical, poorly dressed, and an overall low level of service… It was evident that was the standard throughout the entire restaurant. Management standards?
But at the end of the day, the food was awesome and I would absolutely be back for that alone.
The food was excellent and the service was very, very good. Very friendly. Efficient. Ding out on the patio was lovely! Look forward to dining here again!
We waited about 1.5 hours for our entrees. Unacceptable!
Shells in the mussels; my daughter thinks she cracked a tooth.
Favorite place in Ithaca! By far.
Gola is our new go-to restaurant. I have food sensitivities, and they are exceptional at understanding and caution surrounding this. The food is excellent and the portions are generous. Our only issue was that the air conditioning seemed non-existent; next time we will eat on the deck.
Gola is my all time favorite Ithaca restaurant to recommend to friends and visitors; the food and service are beyond comparison. My only complaint is its handicapped accessibility. I use a power wheelchair and the parking lot in the back of the restaurant is a challenge, especially since there is no handicapped parking spot. Additionally it is incredibly difficult to get close to the table since my wheelchair is taller than an average chair and the indoor tables have a thick wooden lip that prevents me from easily parking my chair. Despite these frustrations, the food and service are definitely worth the hassle!
We travel from Binghamton, NY to Gola. It's worth the 1 hr 15 minute trip each way.
I was very disappointed to be seated in doors when I was told I would be outdoors. We were put in the bar and the air conditioning was not working well making the room very hot. I would have appreciated someone letting me know that the outdoor seating was not available after i was told it was when i made the reservation.
Steve, our waiter, took excellent care of us! The food was amazing, as usual. We love Gola!
The food and service was absolutely fantastic. A very romantic spot. Highly recommend sitting out on their lovely porch!
As Always, Gola was spectacular. Complements to the chef and everyone in the kitchen. the food was amazing!!! The wine choosen for us was also perfect. Thank you for a wonderful Birthday!!!
Fantastic in every way, and I will dream about that bread+anchovy+prosciutto appetizer...
Service is attentive. Food is fine, but in my opinion not great. This is an expensive restaurant and the quality of the food should match the beautiful setting. It's not bad, but it's not memorable.
The food was PHENOMENAL. I’m still thinking about the bolognese! The restaurant was cute, but very hot - seemed like there was no air circulating. Our server was pretty awful. Very inattentive and uninterested in whether or not we were satisfied. We both work in the industry, so we were trying our best to be patient but it got worse as the night went on, ending with her presenting us with the dessert menu and never returning to the table. We had to ask the hostess for the check after 25 minutes, and she still never came over - sent it with the hostess and we never saw her again.
So happy we celebrated my boyfriends birthday here as we passed through town. From start to finish it was a great experience- we had the cacio and pepe and buccatini as the main dish both of which were delicious. I tried replicating the cacio and pepe dish at home but haven’t mastered it yet. Would definitely recommend!
The food was delicious. Service was a little slow but overall the restaurant was great.
Verdure was fabulous, meatballs and gnocchi also! Wish you had the focaccia you used to have. The bread you are serving now is very ordinary. Overall wonderful!
I would describe it as a frantic environment with servers running all over, although with no server willing to serve our table of 2. At one point a random server slammed a water bottle down onto our table without saying a word. As far as food, our toast was blackened, tasted like it fell in the coals. The hostess said, they darken their toast. As far as our dinners, they were less than desirable, my pasta was dry, as if it had been sitting out. Not interested in returning.
Wonderful evening. Great food and wine.
We always look forward to our visits to Gola. The house made mozzarella was delightful with just the right balance of salt and olive oil to complement the fattiness of the cheese. The bread was a tinge burned instead of grilled, but it did lend an acidic flavor that wasn't terribly unwelcome. The ravioli were a different style than I've had there in the past--more like a mezzeluna and a tad thicker. The tomato sauce had a terrific depth of flavor, perhaps owed to the slivers of garlic. My partner had the Amatriciana with a perfect level of spiciness. The guanciale is just slightly chewy, the way a good fatty and tasty meat should be. The big pieces of charred red onion didn't go unnoticed, either--one of our faves and lends so much flavor to a sauce. I've talked myself into coming back very soon by writing this review.
Great food, great service. Best place in town!
The pickled veggie plate was very good; I highly recommend it. We also really enjoyed the gnocchi and the ravioli. The waiter was very friendly and helpful.
First time here and will definitely return. Delicious lasagna and Caesar salad. Nice drink list and wines. Service was attentive. Hard to find location
The food here is superb, and the service friendly and accommodating.
Our food was excellent, especially the steamed clams.
Food was incredible, and Greg, our server, is incredible!
Wonderful experience every time! Best saltimboca we’ve ever had, anywhere. Service is awesome. Totally unassuming location with great ambiance.
The beets were very simple seems like they just used store product. The arugula salad was good. And the eggplant parmesan was okay. Dessert was not good at all. Avoid these if you can. The service was good. Seems like students with not much experience. I was expecting fine dinning and I got something less than a dinner.
I had the best date with my husband! We are from out of town and the food was just as delicious as our honeymoon in Rome. Incredible , especially as a gf guest. The service was outstanding.
We travel over an hour to get to Gola. It's worth the trip. We LOVE this restaurant. Sam, the owner & chef & his team are famtastic. HIGHLY recommend Gola.
Amazing food. Unfortunately, the table ahead of us overstayed their welcome, which really squeezed our dining time. That was tough. It is also incredibly, uncomfortably HOT in this restaurant. The food is amazing, and the wait staff was very helpful and attentive.
Perfectly seasoned house-made pasta, with local ingredients - a total pleasure!
Excellent food, although the portions are very large. Great ambiance- nice spacing of tables. Service was excellent
Exceeded our expectations! A definite must for anyone who appreciates the libatious and epicurean joy of life!
As always the service was enjoyable and professional. The meal was incredible and I was able to make an important reservation in a timely manner.
The food was extremely garlicy from the side veggies to the pasta. The pasta was otherwise good but the flavor was masked by extreme garlic. 4 stars.
I highly recommend the octopus - it had a slight delicious char on the exterior and super tender meat - and innovative use of celery in the sauce. 5 stars.
The vegetable assortment in the appetizer is a travesty. Are you kidding me? It said assortment of roasted and pickled veggie. It was 50% beans, 25% dried tomato. The remaining 25% were beets and pickled carrots and stuff which were actually tasty. But the beans and excessive dried tomato threw me off since it wasn't in the description. 2 stars.
The ambience and service were nice
