New York is overwhelming when it comes to many things especially restaurants. There are so many to choose from but this was an excellent choice. Wait staff was awesome. Attentive. This was restaurant week in NYC and we ordered from that particular menu which had a nice array of choices. Everything was delicious. Cooked perfectly. Decent portions. Great place.
Great food. Service was amazing too. I love the salmon
Pleasantly surprised! Everything was great!
pre theater lunch, service started out amazing but restaurant became very busy and service fell off. food delicious
I visited The Glass Tavern on a quiet MLK Holiday evening with brisk winds and a 25 degree temp outside. As usual, the Tavern had its warm but energetic atmosphere underway. I sat at a table in the bar section and enjoyed exceptional service throughout my visit. My server provided fantastic menu selection coaching including the delicious roasted acorn squash salad and the Pinot Noir wine by the glass . I ordered the Roast Organic Chicken with mushrooms and fingerling potatoes. This simple dish was exquisitely prepared and perfect. Unlike many chicken entrees elsewhere, it was a sizable chicken and completely satisfying. The service from both the server and bar tender was terrific. Despite not being at The Tavern for many months, the ever gracious owner,Chris, stopped by to catch up. In the midst of tourist Mecca and impersonal Times Square, the Glass House is an oasis of classy congeniality and first class hospitality.
Although I rated Service as Fair, that mark is not really for the wait staff. They were attentive and pleasant. That rating was for the Hostess. When we asked to have a different table, she begrudgingly moved us to one two tables away. When we said that we'd prefer to sit somewhere else she said there were no other tables. We were in the restaurant on Sunday at 1:00. The restaurant was far from filled and there were many empty tables, both upstairs where we were sitting and downstairs. As a matter of fact, when we left the restaurant 90 minutes later, the restaurant had even fewer customers than when we arrived. I could understand not accommodating our request for a different table if the restaurant were filled or if there were people waiting for tables, but neither of those situations was the case. I was truly looking forward to dining here last Sunday as it's been a while since I was able to get a reservation; I'm not so sure that I'll be returning again soon.
I had the French toast my wife had the eggs Benedict both were great! The home fries were ver good as well. Our server was delightful and helpful. Great pre-theater brunch on a Sunday. I would imagine it would be a great dinner option as well. Be sure to m are a reservation.
GHT is very convenient and the food is good enough, but this visit was disappointing. Don’t understand why you can’t add items to an omelet. It’s pricey, especially for brunch. Salmon was $27. Even the coffee tasted weird. Again, it’s close to theater district but I’d express my complaints before recommending to a friend.
This was my first time and it was wonderful. The food was yummy and the service excellent. I will definitely be back.
Great experience! Arrived 15 minutes early on a cold snowy evening and were immediately seated. Service was on point and our meal was perfect! Would highly recommend!
We have eaten here numerous times and are never disappointed. The food is delicious and the wait staff spot on. It is evident that your patronage is appreciated.
We were earlier then expected getting into city so phoned restaurant to see if we could come earlier. We could and they were very gracious about it. Service person and table staff were very accommodating and nice. Overall excellent experience as always.
I have been to Glass House Tavern a number of times, we come from out of town and I look forward to it every time we come!
have been there at ;east a half dozen times and never been disappointed - proximity to the theater district is perfect - the wait staff extremely attentive to special dietary needs (allargies) - and the menu continues to be varied and difficult to select just one perfect meal
The service and food were excellent. This was our first time here and we will happily return.
Food was very good, great atmosphere. Service was slow and we had to rush through desert to get to our play. The waitress and waiter were talking and didn’t ask us if we needed anything else. It was difficult to get their attention to order another drink. That being said, we really loved the restaurant but hope next time we get different servers.
The restuarant did not mention on its website that it was on the second floor.
Also food was delicious but cold. took over 5 minutes to get it back
Good food but I think you can find better in a place like NYC! overall happy and the service was great
My daughter and I recently visited Glass House Tavern for a pre-show brunch. The service was attentive and the food was delicious. Would definitely go back again.
Fantastic place for a Sunday brunch. Great food, nice and open but still not too loud.
Been here many times; always a favorite!
Great food and service!! Perfect for before or after a show
Glass House Tavern is a quiet respite in a noisy Times Square neighborhood. A very unassuming exterior and simple decor lead to a creative menu, excellent attentive but not overpowering service, a good wine list and a nice choice of desserts. The salads are large, fresh and full of surprises; the paella was loaded with seafood and spiced just right; the Bronzino sat on a nice bed of spaghetti squash. The wine list includes many half bottles, a rarity in Manhattan. Another nice touch was our individual coffee pot with 4 full cups of steaming coffee inside. We went post-matinee (5 pm) and never felt rushed. I would go back in a minute.
Our table of 4 all had the prix fixe meals, which were excellent (salmon with citrus cous cous and filet mignon), but just a small portion. Service was excellent and easily got to our show on time.
For our pre-theater restaurant stop, we chose this restaurant at random and could not be happier with our choice! The meals were a great value and everyone in our party of 7 found food they could eat and were happy with! Amazing! Wonderful service and they were so accommodating when the size of our group changed. This is a place to go back to when we're next in the city!
We had a great time at the Glass Tavern yesterday! The restaurant is lovely inside, the service was professional and prompt. We enjoyed the food very much! The tomato soup was wonderful and so was the salad with quinoa, apple, pecans, and greens.
kale salad was delicious, the tuna tartar perfect, the crab cake all crab meat
didnt like my pinot noirs
bread looked awful
So great to go to a restaurant in the "BIG" City and feel as welcomed as if you are in your hometown.
Thank you Noel and Carlos for making the experience ALWAYS a pleasure.
Great food, great location and wonderful staff!!! Everyone we have recommended the restaurant to has shared our appreciation.
Thank you for a great meal. Looking forward to our next visit.
Great restaurant to go to before seeing a Broadway play. Service was excellent and friendly. We celebrated my friends birthday. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. The paella’s delicious. I love that they acknowledged the occasion. It makes a restaurant more special!
The lunch prix fixe menu was perfect - great selections, with larger than expected portions. Glad i had room for dessert - the cappuccino panna cotta was incredible!
I asked for a quiet table and although it started out quiet upstairs, the table was right next to the bar which got quite loud as the evening progresses. The service was mediocre. The skin on the duck confit was not crispy. All in all, I was disappointed.i
We had a 6:45 reservation and an 8 pm show- which we told our server about. Seated on time. Was not busy at the time but had to ask for bread, ask waiter to take our order and was served our main course (only had a salad to start) at 7:45. The food was actually very good- nothing special- but well prepared. Having to shovel it down in 5 minutes was NOT FUN.
you guys are always great...professional yet friendly. our waitress actually gave me a hug after delivering my bday cake! we'll be back soon:)
It was a good choice for a pre theatre lunch, nothing extraordinary.
This was our first visit for lunch and it was wonderful. Nice ambience. Great location with excellent proximity to the theatre district. We were celebrating a birthday and they took care if everything. Definitely recommend.
I celebrated my anniversary at the Glass House Tavern. We were greeted very nicely by the host, who sat us and brought champagne. The restaurant was beautiful inside; we did not have to wait too long for our food, and the menu was impressive.
We were in New York to enjoy some time with our teenagers. They were at a show together on our first night in the city so my husband and I had a date night. The food was awesome and the ambiance was great. I would have given the restaurant 5 stars if the service has been more than so-so. Both servers seemed disinterested and pretty much inattentive. The lovely man who bussed food for the kitchen had more personality and was friendlier than both our servers and then some. I enjoy this place and I hope it works to improve the serving staff.
Came in with friends from out of town. Looking for brunch, must’ve missed when booking, only on weekends! So looked at price fixed menu, uninspiring, looked at regular menu, settles for burger. Ordered halibut for mother-in-law, undercooked, figured chef was still on vacation!
Hit & miss!
The food was great. Our wait person (Elsie) knowledgeable and friendly. Loved it.
