Food was great.
Medium quality ambiance and service. Above avg entree. Priced about right.
A dependable pre-theater spot. Food and service always professional. Does get crowded and noisy, but that's part of the fun. One disappointment: my OpenTable reservation did not show up in their records. They did seat us despite this error.
Food was good. Staff seemed over whelmed with number of tables
It was warm and cozy on a freezing cold night.
Beautiful, clean and close to theater. Friendly staff . Nicely priced menu for upscale food😊. Does have stairs so be aware of this. It wasn't a problem for us. Call if you need an elevator to see if they have one.
Delicious pre-theatre dinner with very good service. Restaurant had a price-fixe menu which we took advantage off. Definitely was a great value and good options for everyone.
We had a great meal here. Solid pre theater selection.
This was our second time coming to Glass House. It has become part of our annual NYC trip. The food is great but the drinks are lacking. We ordered a round of special martinis and they were mediocre. At $14 per, I expect a great drink, filled to the top, not half way, and to look and taste great. I ordered the pomegranate martini and it tasted like a cosmo, and not a good one. My friend did the jalapeño martini and liked it. We ordered a second round, mine being a lemon drop martini and hers being the jalapeño. Hers was awful and mine tasted like lemonade with a giant wedge of seed filled lemon, one you would see hanging off an unsweetened ice tea glass. I sent mine back after letting my bartender friend taste it. He agreed that it tasted like lemonade without vodka. I watched the waiter go to the bar tenders and laugh about it, and then the bartender grabbed the well vodka, and topped off my drink. When it came back, we tasted it again and it was still awful and the waiter didn’t seem to care. He brought our check with the drinks still on the bill and I told him I refused to pay for such horrible drinks, especially because they were still sitting there untouched. The manager was very kind and took them off the bill which should have been done by the waiter who knew we were not happy. The bottom line is, if you want to ask premium prices for your drinks, hire a mixologist who knows how to make them well.
We were fortunate and had second floor window seating, so we could watch NYC go by in a warm and comfortable space. Our server was excellent, just the correct combination of taking care of you and not pestering you. My friend and I both had the Pre Fixe Brunch, ordering the same appetizer and entrée, starting with a beautifully chilled martini. The soup of the day, Tomato Basil was warm, hearty and flavorful. (I would have loved to have it with a beautiful grilled cheese!). Entrée was the Salmon over Couscous risotto. Every thing was beautifully executed and well seasoned, the fresh roasted corn in the couscous was a star! It was a much needed taste of summer in mid-January northeast. The chocolate cake I had was tasty, server warm (actually, hot) with gelato. My friend has the Bread Pudding which had a decidedly French toast vibe. It was quite tasty as well. The serving sizes were perfect, we had a three course meal that left us feeling satisfied but not overly full.
As an aside, the table beside us ordered a varies of salads - all of them looked spectacular.
Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Service was horrible. We sat for 10minutes waiting to be served. Server who I think was really a busboy said shift change. Shift change at 8 pm on Saturday night ?
No one checked on us during any course. Water glasses never filled.
When I expressed discontent the waiter said sorry. Really a shame because location and food were good. Someone should be fired.
Unfortunately, my potatoes were under cooked. They replaced them, however it was about half hour later since we couldn't seem to find our waitress who did not check on us at all until we flagged her down so we were nearly done eating by that time. Two others in attendance really enjoyed their meal.
The service was so slow it distracted from the experience sadly.
Excellent pre theatre dinner, restaurant well prepared for surge, great food, great service and out on time.
Pros: Great food and vibe. Pre theater menu is good value. Cons: Service was slow and our server was not warm or fuzzy. At 5:00pm they were “sold out” of one of the Vegan options.
Overall we were pleased and would return and recommend.
Every time we visit NYC and are in Times Square we know we will have a nice meal at Glass House Tavern.
Great spot for weekend brunch. Terrific Bloody Marys. Wonderful service. Would definitely go back.
This is an excellent spot for after theater with good food at good prices. Drinks are good too. My husband uses a walker, and I had forgotten since our previous visit that the main dining room is up a flight of stairs, so we were seated in a booth in the bar area. It was lively but not super noisy and the waitstaff could not have been nicer.
Food was delicious, but the service was completely indifferent. We waited a long time just for water, and refills? Had to ask repeatedly and never got them. Server took forever just to come to our table and take our orders. Seems a shame.
Very nice pre theater spot with a great menu! Staff were friendly. We were not rushed.
We always like to try new restaurants and this was suggested through Open Table. What a great find! The corn, couscous risotto was AWESOME!!!!!! No complaints about anything. Very nice restaurant, decent prices for Manhattan and a nice relaxed, cozy atmosphere. Casual but elegant!
Great pre-theater spot. I’ve been here twice. All the food was very good, and the location is excellent if you’re going to a Broadway show. Will definitely be back!
Delicious food, excellent service, and a lovely venue. Highly recommend!
Great price fixed dinner
As we were leaving a couple walked in to ask for directions to another restaurant
We told them, no you need to eat here...and so manager found them a table and they thanked us.
Excellent food. Servers are very efficient managing the pre-theater crowd. Highly recommend.
The drinks we ordered came quickly and were good. Bread was put on the table a little late but was warm. I ordered a special, quiche which came with a salad. I expected a small round quiche. Instead I got a slice of quiche, and it was not hot and slightly dry. The salad was tasty. My friend's sandwich was good but on the smaller size. Wait staff was friendly. Service was a little slow and it wasn't crowded. We did not get dessert as we were going to a show.
Great dinner next to our hotel!
My family of four was seated quickly and we were happy with the cleanliness, professional service, excellent menu choices, delicious meals and drinks. Nice atmosphere too. We’ll be back!
Half of my party showed up about a half hour early, and the staff sat them without any hesitation and without asking them to wait until the rest of the party showed up (which is rarely found in NYC). They even asked if they had a preference as to where they sat, and were able to give them a beautiful window seat. The cocktails were so delicious, and the food was amazing. I completely cleaned my plate! We were very impressed by the staff and the ambiance itself. Very professional, very delicious, very well done. I can’t wait to go again.
Pre-Theater is usually underwhelming but the Glass House is a lovely place. We had a wonderful server and I would go back for sure. We loved sitting at a high top in the bar area, fyi.
We came here on a Tuesday night before a show. Horrible service. We were seated earlier than our reservation (the only positive) but did not receive water for 15 minutes and that was after asking a bus boy. We didn’t have a waiter take our order for drinks for 20 minutes and then another waiter didn’t take our food order for 30 minutes. The waiter seemed inconvenienced by taking out order and only told us the specials when we asked. He said they were trying to get the 7pm show tables out and we told him we had 8pm tickets (this was at 7). The food came out relatively quickly considering the slow pace of starting the meal. Unfortunately, the crab cake was under seasoned and mediocre. The risotto was over cooked and lacked seasoning and the paella was unremarkable. Considering this is a pre theater restaurant, we would have expected any attention at the beginning of the meal. Considering the positive reviews, we were very surprised with the negative experience. Maybe it was a bad night, but it was our only experience and we will not be going back.
Tourists abound... once you get the attention of the wait staff good came speedy fast. Good only if you're seeing a play and need a quick meal. Not a favorite
Very good option for pre-theater dining. Convenient to all of the major Broadway theaters. Reliable, well-crafted food
Very nice pre theater lunch menu..............nice location, surely would return...
Excellent service. Our reservation was acknowledged promptly and our table was ready. Excellent beer/wine/cocktail menu. Did pre-theater price fixe. Good choices, portions, quality and value. Did not rush us out. Will go back.
Went for brunch before seeing a show and it was fantastic! Beautiful setting for the holidays and the food was amazing. Salmon was delicious.
I always love to come here. The Pomegrante
Martinis are the best in the country!!
Excellent service, excellent food + great atmosphere & location!
Food was delicious and well prepared. We had the pre-fixed dinner which kept us on schedule for our 7PM show. Service was quick and Chanel our waitress was so friendly, smiled and pleasant. Atmosphere was relaxing and casual. Definitely a gem!
This was the second time I have been to this restaurant and I would definitely go again. The food and the service is great.
