Food was extremely mediocre unfortunately. We ordered the smoked beef tartare - the tartare was flavorful with depth, but served with a toast that was drenched in oil. We also ordered the duck and the onion risotto. Both lack flavor and extremely bland as if they were not seasoned at all. The risotto had virtually no flavor from the onions or any aged/sharp cheese. I normally don't put extra salt in my food but needed some.
Service was great, our server was attentive and prompt.
Ambiance was good, there was live music that was not too loud. The noise level was good for conversation even with the live music in the background. Also a good place for people watching and plane watching.
Stayed at the Fairmont the night before an early flight, so we dined at Globe@YVR. My wife and I shared the seafood tower which was fantastic. Really nice variety of dishes on there... the candied salmon & ahi poke were the standouts in my opinion. We didn't have entrees as the tower was quite a lot of food.
The service was very professional and seemed to show up just at the right points during the meal.
Interestingly, the restaurant has it's own bee colony. They included bee pollen from that colony with our meal, and they offered jars of honey for purchase that we thought would be a unique gift for some friends back home.
Overall, we were very happy with our decision to stay at the Fairmont and our decision to dine at the Globe.
There are varieties of items in the afternoon tea set. Tea served in a big pot, no need to refill but the tea was cold after awhile. Scones were very good, savory items were the worse, sweet items were so so. Originally I invited a friend to go but received a regret because she did not like the food there.
Breakfast buffet was disappointing. It did not taste great and had few selection. One person was great, but aside from that, we were asked to wait constantly for juice refill, coffee, omlette, parking ticket, etc. The restaurant was very clean and quiet.
Sophisticated dining, great servic. This is our go-to spot when we want to eat like grown ups, even with our kids. We went for the Sunday morning buffet recently and were pleased with the quality and choices. The kids were half price. It included drinks which was unexpected and appreciated at an upscale restaurant. The host and waitstaff were friendly and capable. We had to ask for service from a not so friendly cook at the omelette station and the waffles as well which didn’t seem to be in line with the rest of the experience. Otherwise it would have been five stars all around.
It was busy that evening and there did not seem to be enough staff so service was very slow and our waitress was not energetic, knowledgeable or friendly. Also quite noisy. I went there for lunch before, it was a lot better; service was quick, staff was friendly and knowledgeable. So that dinner was a bit of an unpleasant surprise.
We went for afternoon tea. They charged $70+/each. On the 3-tiers plates, there are two scorns which are reasonably good, but the other finger food was awful (God knows how they have sat on the plates) and no sandwiches. It does NOT worth the money. However, my friend had a Club Sandwich and it's much better than the "afternoon tea" food. The server was polite.
Conclusion: Don't go for their afternoon tea and don't go if you are in a hurry. It is convenient if you want a quiet place for conversation, and/or to hang out before a flight. They give free parking (3 hours).
Great high tea as usual. Can't beat the Groupon deal, just be sure to tip appropriately!
Nice Lunch .... pricey, but it is the Fairmont .... they do give you a 3 hour parking pass if you spend $35
Went for afternoon tea before a flight. Booked on open table, left a note to Re: food restriction and when we got there they had it all sorted for us. Beautiful restaurant, friendly staff, great food.
Lovely Friday afternoon tea. Excellent service and good food.
I dine at many Fairmont locations and I was shocked at the poor wait service , but was happy with the food ! At one point The drink had to be sent back and instead of apologizing she carried on like we were troubling her! I will not dine here again!
Terrific hotel! Excellent service. Really
As a celiac and vegan, it is often difficult to find food that is good. The chef made a meal for me that was similar to menu options and yet different, creative and tasty.
Nice atmosphere and good service- we loved the seafood chowder and truffle fries- plan to return on our return layover in Vancouver.
Slightly disappointed that Time between courses was way too long. Service a bit flat. Food was nice just seemed a little disorganized. Will come back to give another opportunity to do better.
We were five for dinner, after a trip to Whistler, the night before heading back to Miami, New York and Portland. The restaurant was very convenient as we stayed in The Fairmont. While expensive, we thought the food was very good. I was a little surprised to have to actually pay for the bread, but it was delicious. Our server was very slow, but we weren't in any hurry, so it was fine.
Had a drink at the bar in the late afternoon, which was very nice.
Quiet, and I enjoyed the table by the window. Great YVR view.
We have dined here on two previous occasions each for Valentines Day. We enjoy the overall atmosphere in the airport.
My wife and I are true believers of impressions, that future experiences will build from the first. At first, we were skeptic all as we sat down right in front of the kitchen. However, our server was very understanding and knowing that we are there to enjoy the food, not smelling like food, and moved us to another table. He has wowed us from then on, from wine to food to finish. 5 stars!!!
Fantastic as always!!! Dinner before a 7 week holiday to Mexico. Perfect evening to start our trip.
We did a staycation in Vancouver for a night and stayed at the Fairmont YVR. Food is a bit pricier than it needs to be but, I suspect it's because of the location.
Great food and service while you are waiting for your flight. Servers are very professional and friendly.
Overpriced limited menu
Great view of the tarmac. Beautiful atmosphere and decor. Nice variety on the menu, and food was good (particularly the bisque and consomme, along with the beer bread). Our server seemed to be covering too many tables, as service was very slow.
The restaurant was busy for New Year's Day and very understaffed. Service was slow and the food, for what it is, overpriced.
We were they New Years eve and they had on a massive buffet. $125 so not cheap. Not at all. BUT it was excellent for a buffet - oysters and lots of choices of fish, lamb, a whole pig, prime rib, a huge salad bar, etc. It was very good. Service was great and live music in the background. I would do it again if we had to stay at the airport over New years.
Very nice time. Restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived and you could hear the live music which fit with the nice class motif. Food was good, service was good, but the food did take a little longer then we would have liked to get to our table. My wife's steak was very good, my cut wasn't as good, and was a little overcooked from what I requested which was medium rare. However, it was still a nice time and satisfied meal, especially since we were able to use a gift-card for Fairmont dining. All in all a very enjoyable time.
We wanted a great restaurant, quality food to share with friends leaving my beautiful city.
Sumptuous surroundings, loved being able to book in advance via my cell . Beautiful wine, delicious foods and apetizers. A little steep in pricing and really... $10 for beer bread? That's rather stingy of the Globle Group... most all was delicious though. Exception was my black lentils and vegetables.
Lentils were extremely bland and far too much! Vegetables, I like crisp but those seemed close to raw. Sorry! But think you need to know.
comfortable, relaxing atmosphere ensuring a enjoyable meal with fresh & appealing dishes, just a minor comment, crab legs comparatively not good as other dishes, best if more options for soup, & may some sushi (remember offered before), thank you & love the brunch on the Christmas day!
The space is a little too crowded with tables. We didn't receive the greatest service the night we went. We found the food pretty delicious. It was too bad the rest didn't come together to support it.
Fabulous lunch and perfect for a client meeting or a social gathering - very conveniently located at the airport before security.
This was one of the best lunches I have ever had!! I think they called it Christmas sandwich. Turkey, stuffing, cranberry, Brussel sprouts and gravy...... spectacular! All three of us had it and LOVED it!!!!
The menu is always changing at Global. We had the crab and prawn salad. Presentation was wonderful and the crab was wonderful. There was live music playing which really made a difference. Great service!
Great service and excellent view, perfect place to relax before checking in.
Perfect place to have dinner before flying out of country
Met my parents here during a layover. Beautiful restaurant, amazing service, quiet.
High class service and food, relaxed atmosphere
Fabulous meal from start to finish! I had to meet a girlfriend who was stuck in transit at YVR for 12 hours so we supped at the Globe@YVR as it's the only fine dining restaurant at the Vancouver International Airport. And it's definately a five star dining experience ...from the atmosphere, to the friendly and attentive staff, to the exquisite gourmet meals. Priced right for quality ingredients that are expertly prepared and divinely presented. This was my first time at the Globe but I would definately go back, because it was that fabulous! We shared the crab cakes appetizer and the wait staff was kind enough to bring two plates. My friend had the Halibut and I had the duck and both entrees were spectacularly yummy. We also split the candied cranberries in a cheesecake tart with some home made ice cream made by an expert pastry chef whose pate sable was perfection. Already wishing I could go back for another meal!
Always enjoyable our server Ben very attentive in all respects including use of the little vacuum thingy. Thanks to the chef for the special plate of waffles and add ona for the kids!
