About this restaurant

  • Great for scenic views
  • Great for outdoor dining
  • Romantic
In a world where landmarks are few and far between there is Gladstones. Situated where Sunset Boulevard meets the Pacific Coast Highway, it's become a place of Southern California legend. Gladstones offers a menu plucked from the very ocean it overlooks, serving modern renditions of classic dishes. In its typically relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, there's something to satisfy every palate. Whether you're at the raw bar, the lounge, the dining rooms or the grand patio over-looking the surf, it's commonly agreed there's no better place, either up the coast or down, to enjoy fresh seafood, a Mai Tai or a sunset. Gladstones has been named an "Editor's Pick" in Sunset Magazine, one of Gayot.com's "Top 10 Outdoor Dining Restaurants" in L.A. and one of CBS Los Angeles's "Best Seafood" restaurants.

The worst food and service , McDonald's would have been a better experience.

I've never been to this restaurant before. Our server was amazing though! Food was fair, but way overpriced. The limited menu we ordered off of had the wrong pricing. I checked my receipt after we left and noticed we were overcharged by $5.00 on each menu item we ordered. My bill was over $300 for a table of four. I guess I expected a 5-star meal for that price.

We went to Gladstones to celebrate mother's day however when we got there, there was a water main break and the main kitchen was closed and indoor seating was closed as well. We were very disappointed that we had to choose from a limited menu. Wish they told us in advance as the water main broke the day before.

Subpar experience at Gladstones. Sadly their water main broke and this limited their bar and food menu. Besides that our waiter forgot our oysters and the food was ok at best. I’m an LA local and won’t come back here any time soon. The food trucks along ocean in Santa Monica would have been better.

You are paying for the view. The menu and quality of food could be improved.

I have visited Gladstones in Pacific Palisades many times over the years. The location and the ambience on the patio are the best things about this place. The drinks and food are always good (we both had a Bloody Mary and the tasty, meaty Fish we weren’t offered a bread basket; we waited 35 minutes to get our food (our waitress never once stopped by to update us on the delayed status of our meal), and then we had to remind the man who delivered our food that our meal came with coleslaw (which had been omitted from both of our plates). Honestly, the best, friendliest, and most prompt service came from the parking valets. NOTE: there is an $11-13 charge for parking — and no restaurant validation.

I first went to Gladstone’s in the late 90’s and the food was incredible-the clam chowder was the best I had ever had. It is definitely not what it used to be. The clam chowder was weak- the crab cakes were horrible. It wasn’t crowded like it used to be. It was a shell of itself.

The restaurant is in a real need of a renovation. The bar was run down and in need of restoration as the wood on the bar was peeling and needs to be polished. The restroom was also subpar there were obvious patches on the wall that weren’t blended into the wall and paint. The food was okay we ordered ceviche which was super small and the tostada that comes with it was particularly small. It just wasn’t worth it I would’ve rather gone to Maestros.

Great to sit and watch the sunset. Food is good. Not amazing but plenty good enough to enjoy the setting. Can be a bit busy and touristy but I enjoy sitting at the water. With the right mindset can be a nice evening or lunch with that someone special.
