Glass House Tavern Ratings and Reviews
Went here for Thanksgiving dinner. Had reservations for 1:15 but decided to head right over after the parade. We were seated immediately upstairs. The meal was delicious. I started with the risotto with duck confit. Cooked perfectly. For my entree I chose the traditional turkey dinner. All elements were in place and prepared on point. Finally how could I say no to Pumpkin Pie for dessert. Simple and delicious. Thanks to everyone for a great holiday meal.
We went here for the first time last Wednesday for the pre theater meal because we were seeing a play across the street. We were very impressed with the staff, especially our waiter. The food was delicious and the courses were perfectly paced. A great find!
As in my ratings, the food and service of the Glass House Tavern was exceptional. They had a delicious pre-theatre menu that was a great value, and the waiters were very attentive to us. We had a nice lunch and just a short walk to the theater. Highly recommend.
Everything was excellent. Requested a window table way in advance We were put way in the back by the fireplace. A very private place. My five year old was disappointed we were not seated by a window as this is where we always sit for our special occasions The children can look at all the people, passing and the theaters, which is what Broadway is all about. However another nice family memory.
We had a great lunch on a Saturday afternoon. There were very attentive to seating us on time. We were not going to a show so we weren't pressed to time but I could see that they were sensitive that some people may have that issue. We had the prefix brunch which was both delicious and a good value. The service was very good as well. This was my second time at the restaurant and my first experience was equally good. All in all a very positive experience. I am sure I will be back.
Our meal at Glass House Tavern was quite enjoyable. I enjoyed the house cocktail (pumpkin martini), and my husband's choice of the trout special was incredibly flavorful. My son's salmon over risotto was superb, as were the two appetizers (tomato/mozzarella salad & crab cake) I enjoyed as a main course. The only negative was the speed of a, I assume, new waitperson and her mishap with some glassware. Luckily we'd budgeted enough time before our 8:00pm show that we were able to enjoy the meal without fear of the extended time spent. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we will return to Glass House Tavern next time we're in New York.
Went for Thursday night pre-theater dinner at 5:30 prior to 7:00 pm show for Hamilton.
1. Prices are reasonable for Manhattan.
2. Good location , close to main theaters.
3. Service is adequate and earnest. Not easy to get everyone out by 6:40 or so pre-theater. I thought they could have used a few more waiters as it appeared the waiters had more tables to handle than would have been optimal.
4. We sat upstairs at a nice table. However, the chairs have been among the most uncomfortable I have ever sat on in my life; coupled with the fact that they are WAY too low for the height of the table !!!- ERGONOMICS MATTERS - as does comfort.
That alone would be reason enough for me not to ever return.
5. The food is ok...nothing more. Uninspired? Perhaps...but you are not going for fine dining; you are going for a fast , light meal before the theater so your stomach doesn't growl during the show, and you don't want to eat a heavy meal so you fall asleep.
7. Had a glass of wine with dinner; reasonable choice at reasonable prices.
I arrived on time, but my friends came by chartered bus and were delayed. (nearly half an hour.) I was able to be seated and wait for them. The wait staff couldn’t have been more accommodating & pleasant!!!
The food was great and they offer a fixed price meal for theater goers. All in all, it was a great experience. The restaurant also leads itself to host an intimate party on the second level. .
This was my 2nd time. My first visit was really wonderful which is why I picked it for last Sunday's special occasion. I was very disappointed. The service on my 2nd visit was terrible. They gave us the wrong food, we had to ask other staff to find our waitress numerous times, coffee came after the check and long after our desserts were finished.. and the restaurant wasn't overly crowded so there was no apparent reason for the bad service. I'm not sure how quickly I will be to go again, which is a shame since my first visit was completely different.
