Glow Fresh Grill & Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
Went for Valentine's day dinner, as everywhere else it was fairly busy, menu was changed last minute, upon booking we were expecting valentine's menu with pairings. Service was great checking in and providing updates with our meals as it was taking longer than expected. Grilled calamari starter was great. However we ordered steaks as recommended and came very rare instead of medium, they kindly offered to recook them but had dried them out. With restaurant being very busy we got hungry and ate what we had.
We alerted the service staff to a severe food allergy, which the server advised the kitchen. However the ordered item came with the item in question. Even though the server and manager where apologetic, the overall experience wasn't great. At the end of the meal we were presented with the wrong bill.
I had the Lobster Mac n Cheese - it was luke warm and very bland. Not worth the price.
We have been to Glow on numerous occasions and enjoyed the food but this time we were extremely disappointed. There were a few large groups that requires quite a bit of attention from servers. Our food came it room temperature. We both had surf and turf. I couldn’t eat my meat it was exceptionally chewy. The lobster was over cooked on the outside and under cooked on the inside and lacked any kind of flavouring i taste. The potatoes tasted like they had been frozen and then thawed.
It was very disappointing especially since it is a place I recommend often to friends.
Food was ok, but nothing special. Desserts definitely could have used more effort. Service was terrible-- our server paid attention to us until we got our food, then disappeared. 4 other servers came around to take our plates, give us a take out container, etc. By the time she came back (she wasn't on break, we could see her going back and forth by our table, ignoring us), we had gone through the entire list of Golden Globe nominees and were ready to leave. We were there for three hours total for a simple dinner on New Year's Eve and ended up leaving at 9pm!
I booked our office Christmas lunch and mentioned on the booking that we were celebrating a birthday. The waiter was attentive and the meal was fine but after the main course he asked if we wanted coffee. At no time did he ask if we wanted dessert and no one had contacted me beforehand to see if we wanted a cake. The restaurant was virtually empty on Dec. 22nd so the staff wasn’t rushed. I won’t book a special occasion at Glow in future.
Great outing with the golf group, everything was perfect, food service and a low enough noise level so we could carry on a conversation!
The steak I had was perfect as were the Rack of lamb my friends enjoyed!
I have been to most of the Restaurants at the Don Mills center and Glow is the Best!
The food was good.
Ordered off the the earlier prefix menu (before 6:00pm) and everyone at our table thought it was good.
Service was slow. Experienced this before a this location. Waiter not very personable and not very attentive. Could be better as the restaurant was half full at best.
Washrooms clean and modern.
We were a little picky with our table selection and we were accommodated without hassle. Our waitress was amazing and attentative even though she had a party if 24 beside us. Food was bang on and all 4 dishes tasted great. The small desert options are fantastic. Over all a great place to go. Expect a high noise level though.
What a disappointment! The early-bird special on Monday November 4, was not so special. Fishy-smelling sole that had to be sent back and exchanged for something else and dry, tough, tasteless pork chop that was inedible. At least the dessert was good. Service was okay, but could not make up for the poor quality of the food. In spite of previous visits that were most enjoyable, we will have to think twice about going back, especially for an early-bird.
I was at Glow twice before Saturday past. On both occasions , I had the mixed grill. As I recall there was beef (filet), lamb, salmon, octopus, and a fine saussage. I thought it far and away the best mixed grill in the city. On that first occasion I had it all to myself and it was far too much for one person.
On the 2nd occasion, I shared the grill with my guest and we also each had appetizers. That really was perfect.
When I was there this past Saturday night, the mixed grill really changed and there was no longer salmon and octopus. Instead .... chicken and something else. I asked if we could substitute , and was told OK....at a price.
The fine print said that you could not order one grill, you had to order two grills; furthermore, the grill could not be shared .
Big disappointment. The best grill in town disappeared.
So too Glow, from my radar.....also ....they need better sound dampening.
The mushroom soup was very underseasoned. It could have used a modicum of salt and possibly thyme. The soup lacked flavour. The Balzac coffee was very bitter, but, of course that is personal taste. The server was wonderful. The club house sandwich was quite tasty.
I have eaten at Glow in the past and I have been happy with the food.
The food at Sunday brunch was very low quality for the price. $30 per person. One would think that there would be a nice dessert station. Not. The turkey sausages were dry and lousy and the peak meal bacon looked and felt like cardboard. The scrambled eggs had a foreign spice in them. I couldn’t even eat them. That’s how bad they were. The waffles were hard as rocks.
This is my third time at the Sunday buffet. First two times the menu had a whole baked salmon with dill dressing that was absolutely delicious. That’s why I came back again.
I would not recommend the buffet this time.
