We enjoyed a wonderful Prix Fixe meal including appetizers; mushroom soup, salad, crab cake.
Main dish; chicken stew, mushroom pasta, salmon. Dessert; chocolate cake, panna cota, and bread pudding. It was my daughter's birthday and they supplied us with a free serving of donut holes with a ricotta filling and dipping sauces. And the restaurant was right next to the theater where we saw "Watress".
nice atmosphere. food and cocktails were delicious. restaurant was packed but noise levels were low. staff is very gracious. I would definitely dine here again.
Food was mediocre been there at least 6 times. Did not enjoy it this past time
Consistently good food. Excellent service. We went for an early dinner after a 2 o'clock matinee.
Our server was very nice, personable and attentive. However, our dinners took a long time to come out. He did keep telling us we would be served soon but we noticed 3 other parties that arrived after us, served before us
This was the waiters first day here, but he no prior experience in good service.
Should only hire waiters with good experience. Low standards here.
Food was good.
I went with seven friends yesterday, first time any of us ate here. We all loved the place. It has a really nice atmosphere. We were seated right by the fireplace. It was so lovely, our waiter took a photo of us standing there. A few of us ordered the crab cake for an appetizer, amazing, came w seaweed salad, lovely. Some of us ordered from prixe fixe luncheon menu, great value for $27, includes appetizer, crab cakes $4 extra, but so worth it, many enrtee choices and dessert. Amazing, I was so full, I gave my dessert to a friend who ordered from regular menu. The dessert I gave away, which was well-loved by my friend, was chocolate cake w vanilla ice cream, berries and dessert sauce. You can see why I couldn't eat it as my food was so filling. Some other friend also ordered from regular menu and had delicious experiences also. We will so definitely come back here.
We made a reservation for dinner for a party of four in advance of attending a Broadway show. After greeting us, our waiter asked if we were seeing a show and what time it started to ensure we would be served on time. All of us enjoyed our cocktails and dinner; I had the lamb bolognese, and I highly recommend it! We had an excellent experience, and I would definitely come again.
We chose this restaurant because of recommendations and because of its convenient location in the theater district. We went for lunch and were well-satisfied in every way. The restaurant was busy, but we were seated at our reservation time and were attended by efficient and conscientious servers. I wish I had the name of the young woman who was our server. She was delightful and added to the positive experience. The food was very good. My companion had the soup de jour and the crabcake appetizer. I had the prix fixe: salad, pasta mushroom bolognese and pana cotta. The portions were ample. We will keep this restaurant on our list of favorites.
4/10/17 Went with a party of 7 for a pre theater dinner. Several of us chose the $42 prix fixe 3 course meal while several of us just ordered from the regular menu. Food was very good and everything was prepared exactly as ordered. The one person who ordered pasta felt that it needed more sauce which was provided immediately. Our waiters were very pleasant and very attentive. They knew we were heading to the theater and the timing was perfect.
We have eaten at Glass House Tavern several times for dinner. Its location is convenient to the theatre.
Yesterday we ate there for brunch for friends. It was quite disappointing. The food was fair and the portions were extremely small. The price did not reflect the appropriate size of the portion nor the quality of the brunch. The restaurant had many vacant tables for Sunday brunch. That should have been a clue to us. We will think about returning there again.
We were in NY for a 16th Birthday weekend. We booked this restaurant based on its notoriety and we also thought it would be nice after the 2 pm showing of Anastasia as it was close. The only good thing about the tavern was they sat us early. They did not acknowledge my daughter’s birthday at all and I included that in the reservation note. The server was nice enough but no real personality. Our waters were never refilled and my daughter was never offered another drink after her initial Shirley Temple. My sangria was “ok” and there was no option for Riesling by the glass, so I chose a Chardonnay that arrived after my dinner. Dinner was good, but no wow factor and certainly not worth the price. I don’t like to give bad reviews but I feel that for 150.00 we should have been super satisfied. The ambiance was blah for lack of a better term and I was more disappointed because it was supposed to be a special occasion. Don’t waste your money.....
We went here for a pre-show dinner. There is a pre-fix option or you can choose from the full menu. Just remember to tell them you are going to a show. We planned for 2-1/2 hours before the show and had plenty of time. We decided on the pre-fix menu. The atmosphere is somewhat like an old steak house. The service was great and the food was good and what we expected. If you are looking for something high-end, this is probably not the place for you.
Good, solid food and attentive and professional waitstaff and management. Lively but quiet enough for conversation. Great place for pre-theater dinner. Have been several times and never disappoints.
Great find in the theatre distinct. Pre fixe great deal with excellent food. Best meal I had in NYC.
This was my 3rd visit to Glass House Tavern. We will definitely come back again. Food and service were great. Nice choices for 11:30 am before theater lunch/brunch. Prices were very good and the location couldn't be better.
Great spot for dinner in the city, near theater district. Great, friendly service. Great drinks and food. A very nice experience.
Loved this restaurant food was delicious and the service was excellent. My only complaint would be the table we were seated at it was sort of in the hallway and the restaurant sections were much nicer. This might be the only reason I would not go back.
My favorite resturant on Broadway. Best staff and greetings warmly given by Noel, Billy and lead by Chris. Food is wonderful and they are mindful of conversations, show times and jovial nature of late night gatherings. They are a big part of Broadway and support of the Broadway community. This is the place to be noon and night. Bravo, Hurrah and Cheers.
We had a 5:15 reservation and placed our order by 5: 40. Appetizers were served promptly but the main courses did not arrive until 6:35. The waiter and host were aware that we had a 7 pm curtain and kept apologizing. However, we had to eat so quickly that It was actually unpleasant. No time for dessert, coffee or swallowing. Have eaten here before pre-theater with no issue, clearly this was a bad night foe the restaurant yet they had no issue bringing the check on time.
We enjoyed our meal! It was overall a great dining experience. Quiet noise level and really good food. We had the seafood spaghetti and loved it, other members of the party ordered burgers and said they were very good as Well. All and all a good experience!
great for before or after theater, especially for The Band's Visit at the
Barrymore Theater across the street
Excellent meals (salmon) presented by very fine waitstaff. Sat upstairs which was MUCH quieter than previous experience at downstairs bar area. Relaxing post-theater dinner. Lovely.
Great pre-fix before the theatre
I come to NYC at least once a year to have a tourist experience (I am originally from the Bronx).
This is by far one of the best restaurants I have eaten at. The crab cakes are divine!
Seeing Hamilton! 🤩
Our 2nd time at the Glass Tavern. It is a great find in the theatre district. They offer a very nice menu, including seafood, pasta; and a great brunch menu as well. Service was very good, and prices are reasonable for NYC. We'll definitely be back again.
Love Glass House. Delicious Food, good selection, lovely service.
One of our party has allium allergy, was recommended and served a dish with onion.
Have loved this place for pre-theatre dinners, but made the mistake of going at 7PM, when the staff clearly wanted to be on their break. Took forever to get a drink and - despite only three tables being occupied in the upstairs front room - it was almost impossible to get the server's attention.
We really enjoyed our pre-show meal at Glass House Tavern! Our server was respectful of our commitment and made sure the meal was paced appropriately to get us out of there in a timely fashion. The steak was a.maz.ing!
For pre-theater, it works, but you get the sense it is a machine run to churn you in and grind you out. Some servers seem less pleased to serve than others. Seek out Chanel. She is pleasant, gracious and interested in serving you.
The food was delicious and our waiter
Was very pleasant and answered all of the questions we had for him. We have eaten eaten here before a few times and keep coming back since it is a perfect place to enjoy good food and good company!
Always a treat to eat at The Glass House Tavern pre-theatre. We did not order the prixe fixed menu this time. The spaghettini with seafood was wonderful, although a bit heavy on the spaghetti. My daughter had a nice sized order of mussels and appetizer of ahi tuna. Both were presented nicely and very tasty. The service and ambiance were also very good. We will definitely return.
Love Glass House. It's been my go-to spot for years!
Nice brunch before a broadway show!
Yummy food and great service. We went before seeing Hamilton so they were good about getitng our dinner out in time for that...good food - small menu but tasty and they had a great wine list...would definitely go back!
Good, not great. Paella was terrific and duck was quite good. But the berries that accompanied dessert had been frozen and were dehydrated to the point of chewiness. They were inedible and I’m surprised they were served.
We had a great pre-show meal at the Glass House Tavern. From arrival to leaving, we were treated well. The food was terrific!
