This is truly a surprise a Great Restaurant in a hotel! YES, that is correct for Glen Prairie. Chef Mike has put together an interesting menu with common food prepared in an unique way. Something for everyone including a Burger....ALL delicious. The Hand crafted cocktails are really a special treat and made with care for a great experience.
A little "heads up" would have been nice before our group of 8 adults were seated in a room of 40 plus teens. It was obvious the management and wait staff knew this was not a good situation as they kept apologizing. A simple phone call to warn us would have appreciated. Had I known we were going to be seated in the kids room at a kids table I probably would have adjusted or changed our reservation. We could hardly hear ourselves talk over the energy of the kids. Then when the kids all left after about 45 minutes into our dinner the cleaning and moving crew came in, dismantling all the folding tables and pushing brooms through the mess left behind. I don't know what was worse. We felt like we were in the storage room! AND our folding table wobbled quite a bit each time someone used their knife. We all left with a very bad taste.
Great food and great service with an excellent menu and the food is very fresh.
Lived up to its reputation! Don't let the "hotel restaurant" set-up scare you off - Glen Prairie provides comfortably upscale dining in the suburbs. Serious about farm to table without being pretentious. Our server clearly knew the menu well and checked on us at the appropriate pace. Food was attractively presented and delicious. Portions are reasonable, so you can enjoy an appetizer or soup along with your entree. Plenty of wines by the glass, plus local beers and specialty cocktails. Will have to try dessert next time!
Everything was great. It got too loud but it seemed like there were a lot parents just hanging out with drinks while their kids were dining before a dance.
Although the adults in our party enjoyed their meal, the 6 year old child did not. At first, we chalked it up to the excitement of the outing, but then I sampled her PB&J -- the thickly sliced bread was incredibly dry, and there was only a thin layer of peanut butter and jelly. I'd avoid the sandwich for younger kids!
I always saw good reviews but was skeptical because it was in a hotel. Do not let that fool you. Great service. I was seated the minute we walked in on Valentine's day. My wife had the bass and I had the short rib. NO doggie bag. Desert was great as well. Todd do a great job not hurrying us but as soon as we were ready he took care of us. Farm to table and very good.
Love the local, GF options.
The food was outstanding. Everyone dish that my group had was top notch. This restaurant is competitive with the upscale restaurants in the West loop without the drive.
Every dish we tried was delicious! Can’t wait to go back!!
