Glass Wall - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
I didn't like how "small" the entry way was. The check in desk was right inside the door and made it difficult for people to come in and out of. And the only way to park was by using the valet. Parking was very limited, and if I hadn't had a reservation I would have kept going. The restaurant itself is actually a lot smaller than I expected and I can now understand why it is best if you have a reservation. The food was amazing and our server, Mercedes, was fantastic. This place is a good date night or romantic night out place if you don't mind limited parking and crowed entry ways.
The glass wall is closing and becoming a casual Bistro .
Sad to see it go. We ate there several times a year with folks from out of town or for special occasions. Was a bit disappointed this time with the seafood paella...and also I was charged for dessert we did not order or eat nor was it served!
Within an hour of returning home I emailed glass wall about that discrepancy but have not heard back. Sad!
The attitude of the hostess was atrocious, and the table we were assigned was truly pathetic. Restaurant management should never put a table in a dead corner, bad all around. And the training of the staff needs to be raised several levels.
There were at least five empty stations, there were no people at the front, ZERO, the parking lot had open parking available, we had a reservation, but the hostess insisted in placing us at the single worst table in the restaurant.
We left, we will not go back, to be treated so badly, and we had a reservation, we were not a drop in, nor was there a rush. We cannot recommend this restaurant based upon the attitude of the hostess (12:30-1:00 on Mother's Day)
Always a pleasure dining at Glass Wall. Chef Jorge & his kitchen crew, along with Isidro & the other waitstaff, & Jose behind the bar, always take great care of us. Delicious drinks & food, & wonderful personalized service. Moules & frites were out of this world delicious. The hard boiled egg sliders & pulled pork sliders are tasty bar food options. Combine the food with the cocktails & the service - we had a wonderful evening.
Have been here a few times and it has been good. However, this time was not so good. We had a party of 6 and they put our table in a corner, instead of in a more open area. The restaurant was otherwise empty. Mixed reviews in the food, crab cakes had too much bread and weren't tasty, but soft shell crab special was good. Used to be a good fallback to go to. Not planning to come back anytime soon now. Disappointed in that.
Very loud. We were seated at table next to kitchen which made matters even worse. Unfortunately, the hostess could not offer us any relief despite a couple of empty tables farther away from kitchen. Perhaps, diners with prior experience with noise level at Glass Wall requested these tables in advance. We'll take a different approach and try other restaurants in future.
Evident from the low patronage on a Sunday mid morning that this place is not popular.
Décor is nice so it must be the food....... and it was.
Tacos with carnitas meat didn't really work. Had to ask for salsa to give them some zing.
Short ribs similarly uninspiring.
Regular coffee was terrible.... weak and Cappuccino had that "synthetic" foam on top (may be due to using 2% instead of full fat milk.... not sure)
Pity as it's close to the house in a nice location. Won't be back.
Live in San Antonio but was in town visiting and returned to this restaurant after 8 years. Was still satisfied with the food, drink selection, and especially the dessert (bread pudding). The waiter was extremely kind to our family. We had a tired 5 year old with us, and our waiter didn't bat an eye at him. We asked for a small scoop of ice cream for the little one, and he came back with a huge mound. I don't think he charged us for it either. It made for a nice end to our visit to Houston. Thank you.
Another delicious meal at Glass Wall. I sat at the bar & chose from the bar menu. As my main, I chose the Oyster Bar Trash - a seafood gumbo with shrimp, oysters, & crab meat in a rich savory delicious satisfying roux. The Laird Sauvignon Blanc - dry, grassy, with citrus notes - was the perfect accompaniment. For dessert, I had the toasted coconut creme brulee - perfectly smooth and delicious custard with crisp burnt sugar coating & yummy toasted coconut shreds. Chef Jorge & his staff never disappoint!
Menu was simple and reasonably priced. Generous side of perfectly cooked bacon, which is a huge deal. Some places really short you on bacon. Two slices is never enough. Food came out fairly quickly and was well seasoned.
Service was attentive and helpful.
Nice ambiance. Will be back for dinner and happy hour
We both had the fish, my partner did not finish her snapper the flavor was off and my sea bass was soaked in a cream sauce that removed all healthy benefits the fish had to offer. The parking is valet and the waiter was very attentive. All in all it was okay- but for sure a one and done for us-
The restaurant was lovely and clean. The valet was nice (although required even though there was plenty of parking). The service was very good and kept our drinks full. The appetizers were great! But the rest of the food was good except that dessert was a bit disappointing.
We brought out of town guests to our favorite Houston restaurant & once again Glass Wall exceeded our expectations. Our friends raved about everything - the food, the ambience, the entire dining experience. Boulevardiers & Cosmopolitans, brie en croute, crabcakes, tuna poke tacos, braised beef short rib, grilled veal chop, pappardelle with wild boar ragu, shrimp & grits, coconut crème brûlée, espresso cheesecake - all exceptionally delicious. Thank you, Glass Wall!
We went to celebrate our anniversary and it was the perfect place. Everyone including the valet was super friendly. We started with the lobster dip, which was fantastic. Then we had red snapper with risotto and spinach. Everything was very flavorful. They surprised us with a slice of chocolate cake to help us celebrate.
We were seated at the table next to their wine storage. Lighting was horrible as the light above the table was missing - there was a nail in the wall where I assume the light should be. I ordered the veal tenderloin with risotto which came with a side of asparagus. The side was not listed in the menu - not being an asparagus fan, I would have likely picked another side or even another entree if I had known. The veal portion of the entire was small and the risotto was extremely salty. My wife got the beef tenderloin which was not very flavorful. Service was ok. The Brie appetizer was the best part of our meal. The cocktails were tasty, but small and overpriced. Based on our meal, we feel that there are much better dining experiences to be had elsewhere at this price point.
