This place was terribly under staffed. They could not accommodate the patrons they had and to make matters worse, they kept accepting more. Poor management and no one was apologetic for the poor service.

I wish they would broaden their menu. We have had many a delightful meal at the restaurant and usually rely on their specials, which were particularly weak on Monday of this week. We had friends from out of town and had spoken highly of the restaurant but we are felt the meal was poor. Get more creative - the chef must be able to develop a better menu. If not, get a new chef.

Great martinis, great oysters, wonderful cioppino, terrific french fries, and awesome desserts. The oysters rockefeller were too dry with too many breadcrumbs. The muscles with french fries needed to be separate. The french fries became too soggy. Otherwise, it was great!

The Glen Ellen Inn is a gem. It's owned by lovely people who really care about what they put on the table. This is not your trendy, "have you been" restaurant. Don't be fooled by the laminated menu. The food is consistently delicious, with great service, and a charming setting. I consider myself a discriminating restaurant goer who always thinks trendy restaurants have a short lifespan. The Glen Ellen Inn is a keeper.

Throughly enjoyed our meal there. The service was excellent until they started getting busy. My son in law ordered coffee with his dessert and it came at least 5-10 minutes after he finished it. Fortunately, he is very easy going so it didn"t seem to bother him. Over all it is a great little restaurant. Best of all it was close by where we were staying.

Excellent meal and friendly service. Nice wine list reasonably priced. Would definitely return if we visit Sonoma Valley again. Cottages in the rear were a find. Great value and fun for our small group (4).

Food was delicious -- love the small inner dining room -- like eating in a tree house looking out over the garden -- interesting menu -- beautiful food presentation -- meyer lemon dessert to die for -- good wine list, by the glass or by the bottle --

Our service person, Dominic, was either over committed, or maybe new, or??? He was noticeably absent and had to repeatedly be found by us, or by the other waiter on duty. Maybe it was an unusually busy Saturday -- don't know -- he did seem to be outside more than inside -- maybe the restaurant was short-staffed on that particular day? Again, don't know. Will we be back again? Absolutely, but don't want Dominic as our waiter.

Bad service from the start--had to wait ten minutes to even check in for 8:00 reservation while hostess ignored everyone, scrambling around to set up an unreserved table for a very rude party who pushed past all of us with reservations to clog up the entryway. Waiter was pompous and annoying, did the minimum possible. Food was decent but service ruined it. Was my wife's birthday and I had noted it on reservation--never acknowledged or mentioned.

The Glen Ellen Inn has always been one of my favorite restaurants in Sonoma County. I think my wife and I caught it on a bad night. I ordered a steak which came with a Blue Cheese Sauce. Not liking Blue Cheese I requested the steak without it or with something different. I was offered a red wine sauce which was fine. I never thought about the Blue Cheese when I ordered my "Simple Greens Salad." I was a bit surprised after the discussion about Blue Cheese on the steak that there was a considerable amount of Blue Chees on my salad. That was my fault though. I should have read the menu description more thoroughly. But, you would think a waiter might have caught that too. More importantly, I ordered my steak medium and it was at best well done. My wife ordered salmon and it too was significantly overcooked.

I am going to write this off as a bad day for The Glen Ellen Inn. I have been there in excess of 30 times and would rate all of those visits a 5 across the board.

We were there while touring some friends from Chicago around wine country. It was close to our hotel (Olea), and we wanted something close. For an oyster bar, there was only one type of oyster available, which was surprising and a little disappointing. The martinis were good and the restaurant was cozy and quiet. I ordered the halibut(I think, it's been a week). My husband had the salmon. The fish was cooked well, no complaints there. Hopefully, they up the ante with the oyster choices on the weekends.
