The only serious problem-- and it was a serious problem-- was the noise level which made conversation between the two of us facing one another almost impossible. This was our second time at this restaurant. The experience the first time was sufficiently pleasing that we returned again. Our first visit was on a week night dinner occasion and the restaurant had only a few filled tables and the service was extraordinary. This current visit was on a Saturday night and there was a wait for tables.
We enjoyed our meals and when we return it will not be on a weekend evening and I would caution friends to do the same.
We had a large group and everyone loved their dinner choices. Great food and great service.
Fabulous. Everything on the menu
Maybe an off night. Bartender was friendly but our server was either lost or off a little bit---
dinner was out of sinc-forgot our salads and the entries came almost immediately following
my inquiring about the salad. We'll give it a couple of months and maybe try again.
We have eaten here 2x. Very impressed with the menu. They are on point with allergies. I am Gluten Free and it is wonderful to have several food options.
Date night was a success - but very hard to hear each other as the room is quite loud.
Great place with a massive amount of GF options!
Excellent service from Cathleen
Great food great service
Loved the salmon!
Best place for really good gluten free and dairy free food!
A lovely experience and good food. It was a perfectly lovely evening.
We have eaten at Glen Prairie many times and have always had good food and service -- so we decided to have Easter Brunch here. Of course they were very busy. Service was quite good -- but the buffet brunch was a disappointment, especially for the price. No beverages are included, food is just average, carved roast beef was VERY rare -- under-seasoned and tough. Enjoyed the cooked-to-order omelettes.
Cozy atmosphere, delicious food and wine, super friendly staff! Highly recommend for special occasions!
This was a first time visit for some people in the party and everyone enjoyed their meals. It is always nice go go to a restaurant that makes it a commitment to use fresh local products where/when possible. We had the stuffed mushrooms and flatbread for appetizers and both were excellent. Around the table we had the skirt steak meal, shepherd's pie, Amish chicken, curried chicken with rice and pork tenderloin. Everything was excellent and the staff was very friendly. Did not feel rushed at all even though it was a Sat. evening. Will definitely keep Glen Prairie on our list of special places to go when we want an excellent meal.
Celebrating my moms 88th birthday. Our waitress (Inez?) was so nice. Brought her a birthday dessert. She loved it!
The server was very helpful and the food was delicious as usual.
Glen Prairie was a great choice for a family birthday dinner. The atmosphere was nice, and our server Ella was very friendly and helpful. Everyone loved their meals - especially the mac and cheese, the salads and the black bean quinoa burger. The restaurant uses local ingredients when possible, and the menu is very creative and healthy. There was also a very good wine and cocktail list. Highly recommended!
Will not return - experience was Harmful to my heart/overall health
For a restaurant that takes pride in locally sourced food, I will not trust them as far as I can throw a bagel. I have been off caffeine for six and a half years on doctors orders. I ordered decaf coffee and in addition to the cup I was given a carafe. I asked the server if the carafe was for me as a second one was also set down on the table. She responded yes. After roughly six cups of coffee over about an hour, I felt like something was seriously wrong and asked again but was told both carafes were regular. I spent the next 10 hours having heart palpitations, increased resting heart rate of 125 bpm on average, nausea, anxiety, loss of sleep, blurred vision and the most uncomfortable flight of life. To top this off, 20% gratuity was added to the check so we didn't even have the option for our tip to reflect this large oversight. If the staff can't get regular vs decaf coffee right, I am not sure I would trust their gluten free or vegan options either.
For the rest of our table...
We chose this place because we heard there was a great Blood Mary bar. The Bloody Mary bar is okay but for $14/drink, I would highly suggest going somewhere else for a more quality beverage. The service definitely left something to be desired as we were there almost 15 minutes prior to being greeted by a server. Most of my friend's meals were good but a little pricey ($16 for Eggs Benedict). My pancake was mixed up with someone else's so they had to remake mine and when I got the pancake it was so crispy it seemed like it was pan-fried. The buffet on the menu is just a hotel breakfast buffet, not a brunch buffet. Not even an omelet station is included. Overall, just a mediocre hotel restaurant that in typical hotel (not resort) fashion is overpriced for the quality extended.
As gluten free diners, we were treated to a delicious meal with a knowledgeable server in a comfortable atmosphere. What an enjoyable evening. Thanks, Glen Prairie!
I have always enjoyed this restaurant, but on this visit the service was terrible.
Great menu if you are gluten-free. Even most of the specials were gluten-free.
Nice setting, but portions small for the price, everything was a la carte (no soup or salad included), service was slow, often we were ignored even though there were few people there. Food was ok (spare rib was tender). Nice seating are for drinking.
Excellent service from Kathleen
Great meal, will definitely be back to try more options on the menu. The Mac and Cheese was unreal!
Mac and cheese was the best I’ve ever had!
As always there, excellent food, great service and plenty of healthy and Gluten free options
Too noise tgis Saturday night due to a big group partying
This is truly a surprise a Great Restaurant in a hotel! YES, that is correct for Glen Prairie. Chef Mike has put together an interesting menu with common food prepared in an unique way. Something for everyone including a Burger....ALL delicious. The Hand crafted cocktails are really a special treat and made with care for a great experience.
A little "heads up" would have been nice before our group of 8 adults were seated in a room of 40 plus teens. It was obvious the management and wait staff knew this was not a good situation as they kept apologizing. A simple phone call to warn us would have appreciated. Had I known we were going to be seated in the kids room at a kids table I probably would have adjusted or changed our reservation. We could hardly hear ourselves talk over the energy of the kids. Then when the kids all left after about 45 minutes into our dinner the cleaning and moving crew came in, dismantling all the folding tables and pushing brooms through the mess left behind. I don't know what was worse. We felt like we were in the storage room! AND our folding table wobbled quite a bit each time someone used their knife. We all left with a very bad taste.
Great food and great service with an excellent menu and the food is very fresh.
Lived up to its reputation! Don't let the "hotel restaurant" set-up scare you off - Glen Prairie provides comfortably upscale dining in the suburbs. Serious about farm to table without being pretentious. Our server clearly knew the menu well and checked on us at the appropriate pace. Food was attractively presented and delicious. Portions are reasonable, so you can enjoy an appetizer or soup along with your entree. Plenty of wines by the glass, plus local beers and specialty cocktails. Will have to try dessert next time!
Everything was great. It got too loud but it seemed like there were a lot parents just hanging out with drinks while their kids were dining before a dance.
Although the adults in our party enjoyed their meal, the 6 year old child did not. At first, we chalked it up to the excitement of the outing, but then I sampled her PB&J -- the thickly sliced bread was incredibly dry, and there was only a thin layer of peanut butter and jelly. I'd avoid the sandwich for younger kids!
I always saw good reviews but was skeptical because it was in a hotel. Do not let that fool you. Great service. I was seated the minute we walked in on Valentine's day. My wife had the bass and I had the short rib. NO doggie bag. Desert was great as well. Todd do a great job not hurrying us but as soon as we were ready he took care of us. Farm to table and very good.
Love the local, GF options.
The food was outstanding. Everyone dish that my group had was top notch. This restaurant is competitive with the upscale restaurants in the West loop without the drive.
Every dish we tried was delicious! Can’t wait to go back!!
Very good experience. Enjoyed the pecan crusted pork with sweet potatoes and cauliflower. Chicken pot. pie was good and Mac and cheese delicious. Server was excellent. Very fresh home cooking.
Great service and incredible food. We will be back soon!
Our waiter Todd was Outstanding!
