I expected something extraordinary based on the reviews and the difficulty in getting a 6pm reservation weeks in advance, so I was disappointed. The food was good, but nothing special, especially for the price. And we found the restaurant half-empty by the time we finished at around 6:30, so I don’t understand why more openings were not available.
Pre theatre dinner so it was quick. U was very happy.
Good spot for show.
We went to The Glass House Tavern before a show. We were a little later than our reservations but it didn’t seem to matter. They were not crowded on a Monday evening. The service was very good. Our server was always checking with us. My daughter and I shared the roasted chicken. We expected it to come on one plate. But the kitchen staff had split it so that each of us received a nicely presented dish. My husband had the seafood spaghetti, which he said was very good. Great variety of seafood in the dish. Overall we were happy with our meal and service.
Overall, we enjoyed our meal. It wasn't necessarily packed but the wait time was long. We were not in a rush so we didn't mind waiting, but if we had plans after the meal we would've been late.
I would say this is a good place to eat because the food is good. We went on Mother's Day, so I expect and understand if the service wasn't at its best, but the reality was this guy just didn't care. I won't go back because of it, but don't want to discourage others because of one server.
Have been for pre-theater lunch several times before. On Mother's Day, we were unable to get a 12:30 reservation (told they only take 12:00 and 1:30) before a 3:00 curtain. Probably good thing, because they were VERY slow to bring any food out, and we had ordered multiple courses. Waiter took a lot of time filling water at our table and others, took order and was otherwise MIA. Had to ask nearby manager setting a table to have our plates removed after entrees. Perhaps they were short staffed? No one ever checked on how our food was or asked if we wanted coffee at end of meal. That all being said, there are a lot of brunch options, a nice price-fixe available, and brunch and drinks were good.
We did not have a very good experience or meal while visiting The Glass House over the weekend. It started that our water glasses were all dirty when we sat down, then when we received our cocktails the glasses had multiple chips as well.
My entree was a filet, it had to be returned because it was completely chard black and inedible. My daughter had a grilled cheese that lacked any flavor. The manager was very nice to remove my filet from our bill, but we will not be returning. Beautiful restaurant that needs to improve on their quality control.
First time dining here and came for an anniversary dinner. I had a reservation for 4:45 on a Saturday night and was seated immediately. I thought the menu selections were good since I typically prefer non-standard entrees but there were chicken, beef and fish choices that were fine for those a bit more choosy. The cocktails were good, the food was delicious and the dessert was too. We thought the service was good also (one minor point was the wait for water refill). We were approached about drink choices soon after being seated and the appetizer was brought to us in just the right amount of time after we had eaten our bread. I would recommend this restaurant and would also come back myself.
Very nice brunch.
Everything was so delicious! I had the Salmon and it was so tender. My daughter had the Duck Pastrami and it looked more like tender loins, but it was very good and the spaghetti squash was really good as well! A great place to eat right after seeing a show!
Perfect menu and timing for a theater night - love it!!
The Glass House Tavern is our pre/post Theatre staple. The meals and the service never disappoint -- and it's minutes away from most Broadway theatres.
Pre theater dinner for 7:00 curtain we were told to come at 5:00. Seemed very early but now we know why. Service very pleasant but leisurely would be a nice way to say it. The bar is not near the upstairs dining room so it took over 15 minutes to get our drinks! Our waiter tried but he was overwhelmed with pre theater diners. Food was quite good once it arrived with very generous portions. We did not order from the prix fix so the salad was really enough for three people to share. Pastas also huge but lamb ragu delicious. Ditto seafood linguine. Left with plenty of time to make curtain two blocks away. And they validate parking for big discount in garage across the street.
We’ll be back!
We visited Glass House Tavern for dinner between seeing Part One and Part Two of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. We were seated right away and the waitress was understanding and attentive. The food was really delicious and so was the wine. We had a great dinner and were in out in plenty of time to get back to the magic. We will definitely return!
Great for pre theatre and/or after . Great food and service. Host and servers very accommodating.
Delight lunch pre matinee!
Service was great and they were geared to get us it for our show . Price fix is good deal
Service and food were very good! Will definitely return!
The staff is always pleasant and helpful. The food was never- chicken was sweet (how odd) and they were out of chocolate ice cream. Timing was excellent.
Always a great option for pre theater and food is quite good. Their hanger steak on the price fixer was awesome but don’t see it offered. Salmon excellent
I had never been here before. I chose this restaurant because it was across from the theatre where we had Sunday tickets. All three of us ordered the pri fixe Sunday brunch. It was delicious. I started with the yogurt parfait which was fresh, tasty, and crunchy with granola and fruit. One friend had the salad an another the soup. They both liked it. Then I had the frittata which was light and fluffy and they had the avocado toast and salmon. The cous cous was garlicky and delicious and the salmon superb. We ordered all three desserts. They were perfect.
I just went to Glass House Tavern for the first time while spending the weekend in NYC with my sister's in law and my mom. The food was excellent! The menu had a great variety, including wines and cocktails. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely be back!
Good spot for pre-theatre meal, food very good, service efficient and courteous. Pretty noisy but in a bustling NYC kind of way and conversations can be had. Upstairs and back are quietest. Parking right across the street.
The meal, service and ambiance was perfect for our pretheatre event. The Saviogne Blanc was delicious as was the bronzino. Servers were helpful in getting us out in time for the show across the street. Can’t go wrong here!
Good brunch/lunch menu. Decent service. We’ll be back!
We stopped at the Glass House Tavern for brunch. A great variety for a good price. The mushroom cheese quiche was fantastic - light and airy; not heavy like most quiche. Wait staff is friendly and not intrusive.
The staff is very attentive to the needs of their guests without hovering over them. We were asked if we were attending a show and the time of the show. The wait staff timed our meals perfectly to permit a leisurely dining experience and get us to the show on time.
The prefixe meals selections were nicely varied and delicious from salad to dessert.
After the show it was raining so we decided to return to enjoy a cocktail in the bar rather than stand in the rain for a car. We each had a blood red martini, excellent.
It was still raining when we were preparing to leave. The host and hostess offered us a complimentary umbrella. My boyfriend told them we were from out of town and unable to return it. They said it didn’t matter and handed us an umbrella with a smile. They and the restaurant went above and beyond taking care of their customer !
I meet friends here, before
matinees and am never disapointed. The food is good and a variety of choices are availabe. This last visit however had out of town customers who were very loud. We did ask them to lower their voices but the manager (who heard them) should have done so. This was unusual since the noise level is usually contained.
Seating choices downstairs included a booth under an A/C vent with one person in the booth staring directly at the television or a table with incredibly uncomfortable curved back chairs that provided no support. Upstairs the tables for four were laid out in a row with little space between them. No ambiance at all. We ended up downstairs in the uncomfortable chairs.
The restaurant became very noisy and for some odd reason it took a very long time to get a bread basket consisting of one croissant and a few muffins. The server looked like he wanted to be somewhere else.
The food was very good and there were several options that sounded like we wanted to try them. Quiche and omelette we did order were delicious.
If I return I would request a table in the front room.
Excellent food wonderful service!!
I was thrilled to finally have been able to make a dinner reservation at Glass House Tavern after trying a few times before. Had been here for drinks and snacks before theatre, and this was my first dinner experience. It will not be my last! Very enjoyable - good food and great service and value.
We were in town for the weekend to see a few Broadway shows. The hotel concierge recommended this restaurant to us and we were not disappointed. Our server Alain, was attentive, friendly and a real asset to the owners of this restaurant. If all servers were like him, The Dino world would be a better place.
Loved the food and the wait staff got us out of there,
without hurrying us, in time for the play
Delicious food and fabulous service. Perfect for Pre theatre dining
We were early for our reservation but were seated promptly - good thing because it became very busy. We were seated upstairs and it was nice. Try not to get seated in the back of restaurant upstairs-kind of dark. I tried the set price brunch - which included 3 courses. 1st course I chose the yogurt parfait - plenty of yogurt and fresh fruit; 2nd course I chose the quiche of the day - veggie - not a large piece but very filling and it came with a small salad with a tasty dressing; 3rd course a warm chocolate fudge cake with ice cream. This was a great choice and filled me for the rest of the day. Friend had a sandwich with a side salad - she raved about it. Fresh warm rolls were also served. Service started out very attentive but as it got busy we had to ask for our server to get more ice tea and then it took several requests to get the check. Again glad we were seated early so that we could make the theater performance on time. All in all a pleasant experience. Would go again especially since it’s so close to theatre district.
Food was very good cocktails were fantastic. Very accommodating as we had to change our time. Food took a little long to come to the table
Met friends for our anniversary , food was great, service wonderful so glad I chose to eat here. I recommend to anyone.
Early dinner after off-broadway show. Comfortable seating. Noise level very manageable even as it became busy. Delicious risotto appetizer! Filet mignon cooked perfect. Added to a very happy day out and about in the city. Will definitely come back.
Great food and fast service. Very personable and friendly waiter.
