Glen Prairie’s menu is designed to emphasize seasonal ingredients to showcase a variety of American flavors. The restaurant team shops local farmers' markets several times a week to source fresh ingredients.
I dined at Glen Prairie this week for dinner. The food, ambiance and service was excellent! I had the Amish chicken which was outstanding as was our waitress who was very personable provided excellent customer care.
This is one of my very very favorite restaurant s ever!
Love love love it, could go everyday!
I was there for dinner. Good variety. From fancy Mac&Cheese and burgers to ribeyes and strip steaks. Something for everyone. Daily specials. Substitutions are no problem. Nice wine and drink selection. The service was excellent. Our server was very pleasant and informative. Wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend.
Nice breakfast selection. Food was very good. Group of six and we all enjoyed it.
Our meal was fresh, well prepared, and tasty overall. Maybe our expectations were a little too lofty after reading stellar reviews and hearing glowing reports about this spot - and after being unable to secure a reservation on a weekend some months ago. I note this because my steak was extremely fatty, and my husband’s pasta dish dish was fairly greasy. However, flavors and sides were excellent, mixed drinks were good, and so, otherwise, we enjoyed our meal. Our only significant complaint is the setting, which is not exactly cozy and which was noisy enough that we were reduced to shouting across our table to be heard, much of the time. Also, when others walked across the wood floors, everything shook and vibrated badly, including our table and seats. It was jarring and distracting. We will likely return, but probably not (again) for an occasion such as a wedding anniversary. We would enjoy it more for dinner or drinks out with friends, I think.
The food was excellent and they were very accommodating to everyone's dietary restrictions!
Great food and Great service!!! Like they have a lot of Gluten free on the menu! Even the dessert was great!
Terrific service. They listened very closely to the diet restrictions of our out-of-town guests and then took great care to accommodate and over-communicate at all times throughout the evening. Came away very impressed and intend to be a regular customer.
Great combination of good food and service. The specials, like this week's White Fish, are great additions. The Fried Brussel Sprouts are delicious, and the Mac 'n Cheese makes for a great alternative dessert. And there is a place to hang your hat!
Great time! Todd our waiter was awesome!
Too noisy for a quiet dinner with discussion. Not very relaxing atmosphere.
I've eaten here about half a dozen times now, and I always get the turkey burger because it's delicious and locally grown. This is one of the best restaurants for anyone with food allergies or sensitivities. They take it very seriously.
Great service and food!
Farm to table restaurant from local farms, beautiful restaurant and all food was delicious. Had a hard time choosing what to get as it all sounded delicious and fresh. Love the farm to table concept and that it's right in our neighborhood! Good also for anyone with dietary restrictions as they are very flexible in adjusting the dishes based on your needs.
Always great. Nice wine list, fantastic gluten-free options, friendly staff and great food. Because it is in a hotel atmosphere is not charming but nice. Fine with us as it probably keeps people away. One of the few best kept secrets in the western suburbs.
Of the 5 of us, I was the only one who had been to this restaurant. It is one of the best. We shared the flatbread, which was predictable, and the Brussels sprouts, which were delicious. Of the entrees, one had pork and said it was worth coming back for. Two of us had the pike, which was impeccable. One had the chicken, and since that’s what he orders all the time, said it was outstanding, we all believed him. Lastly, one had the short ribs and said she would do it again. Desserts also do not fall short. The panna cotta was creamy and flavorful. The key lime pie was a bit above average, and the ice cream lovers touted their choice.
Drinks are well poured and service is perfect.
Glen Prairie is a hidden gem in Glen Ellyn. Chicago feel and the farm to table experience is one of the best I have had. I highly recommend Glen Prairie to friends and colleagues and anyone reading this review. Looking forward to my next visit.
Two friends and I had a very pleasant meal on Friday evening. I suggested dining at Prairie Glen since we've had excellent meals there several times. It's a very pleasant for adult gatherings. We were able to dine in a leisurely manner. I had the bison burger with blue cheese It was absolutely wonderful!
Tried the avocado tomato salad it was amazing! So fresh with just the right amount of cilantro and lime dressing. They chef is always coming up with new seasonal fresh options. Had it with the French Onion soup with gluten free bread wonderful light option . Missing the Amish chicken wild rice soup though, hope it comes back in the winter.
Food and service are always great.
Brunch everything had way to many peppers , toast cold, skimpy on butter hate those little thimbles of butter .
Very cozy place. Great burger and mac& cheese!
We had a great evening out at Glen Prairie
Our server was Todd.
He was friendly, knowledgeable, and provided excellent service.
Almost every item could be made gluten free (important to 1 of us). Server even ran over to our table after the roasted brussels sprouts were served to inform us this was not truly gluten free (fried in different oil) so our friend wouldn't eat by mistake. She was genuinely concerned. Large portions.
Todd was an excellent server. The food was amazing , and he went the extra mile to ensure our experience was really one to remember .
This is one of our favorite spots. They source locally and have really creative dishes. Their sazerac is the best I’ve had outside of NoLa. The kids love it. It’s a great spot for a date, family dinner or celebration. Love Glen Prairie!
Food is always good.
Our server Ashley was very friendky
My family and I went on Sunday for my aunts birthday. It was a great time! We loved the food, the service was good and we enjoyed it.
I had driven by this place many times. It was not until a foodie friend recommended I stop and try it that I experienced this neighborhood gem. I have been back many times. The food is a wonderful farm to table concept beautifully and deliciously interpreted. It is served in a casual atmosphere by a very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Mother’s Day Brunch was great!
Food was mediocre and the service was extremely slow.
This is really two restaurants. There is the main section by the bar and then there is a row of table by the door and hall to hotel. If you are seated in the "back 40" you are in a different restaurant. The decor, ambiance is bland. You feel like an outsider. The bar section looked much more fun, nice decor, style. We were seated in the "back 40" and it ruined the occasion. The food was good and service was good, but the seating area ruined the night. I don' t know why this area exists or why they don't put some effort into making the area look good.
Ella is such a great waitress! Food is ALWAYS perfectly cooked, we have never had a bad meal!
Great food at a great value. We went for a birthday but would go back for date night. My husband liked the espresso martini. I could see myself craving the Mac and cheese topped w pulled pork. Our daughter loved the salmon. The waitress was helpful and friendly. The hostess was very nice and accommodating. What more can you ask for? And we didn’t have to drive to Chicago or pay ridiculous prices.
Too loud for my taste. Bar tender and two patrons dominated the entire restaurant.
The food and service here have been outstanding every time we've visited. Our server, Edna, was great! We will definitely continue coming back.
Very average food in a very pedestrian atmosphere. It's a hotel restaurant and shouldn't try to be anything else. Too many other great restaurants in the area to waste time at this one.
The only serious problem-- and it was a serious problem-- was the noise level which made conversation between the two of us facing one another almost impossible. This was our second time at this restaurant. The experience the first time was sufficiently pleasing that we returned again. Our first visit was on a week night dinner occasion and the restaurant had only a few filled tables and the service was extraordinary. This current visit was on a Saturday night and there was a wait for tables.
We enjoyed our meals and when we return it will not be on a weekend evening and I would caution friends to do the same.
