Glen Prairie’s menu is designed to emphasize seasonal ingredients to showcase a variety of American flavors. The restaurant team shops local farmers' markets several times a week to source fresh ingredients.
Excellent service. Waitstaff was knowledgeable about food allergies. We both had the short ribs - fantastic! Will definitely return!
Excellent service and delicious food.
My wife and I lived in Lombard until 9 years ago, yet were unaware of your restaurant. I discovered the listing to have a nice dinner before our concert at Wheaton College. And, what a find! We eat at excellent restaurants in Geneva, Glen Ellyn, and of course the City. From the time we were greeted by your hostess (and complimented on being promptly on time) until we departed, the entire experience was WONDERFUL!
The ambience was very warm. When I looked at my beloved across the table, right behind her were your "broom/sweeper "strawstacks." Never had I seen such an inviting touch in a restaurant. Then, when our server Iris (I hope that is correct) greeted us, it only got better. She was extremely knowledgable about the menu and drinks, which helped my wife pick a splendid chardonnay. Iris promoted the ribs, which I did not choose, but the pork tenderloin was superb. The roasted Brussel sprouts and squash, served under the tenderloin, were not only a sight to behold, but most succulent. The salad my wife chose was greatly appreciated, not only for presentation, but ingredients. She eats LOTS of salads, so this was a big treat for her.
And, not only did our dining experience please us, the time allotted matched our schedule perfectly.
So, it probably will be sooner than later that we'll return.
Was going to a show at the MAC- Glen Prairie is a partner and a special was $10. off an app. Could NOT show my ticket on phone to get the deal. I needed to PRINT my ticket (which was at will-call) to get the deal. Really? Print tickets? Not a good partner!
I am a celiac and the menu has a great selection of gluten free items.
Good food and wonderful, accommodating staff.
Good food, good service love coming here!
I was there with my wife one time before and the service and food was good. The second time I went I invited friends. This time the service was deplorable. Waited forever for cocktails and to order, never came back to check until we were finished with our dinner. It's not like they were super busy. The food wasn't as good as the first time. I ordered the garlic shrimp with risotto. I got five shrimp in about a cup of risotto and it cost me $28. To me that's ridiculous. Especially when you have such poor service. I should point out that the girl that was filling our water glasses, kept the glasses full the whole night.
Fabulous as always. Best gluten free menu.
Great service and food was soooo delicious! You won’t be disappointed coming to this restaurant!
Loved the food ! Fresh and so flavorful ! I am a vegetarian and ordered pesto pasta and couple of side ! Everything was so delicious!
Mac and cheese is a must try! Great for those who eat gluten free and those who don't!
Food was outstanding! Our server was lazy and rude. We waited for service, and when she made it over we order immediately. We had seen her walking back and forth to the kitchen eating with stuff in her mouth. We then noticed other tables were getting bread. So we asked her if we could get some. She then told us it’s delicious and she can’t stop eating it tonight and proceeded to go by the front desk and hang out there for a few minutes before she went back to the kitchen to get us some. There was no urgency she seemed very consumed with eating the food in the back of the kitchen. I thought that was unprofessional not to mention uncleanly. She was not available to fill waters or if we needed anything. To say the least not the kind of service I appreciate when I am going to a finer restaurant. Therefore we will not be going back.
This was my third time dining at Glen Prairie. I was always impressed with the quality of the food. Not so this evening. We started with the fried bean appetizer for the table. The batter did not adhere to the beans, which were greasy. Two at the table had the chicken wild rice soup. It was top heavy with cheese. Two of us had salads. Mine was the wedge. I have to say that with the multitude of wedge salads I’ve eaten, this was the only one that was limp. If the lettuce wasn’t crispy, the chef should have removed it from the menu for a day. At least remove the first outer leaves.
My sister in law had the papardelle and it was mediocre. Her husband had the short ribs, which he said were good. My husband had the whitefish, which was undistinguished, but edible. I opted for the pork with mashed parsnips and sautéed spinach. The meat was cold, the parsnips tepid, and the spinach over salted. Sad.
For dessert, we had sherbet, cheesecake, and Chocolate chip sundae.
I know I won’t be returning any time soon to this restaurant, and I’ll certainly stop recommending it.
Ella is a fantastic server. She remembered us after only one time going. The food is always excellent. We tried dessert today and got the coffee toffee I've cream and it was amazing as well. Love that they always have new special and I've never been disappointed.
My friends and I had a terrific time at Glen Prairie. Everyone got something different, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The tastes and presentations were all fabulous! Probably at least 90% of their menu is or can be gluten free, which is very much appreciated by those who must follow that diet. And they really seem to understand what gluten free means, and how to do it safely. The only downside was feeling way too full after eating too much!
I had shrimp and risotto that was very tasty. Shrimp done right and risotto was prepared well. Try the hummus. Homemade and served with veggies and pita . Wives whitefish was good. A little to much sauce for her taste but good. Bread pudding was also well done. Crowd was a bit loud for a Monday night. Some sort of transportation folks in town for something. Parking lot was full of their trucks. Food well done . Service was prompt all things considered.
Always a great meal with excellent service!
We were served bread and water but nothing else. We waited for a server to come and take drink orders but no one did. We got up and left 17 minutes after being sat.
Food always amazing. Service is so good.
Consistently great food....weekly specials are always delicious. Cocktails are great, artisan treats, but a little pricey.
We had eaten at Glen Prairie a handful of times before but were disappointed this outing. It took a long time to get the drinks. My order of salad with grilled shrimp had too much dressing which was very salty and the shrimp were dry. My friend had the special pasta Bolognese and it was only fair. Again, it took a long time to get the check and we had to ask the bartender to get it for us.
Not sure if we'll give it another try.
Always a great place for dinner!
Nice place. Just had a burger, but it was delicious! Our server was good. We just sent her away since we were catching up. Took her a while to notice we were ready, but very attentive after we flagged her down. Place is cozy and pretty empty for lunch. I'd go back to try something else.
Just OK. Rather loud room as the bar dominates the environment.
Very good gluten free and vegetarian options. Shepard's pie super yummy!
Glen Prairie was an amazing find. I almost passed it up because it was attached to a hotel. Hotel restaurants are notoriously overpriced for relatively mediocre food. This was so opposite the case! Fresh ingredients, locally sourced. Amazing flavors, and a wonderful bar!! I drive over an hour to eat here every time I come and I will continue to happily do so. While there are not a 'ton' of vegetarian options they make it a point to have a couple options other than just a salad on the menu. This is important to me as my wife is Vegetarian and I am an Alpha Carnivore. Finding good restaurants that know how to add flavor to a dish while still keeping it vegetarian is incredibly hard to do. And we eat out a lot. Glen Prairie has proven creative, flavorful, and supports their wonderful kitchen with great service and a really good bar.
Birthday day for my mother in law and everything was exceptional!
Food and service were excellent. Had the braised ribs-outstanding. Sweet potatoes were mildly warm; brussel sprouts warm and slightly undercooked/hard. Still tasted outstanding. Had firecracker shrimp for app- terrific.
We had a little issue with reserving. I reserved online. Then upped the total to 10 from 8, no issue. Had to call back to decrease to 5. Person could not find online reservation so booked another one. Then I got TWO validations and that is when we resolved the reservation issue back to original time with 5 people. We had our table promptly. Nice choices. A little pricey for glass of champagne, salad, main course, desert but as always the FOOD was delectable. Some had soup. Some salad. Both great. Some had fish, some beef. Lovely. I asked for no potatoes. Got NO potatoes. Yeah. Desert YUMMY. Love Ella. She was our server. I love Glen Prairie. Not sure why it does not pop up in my mind often. Not sure if it is the Crowne Plaza parking lot, or what. You have consistently exceptional food and nice service. Flexible food choices to meet our dietary needs. Thank you for being you. One recommendation: have music on weekends. Pair up with Arthur Murray Oak Brook. They have 'outings' with their students sometimes. Might be a good mix. Questions? Let me know. Sharon
New Year’s Eve with family
We drove here based on reviews for celiac friendly food. They did not disappoint! Amazing gluten free options for my daughter!
Very good food. Great service.
Understaffed. Our waiter was fantastic but it looked like he was the only one serving and busing the entire place. Half of our party arrived at noon and the hostess told them to sit wherever even though we had a reservation. The second half came at 12:05 and we didn’t see the hostess again for 10 minutes. The place was maybe half full. We had specified in our reservation we had a child and a toddler and would need a high chair, so “sitting wherever” wasn’t helpful if we didn’t have the high chair. Took forever to order, and took forever to get the bill. The food itself was excellent and kudos to the waiter for putting in the two kids’ orders first so that their food came out quickly. Again, really seemed like the place wasn’t managed well. Food and waiter were great.
Edna provides excellent service and was very knowledgeable about the menu. Amazing gluten-free options that tasted incredible. Fantastic ginger brew from Windmill brewery in Geneva, IL. Hubby loved his bison and blue burger. I had the Mac with bbq pulled pork. Specified both as gluten-free. Both were amazing winners. Would dine here again.
Our food was delicious and our waiter was very attentive. It was Christmas, so I'm sure he had a very busy day and we were the last seating, but still he did a very good job. The wine list is a little sparse. Good locally grown food. Fairly quiet atmosphere.
CHRISTMAS dinner was delightful. Good portions and we shared our appetizers. Would return for a lunch or dinner.
The place to go on holidays. We both had the same dish- braised short ribs with whipped sweet potatoes and carmelized Brussel sprouts.
Our waiter was excellent but we were disappointed in the size and location of out table
Came for Christmas dinner. Was great, the one hostess that sat us wasn’t acting super thrilled to be there but everyone else was great. Food was yummy as always.
