We went to Globe last month and had a great experience. The food and ambiance was great. This time was a disappointment. To start with there was a table not far from us where they must have know the owner or Manager. He came over to join them and the noise level was intrusive. This went out for about 20 -30 minutes. It was like they were yelling at each other. When the table left the noise level improved considerably. They should have beeb awar that there were other people in the restaurant. The food was not as good as last time. A few if us had the steak frites. I had to send mine back because it was over cooked and although reasonably priced the quality was not up there. They would have been better off to charge more and give a better food experience. The server was great and took alot of time to check in on us throughput the meal.
Great food, fresh variety for tasting menus, vegetarian and non
We had to ask for our waiter to come over a few times just to place our order. We had to ask for condiments, water and coffee refills. We tried to be understanding but truly felt there should have been two servers on for the number of tables in the area and one large group. We were a table to 2 and it seemed we were forgotten.
The food however was delicious.
Our first visit won't be our last. Everything we ordered was delicious and beautiful on the plate. Our server was a lovely young man who was reasonably attentive -- we weren't in a rush so that was not a problem, we were the last seating on what had been a "crazy day".
The food has always been great at Globe. I would have preferred being notified in advance that there was a prix fix menu for the Sunday Brunch, as well as any changes to the specials they had.
Booked Easter brunch for six people including two small children. Almost inevitably spilled a full glass of apple juice and left a sticky mess behind. Staff could not have been more gracious and helpful. The food was good, the service was friendly and the ambiance was relaxing. Would definitely go back.
As first time customers, my boyfriend and I really enjoyed the 6 course tasting menu. Beautiful presentation, creative and delicious combinations and courses prepared by the chefs and expert wine pairings by our very friendly and professional server, Jake.
Another wonderful evening at Globe. Jacob is outstanding.
Excellent food and service and great value. We have been going to Globe since its inception and are consistently impressed with the quality of the overall experience. One of, if not the best, on the Danforth.
We went for the 5-course tasting menu, with wine pairings. Expensive, but worth it for a special occasion. Excellent service. The soup and the fish course were truly outstanding, as was the red fife bread. The salad and the dessert were good too, but not as memorable as the aforementioned. The main course, elk, was tough and not all that tasty. Overall, a very good experience, but it could have been better.
Excellent ambiance and food exceptionally good only one criticism - the desert was very late arriving - in fact the after desert drinks were brought along long before.
Food is delicious. Service excellent. Always consistent.
I had the beef ! It was fantastic; tender , juicy, flavourful. Very clean casual, classy, relaxed!
Treated like a king from the moment you walk through the door. Very attentive staff. Each meal is explained as it is served. The portions are not huge but the quality is so good we left feeling stuffed. We did the tasting menu and could be heard going mmmmm at almost every dish.
Food and ambience were excellent but service was snail paced.
Appetizers arrived 25 minutes and mains about 50 minutes after we arrived and the restaurant was probably only at about 30% capacity.
Overall quite good and the waiter was upbeat and attentive, warm welcome. We had reserved a table and it was ready and well presented upon arrival. Several items were already sold out which limited choices a bit. Food tasted well. Potatoes with breakfast items were fresh and crisp. Main let down was for the two of us who had the 3 eggs over-easy - they were poorly served as one-on-top of the other and all 3 were upside down, all the yolks were broken and had spread over the plate - this spoiled the otherwise well presented selection of different pork. Truly never had eggs so poorly presented - even at lower quality "greasy spoons".
An excellent restaurant for a special dinner. We enjoyed our pre-show meal and happen to have been there for the discounted wine/beer special (before 6). The wait staff are superb. The food was delicious. The greens were so fresh and plentiful, but too lightly seasoned for my taste, I dont believe there was much seasoning, including g salt. I can appreciate the tasty greens but would have preferred more salt and vinegar (I’m Italian so it’s a staple for salad). Incredible fresh bread and home made butter, excellent Baco Noir. A steak and pasta to die for. Decadent is a great way to describe the entrees. Loved it. Hope to return but only if they move to Mississauga!
I was totally taken with all aspects of service and food that we discovered at your restaurant. I can only say that I will certainly return when I am in Toronto, and I think I might just make a trip from Barrie, where I live, to experience another great meal just for the meal alone.
The back part of the restaurant where we were seated is dark and stark, not inviting during the day. It was also quite cold, we had to ask for temperature to be turned up. Food was OK, but barely warm when it finally arrived.
We tried the tasting menu with 6 courses and pairing with 6 different kinds of wine, started with the sprinkling wine, white, red & end with the late harvest, all pairing so well with its individual dish, enhance & highlight the flavor. The waiter is very friendly. We enjoyed the dinner very much.
Awesome chefs choice / pairing menu.
Globe Bistro is one of those great little neighbourhood restaurants that we wish were more prevalent in our area (though Globe is well worth the 30 minute drive). Imaginitive, beautifully executed dishes are served in a relaxed atmosphere by friendly, professional servers. The tasting menu is a very good value, thoughtfully paired with Ontario wines, and the portion sizes are not-too-big as so many tasting menus can be. On our visit there was a noticeable lag between courses, but we were in no rush so it was not really an issue. Highly recommended.
I had the steak tartar was very tasty, however needed more chips which the waitress happily served.
then the second course was a $32 smallish piece of Pickerel dusted with flour, greasy deep fried shitake mushrooms with a few Brussels leafs. I should have ordered a side veg of Brussels sprouts wasn't thinking, that would have left me satiated.
ordered a half liter of merlot which was smooth and tasty then ordered the same wine by the glass and it was vinegary and difficult to drink.
over all I ordered the wrong main course and our second glasses of wine ruined the meal.
I'll still return, I've had some very scrumptious meals at the Globe.
Just a nice place to go. Try it! You will return. Service is top notch
I was looking forward to taking my partner to Globe since he had never dined there and we live down the street.
Sadly, we won’t be back.
Everything took a very long time. Our appetizers took over 35 minutes, we ordered the tartar and the pheasant ravioli. When they finally arrived, the ravioli was hard and cold and sauce had a skin on it so we sent it back and told them to start our main courses right away.
The server was very nice but clearly overwhelmed given the place was quite busy, which I feel like should have been expected because of the long weekend, 1/2 priced bottles of wine, and the blues and roots festival.
The main course took another 30ish minutes after we finished our appetizers. All told, we were there for roughly two and a half hours.
When we got the bill, the ravioli was taken off but we were not offered much of an apology or any effort to make up for the incredibly long waits. The place felt poorly run and unprepared, unapologetic and unwelcoming.
Comedy of errors with order mix ups and service delay.
Great date place. I think this is also a good place for foodies. The front of the restaurant is more casual and that would work better for a friends-get-together. The back is more intimate and better suited for dates (singles and doubles). I took my GF here; we've been dating for three years but still try to have "special" dates once in a while and Globe is perfect for this. Quality isn't cheap so this is a little bit of a splurge place.
Beautiful restaurant and our waiter was awesome! He was on the ball, very friendly and helpful.
We went to Globe Bistro to celebrate my birthday and Valentine's Day.
Their special 3-course menu had options to please everyone in the family. Personalized service, refined foods and attention to details were remarkable.
Thanks to Ed and his team for memorable evening!
Amazing restaurant with creative, delicious and unique food. The service is exceptional and the ambiance is both tasteful and relaxed. So love this restaurant.
We absolutely loved each of our 3-course Prix Fix Valentines Dinner. Even surprised with an Amuse Bouche and a very fresh, very perfect single red rose. What could have been better - not a thing!
We thought that we have "discovered" a new resto - but its been there for 11 years. And now I know why!
Had the 6 course chefs tasting menu. Everything was delicious. Will be back for sure.
Fantastic food and presentation. Half price wine bottles on Sundays sure helps too!
Always a great Sunday brunch experience. 1/2 price wine on Sundays! Terrific VQA selection- Norman Hardie County 2015 Pinot noir with their burger and frites is a good arrangement to acquaint with. :)
Loved our meal here, the service was fantastic. The food was creative and falvourful!
The service was lovely and the food was even better. Visited as part of Winterlicious for an anniversary. Servers were patient and checked if we wanted time to talk between the entree and dessert. Portions were on the smaller side, but were still filling.
We went for Winterlicious and there were good options. Half price wine on Sundays makes it an even better deal. Really excellent apps and desert, tasty mains and good service. There was even complimentary bread with the Winterlicious menu (some place don't offer this). Not on Winterlicious, you'll often get an amuse-bouche included.
Went for brunch. Very creative menu with very reasonable prices. A lovely place to go, friendly staff. Really, everything you would want especially for brunch in Toronto which can be hectic overcrowded overpriced. This was none of that but a great experience.
Needless to say the food was excellent and plentiful in addition to being creative!
Table position was bad. Right in the path of servers. The odd one on the main floor in the back room. Ver non intimate.
Entre arrived late. Steak was too difficult to chew . Had to spit it out after each bite. My date’s lamb shank was over cooked.
We enjoyed the wine and our server was great.
