Glen Prairie was a great choice for a family birthday dinner. The atmosphere was nice, and our server Ella was very friendly and helpful. Everyone loved their meals - especially the mac and cheese, the salads and the black bean quinoa burger. The restaurant uses local ingredients when possible, and the menu is very creative and healthy. There was also a very good wine and cocktail list. Highly recommended!
Will not return - experience was Harmful to my heart/overall health
For a restaurant that takes pride in locally sourced food, I will not trust them as far as I can throw a bagel. I have been off caffeine for six and a half years on doctors orders. I ordered decaf coffee and in addition to the cup I was given a carafe. I asked the server if the carafe was for me as a second one was also set down on the table. She responded yes. After roughly six cups of coffee over about an hour, I felt like something was seriously wrong and asked again but was told both carafes were regular. I spent the next 10 hours having heart palpitations, increased resting heart rate of 125 bpm on average, nausea, anxiety, loss of sleep, blurred vision and the most uncomfortable flight of life. To top this off, 20% gratuity was added to the check so we didn't even have the option for our tip to reflect this large oversight. If the staff can't get regular vs decaf coffee right, I am not sure I would trust their gluten free or vegan options either.
For the rest of our table...
We chose this place because we heard there was a great Blood Mary bar. The Bloody Mary bar is okay but for $14/drink, I would highly suggest going somewhere else for a more quality beverage. The service definitely left something to be desired as we were there almost 15 minutes prior to being greeted by a server. Most of my friend's meals were good but a little pricey ($16 for Eggs Benedict). My pancake was mixed up with someone else's so they had to remake mine and when I got the pancake it was so crispy it seemed like it was pan-fried. The buffet on the menu is just a hotel breakfast buffet, not a brunch buffet. Not even an omelet station is included. Overall, just a mediocre hotel restaurant that in typical hotel (not resort) fashion is overpriced for the quality extended.
As gluten free diners, we were treated to a delicious meal with a knowledgeable server in a comfortable atmosphere. What an enjoyable evening. Thanks, Glen Prairie!
I have always enjoyed this restaurant, but on this visit the service was terrible.
Great menu if you are gluten-free. Even most of the specials were gluten-free.
Nice setting, but portions small for the price, everything was a la carte (no soup or salad included), service was slow, often we were ignored even though there were few people there. Food was ok (spare rib was tender). Nice seating are for drinking.
Excellent service from Kathleen
Great meal, will definitely be back to try more options on the menu. The Mac and Cheese was unreal!
Mac and cheese was the best I’ve ever had!
As always there, excellent food, great service and plenty of healthy and Gluten free options
Too noise tgis Saturday night due to a big group partying
This is truly a surprise a Great Restaurant in a hotel! YES, that is correct for Glen Prairie. Chef Mike has put together an interesting menu with common food prepared in an unique way. Something for everyone including a Burger....ALL delicious. The Hand crafted cocktails are really a special treat and made with care for a great experience.
A little "heads up" would have been nice before our group of 8 adults were seated in a room of 40 plus teens. It was obvious the management and wait staff knew this was not a good situation as they kept apologizing. A simple phone call to warn us would have appreciated. Had I known we were going to be seated in the kids room at a kids table I probably would have adjusted or changed our reservation. We could hardly hear ourselves talk over the energy of the kids. Then when the kids all left after about 45 minutes into our dinner the cleaning and moving crew came in, dismantling all the folding tables and pushing brooms through the mess left behind. I don't know what was worse. We felt like we were in the storage room! AND our folding table wobbled quite a bit each time someone used their knife. We all left with a very bad taste.
Great food and great service with an excellent menu and the food is very fresh.
Lived up to its reputation! Don't let the "hotel restaurant" set-up scare you off - Glen Prairie provides comfortably upscale dining in the suburbs. Serious about farm to table without being pretentious. Our server clearly knew the menu well and checked on us at the appropriate pace. Food was attractively presented and delicious. Portions are reasonable, so you can enjoy an appetizer or soup along with your entree. Plenty of wines by the glass, plus local beers and specialty cocktails. Will have to try dessert next time!
Everything was great. It got too loud but it seemed like there were a lot parents just hanging out with drinks while their kids were dining before a dance.
Although the adults in our party enjoyed their meal, the 6 year old child did not. At first, we chalked it up to the excitement of the outing, but then I sampled her PB&J -- the thickly sliced bread was incredibly dry, and there was only a thin layer of peanut butter and jelly. I'd avoid the sandwich for younger kids!
I always saw good reviews but was skeptical because it was in a hotel. Do not let that fool you. Great service. I was seated the minute we walked in on Valentine's day. My wife had the bass and I had the short rib. NO doggie bag. Desert was great as well. Todd do a great job not hurrying us but as soon as we were ready he took care of us. Farm to table and very good.
Love the local, GF options.
The food was outstanding. Everyone dish that my group had was top notch. This restaurant is competitive with the upscale restaurants in the West loop without the drive.
Every dish we tried was delicious! Can’t wait to go back!!
Very good experience. Enjoyed the pecan crusted pork with sweet potatoes and cauliflower. Chicken pot. pie was good and Mac and cheese delicious. Server was excellent. Very fresh home cooking.
Great service and incredible food. We will be back soon!
Our waiter Todd was Outstanding!
Food was good, but took awhile, with no update as to why it was taking so long.
Server tried to make up for the wait, which was nice.
It was my wife and I’s first time there and overall it was OK. The food and the decor were very good but we were expecting it to be more of an upscale experience vs a family dinning place with nicer food. It was very loud and there seemed to be a lot of children running around. Not good for our “Date night”. Again, the food was very well prepared and the portions were right. The service was attentive. Just dont go there for a quiet dinner.
We really enjoyed Glen Prairie’s new Sunday brunch and Bloody Mary bar! The bar was nicely arranged with a great variety of condiments. The sausage cassoulet was excellent and a great addition to usual brunch entrees. Our server Edna was excellent and went out of her way to make us comfortable and meet all of dining needs. Nice touch was the manager checking in on our table. Great value for the price. Will definitely return for brunch again soon.
Our fav place!! Never disappoints
Great food, great service, interesting menu. Comfortable bar area to sit with drinks before dinner.
Kathleen our server is very pleasant.
Glen Prairie is a gem! The food is delicious...well prepared, creative and there's something to please EVERYONE. In fact, there are so many wonderful choices to please anyone! The staff is amazing...and really make the dining experience so pleasant. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of what you get. Highly recommended!
Took my adult daughters to lunch. We just love it there. Beautiful decor, great food and drinks and exceptional service. The only bad thing -they started the dishwasher behind the bar while we were dining and it was very very loud.
We went to Glen Prairie for their Middle Brow Beer dinner. Amazing meal. Exec Chef Mike Max did an amazing job creating dishes which were perfectly paired with great beers from up and coming Middle Brow Beer Co. Hope to see the short rib chili and shrimp and cheese grits on the menu. Outstanding!
One of our party needs the gluten free choices and she was very pleased. My salmon was excellent and all of us thought the food was very good and prices fair. Our waiter was very attentive and went out of his way to make sure we satisfied. We will definitely come back again.
This is one of our favorite places. Food is always outstanding. Dining room is cozy and softly lit. Service is always friendly and attentive. It’s a great place for a casual bite or a very nice dinner.
First time dining and will definitely be back. Excellent service!! Doesn’t feel like a “hotel restaurant”. Most menu items can be prepared gluten free. Brussel sprout appetizer was delicious but a bit disappointing-mostly artichoke hearts and garlic with few pieces of brussel sprout. Tomato and French onion soups were awesome. Mac and cheese with pork bbq was amazing - GF, light sauce and GF pasta made this not as heavy as you would expect, and very enjoyable. Next time we’ll have to leave room for dessert - looking forward to it!
Third time here and have loved it every time. Incredible gluten free options, great for celiacs. Service is always fast, efficient and charming. Food is delicious and very reasonable in price. Look forward to our next visit.
Fantastic service. We had 3 people with special dietary needs and the chef was fantastic! We will definitely be back.
Kathleen our Server was wonderful
When i booked thru open table for a NYE dinner, nowhere did it say that there would be fixed-price menu - if i had known, i wouldn't have made a reservation. To be honest, they did let us know that was the case when we first checked in however being that late in the evening, we didn't have any other options.
Having said that, the food was good but they should have some vegetarian options and scallops doesn't cut it as a veg entree.
Will i go back? Probably to try what they would normally serve.
didn't know there was a special holiday menu...(it'd be great if they would have updated that information on open table...)
