About this restaurant

  • Great for scenic views
  • Great for outdoor dining
  • Romantic
In a world where landmarks are few and far between there is Gladstones. Situated where Sunset Boulevard meets the Pacific Coast Highway, it's become a place of Southern California legend. Gladstones offers a menu plucked from the very ocean it overlooks, serving modern renditions of classic dishes. In its typically relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, there's something to satisfy every palate. Whether you're at the raw bar, the lounge, the dining rooms or the grand patio over-looking the surf, it's commonly agreed there's no better place, either up the coast or down, to enjoy fresh seafood, a Mai Tai or a sunset. Gladstones has been named an "Editor's Pick" in Sunset Magazine, one of Gayot.com's "Top 10 Outdoor Dining Restaurants" in L.A. and one of CBS Los Angeles's "Best Seafood" restaurants.

Too expensive. $10 to park and no validation. Food was good. Well presented. Again, too expensive. Loved it 30 years ago. Now won’t go back.

I used go to Gladstone's years ago. Like the new remodel, great patio, and great service. Also the greatest mashed potatoes ever. Just would like a few more entries for those of us who don't each much fish. But just loved it. Will be back again.

Coffee was like warm. Had to request a fresh hot pot. Chocolate cake was very disappointing. Otherwise service was great and food was okay for the price.

Gladstones used to be great, so sad to see them fall so low. before we went this time we had gone previously and noticed the decline in food quality and increase in prices, armed with the knowledge of our previous visit we ordered a $15 cheeseburger thinking "how can you mess up a burger." Sadly they fell short of our lowest expectations :(. the burger was burnt (not well done, BURNT), dry as a hockey puck, and (other than the burnt flavor) flavorless. They did recently renovate the interior which is nice but one of the most important parts of a restaurant (the kitchen) was entirely overlooked and left to rot. the best things on the menu are the clam chowder and sourdough bread (which they charge for now and it used to be included) They have a bathroom attendant, which in the proper setting I don't really have anything against but here it was just awkward. the bathrooms aren't that big so they have to block a sink with their chair, suitcase, and attendant accouterments. The staff of the restaurant has a tee shirt and shorts as their uniform and I go to the bathroom and a guy is sitting in the corner in a tux, really weird. This isn't necessarily the restaurants fault but when we went to the valet to get our car we found out they lost our keys. Once they told us they lost our keys they didn't bother looking for them they just went on with the next customer. We sat there for 20 minutes when we decided to just go into their little hut to find the keys for them. turns out they mis-labelled the keys so they had to check our registration to make sure we did indeed own the car... Its so sad to see a restaurant that was so great at one point just get lazy because, "hey people are coming anyway and we have this great view, why even try." there was a rumor floating around that another company was going to buy this establishment and I wish it were true but sadly until something drastic changes, I don't think ill be back.

I hadn’t been to Gladstones in years! But it as certainly a great choice...my husband and I enjoyed the food! The clam chowder is still delicious. The service was spot on! Definitely put Gladstones on your must do dining list!

Great time at Gladstones, had the Alaskan King Crab, and Clam Chowder. The seating location was a little lame, slightly cold outside and not enough heat lamps.
