Glen Prairie’s menu is designed to emphasize seasonal ingredients to showcase a variety of American flavors. The restaurant team shops local farmers' markets several times a week to source fresh ingredients.
Meeting with friends before seeing a play
Great place for gluten free dining! You can’t go wrong with anything on their menu
I am a long time fan of this restaurant and for the most part, get wonderful service and enjoy the food. This was my first visit for breakfast. The service was awful. They were very understaffed due to a large "morning after" wedding party in attendance. This however will not deter me from going back but they need to plan better.
Food and service was excellent. My date had the Halibut special and really enjoyed it. I had the ribeye and it was prepared just the way I liked it.
A perfect dinner! Cedar Plank Organic Scottish Salmon paired with green beans and polenta soufflé! The salmon had a wonderful glaze that made it outstanding. We started with a simple salad, with a light dressing - also a perfect flavor and not over done!
I've been meaning to try this pace for a long time. Mother's Day brunch is probably not a fair trial. Will try dinner sometime.
Food was good quality. Some dishes, like Bananas Foster french toast, were creative. Selection was very limited. Omelets were the only egg dish.
Delicious food and safe for my family with celiac disease
Order took 40 minutes to arrive. No follow up to explain delay.
This is a rare exception to Hotel Dining! We really enjoy coming here to get a Great Quality Meal prepared in a Very Unique manor. Chef creates just the right combination of foods with the perfect splash of goodness to result in a wonderfully delicious dish. They accommodate Gluten Free better than most other restaurants in the area and you do not have to be afraid of getting sick later!!! Add to the food a great Bar Tender who also is creative and a wine list that's wonderful and you have an exceptional evening. The servers are all friendly and really care about you and your table so you have a great experience. Love this place stay creative a keep up the good work.
Lots of Gluten Free choices. Very good food as well. Mostly modern takes on comfort classics.
Excellent staff who were very knowledgeable about celiac and gluten allergies and what was safe to eat.
Quite noisy. Food very good but service was so-so. Had to try to get servers attention quite a number of times.
I am SO very disappointed to be writing this review. I have been dining at Glen Prairie since the restaurant’s opening and have always had a great experience, however, our visit on Sunday was more than disappointing and unfortunately I believe it will be our last time there.
There were 7 of us dining around 5pm, so the restaurant was all but empty. We tried to order the spinach dip appetizer off the menu but were told they no longer had that and we must have been given an old menu. So instead we chose to order the fried cheese curds off the special menu, only to be told 5 minutes later that the chef couldn’t figure out how to make them. After two failed attempts to order appetizers, we gave up and just ordered our dinner.
One of the gentlemen dining with us has many allergies and was specific that his burger could NOT be seasoned. The waitress forgot to tell the chef this and ultimately had to remake the burger. When the 2nd burger finally came out, it was so raw it could hardly be eaten.
Our waitress, while incredibly sweet, was very absent. We dinned for 2 hours and never once was I poured more water. Despite the restaurant being virtually empty, I sat with an empty water glass for the entire second half of my meal. I had to ask 3 times for my daughter’s milk. It took a very long time for her to return to take our order and our meals all came out at different times.
Outside of just the dining experience, we had a broken chair at our table and a gentleman sitting at the bar sat on a broken chair as well. The whole place just looked run down and dirty and in need of a facelift.
For what was once a frequent dining spot for my entire family, it pains me that this place has gone so down hill. Unfortunately, after our recent experience we’ll be looking for a new family spot.
Phenomenal Gluten-Free options
Choices covered all tastes. portions were perfect. Wine isn was good. Food was delicious!!!!!!!
I have been to Glen Prairie several times and have even held two successful parties in their back room; one for a birthday celebration and one for business. The decor is modern and stylish, the food nourishing and delicious, and the service is prompt.
Great Food, Service, Attention to locally sourced ingredients, which I understand, comes at a price that I'm willing to pay.
Along those lines, the $55 price for just an average bottle of Merlot Cab Red wine seemed excessive.
Wonderful Sunday breakfast. Loved the pulled pork Benedict1 Service was great.
Always glad to get back to Glen Prairie, especially during Lent when they include fish fry on Fridays. The service is always attentive but not hovering, and the chef keeps adding interesting things to the menu.
The food was very good, but we felt rushed throughout our meal. Our drinks took about 20 minutes to come to the table, and when we asked our server about when they'd be coming she was not very polite. Additionally, we were told that we could only order one drink at a time and had to finish our first drinks before ordering anything else, which has never happened at this place before and wasn't happening to the tables around us. I think this restaurant is a good pick if you have people in your party who have a gluten allergy, as the menu is VERY gluten friendly. However, I wouldn't be in a hurry to go back due to the service.
Hostess could use charm school, waitress was barely adequate, overall not a good experience. We used to love this place, what happened? The drinks were pricey and small....
Excellent service. Waitstaff was knowledgeable about food allergies. We both had the short ribs - fantastic! Will definitely return!
Excellent service and delicious food.
My wife and I lived in Lombard until 9 years ago, yet were unaware of your restaurant. I discovered the listing to have a nice dinner before our concert at Wheaton College. And, what a find! We eat at excellent restaurants in Geneva, Glen Ellyn, and of course the City. From the time we were greeted by your hostess (and complimented on being promptly on time) until we departed, the entire experience was WONDERFUL!
The ambience was very warm. When I looked at my beloved across the table, right behind her were your "broom/sweeper "strawstacks." Never had I seen such an inviting touch in a restaurant. Then, when our server Iris (I hope that is correct) greeted us, it only got better. She was extremely knowledgable about the menu and drinks, which helped my wife pick a splendid chardonnay. Iris promoted the ribs, which I did not choose, but the pork tenderloin was superb. The roasted Brussel sprouts and squash, served under the tenderloin, were not only a sight to behold, but most succulent. The salad my wife chose was greatly appreciated, not only for presentation, but ingredients. She eats LOTS of salads, so this was a big treat for her.
And, not only did our dining experience please us, the time allotted matched our schedule perfectly.
So, it probably will be sooner than later that we'll return.
Was going to a show at the MAC- Glen Prairie is a partner and a special was $10. off an app. Could NOT show my ticket on phone to get the deal. I needed to PRINT my ticket (which was at will-call) to get the deal. Really? Print tickets? Not a good partner!
I am a celiac and the menu has a great selection of gluten free items.
Good food and wonderful, accommodating staff.
Good food, good service love coming here!
I was there with my wife one time before and the service and food was good. The second time I went I invited friends. This time the service was deplorable. Waited forever for cocktails and to order, never came back to check until we were finished with our dinner. It's not like they were super busy. The food wasn't as good as the first time. I ordered the garlic shrimp with risotto. I got five shrimp in about a cup of risotto and it cost me $28. To me that's ridiculous. Especially when you have such poor service. I should point out that the girl that was filling our water glasses, kept the glasses full the whole night.
Fabulous as always. Best gluten free menu.
Great service and food was soooo delicious! You won’t be disappointed coming to this restaurant!
Loved the food ! Fresh and so flavorful ! I am a vegetarian and ordered pesto pasta and couple of side ! Everything was so delicious!
Mac and cheese is a must try! Great for those who eat gluten free and those who don't!
Food was outstanding! Our server was lazy and rude. We waited for service, and when she made it over we order immediately. We had seen her walking back and forth to the kitchen eating with stuff in her mouth. We then noticed other tables were getting bread. So we asked her if we could get some. She then told us it’s delicious and she can’t stop eating it tonight and proceeded to go by the front desk and hang out there for a few minutes before she went back to the kitchen to get us some. There was no urgency she seemed very consumed with eating the food in the back of the kitchen. I thought that was unprofessional not to mention uncleanly. She was not available to fill waters or if we needed anything. To say the least not the kind of service I appreciate when I am going to a finer restaurant. Therefore we will not be going back.
This was my third time dining at Glen Prairie. I was always impressed with the quality of the food. Not so this evening. We started with the fried bean appetizer for the table. The batter did not adhere to the beans, which were greasy. Two at the table had the chicken wild rice soup. It was top heavy with cheese. Two of us had salads. Mine was the wedge. I have to say that with the multitude of wedge salads I’ve eaten, this was the only one that was limp. If the lettuce wasn’t crispy, the chef should have removed it from the menu for a day. At least remove the first outer leaves.
My sister in law had the papardelle and it was mediocre. Her husband had the short ribs, which he said were good. My husband had the whitefish, which was undistinguished, but edible. I opted for the pork with mashed parsnips and sautéed spinach. The meat was cold, the parsnips tepid, and the spinach over salted. Sad.
For dessert, we had sherbet, cheesecake, and Chocolate chip sundae.
I know I won’t be returning any time soon to this restaurant, and I’ll certainly stop recommending it.
Ella is a fantastic server. She remembered us after only one time going. The food is always excellent. We tried dessert today and got the coffee toffee I've cream and it was amazing as well. Love that they always have new special and I've never been disappointed.
My friends and I had a terrific time at Glen Prairie. Everyone got something different, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The tastes and presentations were all fabulous! Probably at least 90% of their menu is or can be gluten free, which is very much appreciated by those who must follow that diet. And they really seem to understand what gluten free means, and how to do it safely. The only downside was feeling way too full after eating too much!
I had shrimp and risotto that was very tasty. Shrimp done right and risotto was prepared well. Try the hummus. Homemade and served with veggies and pita . Wives whitefish was good. A little to much sauce for her taste but good. Bread pudding was also well done. Crowd was a bit loud for a Monday night. Some sort of transportation folks in town for something. Parking lot was full of their trucks. Food well done . Service was prompt all things considered.
Always a great meal with excellent service!
We were served bread and water but nothing else. We waited for a server to come and take drink orders but no one did. We got up and left 17 minutes after being sat.
