Delicious as always! Fresh seafood, yummy burgers & steak!
Great place to celebrate a special occasion with my wife!!!
We had a big group, 4 adults and 4 kids and we had a corner window table. The weather was perfect and we got to see a school of dolphins in the ocean. The food was delicious and had the chocolate cake for dessert and then got the to go wrap and they wrap it into animals, we chose a dinosaur. It was a work of art. The waitress was great and we will definitely be back.
No point in making a reservation when you have to wait almost an hour to be seated after telling them you’ve been waiting for over an hour after my reservation time.
Our service was friendly, efficient, and timely, not on professional par with V’s in Malibu, but about the same level of attention as Geoffrey’s in Malibu. The clam chowder was the best New England clam chowder I’ve ever had, whether East Coast or West Coast. If I hadn’t ordered a meal, I would have ordered a bowlful rather than a cup. I even considered changing my order to just more clam chowder. It was that good. The onion rings were huge slices of onion in a generous pile, nicely covered in a crumb not batter coating, and perfectly fried. This was the first time that my husband and I, lovers of onion rings, didn’t clean the plate. This was a big serving of onion rings, enough for 4-5 people. The crab cakes had good flavor, and were a tad too brown. The accompanying salad was perfectly proportioned, and a bit overdressed. My husband ordered the spicy ahi tuna with haricots verts and maybe mashed potatoes. He said it was very good. While I usually like to order a dessert, and the waiter invariably brings two forks so that my husband may partake, the meal was so filling that I couldn’t consider adding dessert to an already full stomach. We ordered beers, and my dark beer (not quite a Guinness) was very good. The meal price was hefty for rustic tables with no tablecloths and the use of the trendy kitchen towels in place of regular cloth napkins. The ocean view was very good. Outside on the adjacent terrace to our beachside table, a mother with her college age youth and two peers enjoyed drinks. The parking consists of 1) valet parking $10 plus tip or 2) after 6 PM, park on wide beachside shoulder adjacent to the valet lot for free. Would we eat here again? I plan to order the clam chowder for takeout. At these dine in prices, I prefer other restaurants closer to my home in Malibu. Then again, I live locally and I have a beautiful ocean view. If I were on a date heading to a destination restaurant, this is an excellent choice.
Not worth it in any way !
We usually come to celebrate one of our birthdays or pur anniversary. We love the clambake. Service onthis visit was excellent and the manager stopped by to thank my hisband for his service to our country as a Marine.
Too bad no one told us the kitchen would be closed due to the gas being turned off when we traveled from Florida so my husband could have Oysters Rockefeller for his 70th birthday lunch.
Great views! Loved the California salad and crabcakes
Service was bad and when our food came it was cold
They had to send back part of their order as it was not made the way we ordered it
Food not great
Bizarre. Why a restaurant renowned for it's view needs a loud dj is beyond me. Messy, hyper touristy, with food that is reminiscent of institutional cafeterias (although not the pricing.) In choosing between mahi and trout, the best advice was (well, the trout is a longer piece of fish.) Cold calamari was replaced within seconds, seems they cook large batches at a time, which does nothing for the food. Burger had the texture and flavor of frozen meat patties, fries the color and texture of having been cooked long before being served. They have someone that goes around wrapping leftover food in foil so as to look like mermaids or dinosaurs. Maybe there are mermaids in the ocean, but this restaurant is a real dinosaur, presumably (and hopefully) on the verge of extinction.
We were very excited to have brunch at Gladstones on Easter Sunday, which also happened to be the re-launching of the restaurant. When we arrived for our 1:30 p.m. reservation, the kitchen had already turned over to lunch instead of its posted time on the website for brunch until 2:00 p.m. Although our server could not help us because she was instructed not to take any more breakfast orders, she sent her manager, Jim, over to talk with us. He very graciously offered to talk to the chef to see if we could have breakfast. Jim made it possible for us to order seafood omelettes and we were thrilled since we had our hearts set on brunch. The omelettes were delicious! We really appreciated the excellent service from both our server and Jim. What could have a disappointing experience turned out lovely. I will definitely go back. Perhaps a bit earlier next time unless they plan to extend their brunch hours!
Brunch was terrible. Cold, dry and no flavor. Food took forever. We’ve been there for dinner several times and have been so happy but today was a disaster. Our waitress was very nice but it was just so busy. Ruined our Easter.
The location is amazing, but this was the worst service I've ever experienced at a restaurant. It honestly felt like we were getting pranked. We were at our table for a good 45 minutes before we even got drinks - and then we were told that the kitchen couldn't keep up with incoming orders so they were limiting the menu items being offered so they could catch up. No joke! Adding insult to injury, we could see menu items being served to tables around us that we weren't being offered... The manager was getting complaints from all the tables in our section because their system made absolutely no sense. Things just kept going downhill. I love the large outdoor space and love that you can go right down to the sand for a walk on the beach after your meal, but this 3 1/2 hour drama left a bad taste in my mouth. Wasted potential!
Fun to be on the beach! Great chowder!
We liked the relaxed atmosphere and watching the dolphins swim by in the Pacific.
The lobster roll was ok, sweet potato fries were not very crisp.
The view was wonderful but the food was very mediocre & expensive. I'm all for a great restaurant on the water & willing to pay for it but the food was just above mediocre at best. Would not go back.
Service was fair & didn't match expense
I love Gladstones. Great view, food, drinks and service!
It good as usual. It was a quiet night but everything was just right
Always love my time here! Great , friendly and timely service. Great seafood, great views!
Great sunset and New England clam chowder.
Horrible! They had no draught beer, then we ordered wine, they were out of the two bottles we selected. Then we had mussels which were drenched in tomato sauce. The shrimp cocktail was tasteless and we decided to leave and have dinner else where. The view was the only good thing and Gladstone’s
Over twenty-five years ago I brought my out of town parents to Gladstones for a fun lunch at the beach - since then my now 86 year old father always requests we come back when he visits. This most recent trip was no exception and we had a lovely time. My father's favorite was his MOJITO!! and Oysters. And I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious my Chicken Wrap was for a "Seafood" joint. As always, we all gobbled up those amazing French fries.
Thanks for another great lunch!
Angel was the best server EVER!!
The indoor ambiance was nice for casual dining and the view of the ocean was beautiful. The service was great. There is a guy who will wrap your leftovers in creative animal shaped foil which was fun.
The outside looked like a rundown beach place and the food was overpriced for the quality.
Gorgeous view of Malibu Beach...it’s on the edge of the water & beach.
Good food but expensive. The person with me ordered Brussel sprouts on the side and got a huge pile of them, I ordered the corn on the cob on the side and barely got a half piece. Salmon was great tasting but $38 as a special. It was just a piece of salmon and my mini corn on the cob. Toilets were very dirty, very off putting and unexpected at a restaurant of this caliber.
Food and service was great.. prices were to expensive..
Service was GREAT! Friendly staff and the food was delicious!
Great experience! Beautiful setting. Friendly service.
Love this place!! Only complaint is that the chocolate cake was horrible. :(
went down hill a lot, food quality and price not comparable. sad because this feels like one of the last local spots when you don't want to do Nobu or Mastro...
Great place with great food!!!
Beautiful view and friendly staff. The Ahi Salad was excellent and so was the vegan pasta. The only disappointment was glutinous New England style clam chowder (but it had lots of clams in it). We certainly recommend.
After years of passing Gladstones on PCH, we finally stopped into this SoCal institution.
The outdoor seating area is really cute, however it was a little chilly outside (even with the heat lamps) so we opted to sit inside. We were seated near a door that servers were using to access the outdoor patio - needless to say, it was chilly inside too.
Our server was friendly, but not entirely attentive. Our meal was okay but far from anything special. Disappointing is that unless you park your car on PCH, the only parking available is valet for $11.00 plus tip.
Glad we gave it a try, but probably won’t be back.
Something needs to be done with the bathrooms. The men’s bathroom was dirty and in need of an update. My wife says the same about the women’s restroom. The table we sat in by the window was dirty and cramped. My wife and I both had to clean our wine glasses before pouring our wine. I sent my silverware back because it had dried food on it.
What happened to the Grand Old Lady at Sunset and PCH?!? Oh! We were, literally, devestated at what has become of Gladstone's. My family has been going to Gladstone's since it opened, though we had not been in about 10 years. We went for my wife's birthday - a special night out without the kids - and we will not be back - we'll go up the coast to Duke's.
We made the reservation and noted that it was for my wife's birthday. For 7:30 - not even sunset. We asked for an ocean seat. When we arrived the three hostesses told us "15-20 minutes." Ai-yi-yi. Over AN HOUR LATER, we were still sitting at the bar. Those three hostesses were absolutely terrible. They had no clue what was going on - zero. There open tables along the water - they had no explanation why nobody was sitting there. When they finally sat us, they put us next to the barback station. It was horrible. And there were, what, 15 people in the restaurant (although there were some outside as well). We were so disgusted, we just just took our seats and dealt with it.
There were two manic kids running around screaming their heads off 5 feet from us - it was like McDonald's - seriously. And then, as if I needed the nail driven any deeper, my dinner was served cold. I. Kid. You. Not.
Had it not been for Angel, our server, and the guys at the bar (super, super, super cool, great guys) I would have said that this was the worst dining experience I have ever had in Los Angeles. It was that bad. Those hostesses should not only be fired, but black-balled from the restaurant industry. They had no clue we were there, no clue that anybody was there. Not one time did any one of them come up to apologize, give an update, nada. And, if there were not three working the hostess stand.... that tells ya all you need to know, because there were three up there all night.
Shame on the management for what it has become.
Touri$t trap. Everything is over priced, food is not that great of quality. They gave me instant mashed potatoes as my side.
We had out-of-town relatives visiting for the Genesis Open. Gladstones is a fun, kick-back spot with the best views of Malibu/Palisades---right on the ocean. Lots of seafood choices, good bar and kid-friendly spot for a casual get together.
Yummy food in a beautiful setting!
Valentine’s Day prix fixe menu—bad food.
