Server was slow and more concerned with chatting co-workers. Had to find him twice. Restaurant was close to empty.
The food was not good for the price, the fish was overcooked and the vegetables had no flavor. The clamp chowder was pure cream with barely any meat in it. Service was friendly and establishment was clean.
Very loud which made it difficult to have a conversation.
Went on a saturday night at 6:30. The hostess was very pleasant and was seated quickly. Took almost 10 minutes to get cocktails. Ordered dinner which came als.ot as quick as drink order took. Unfortunately the clam chowder I ordered showed up midway through eating my main course. Food was adequate but nothing out of the ordinary. The biggest disappointment was our server. I had expected much more.....the best I can say is it was an average meal you would get for a much lower price elaewhere.
Our waiter was nice but inexperienced. No one introduced him to us as someone who was training.
Also, we had to wait 10 minutes to be seated (even though we had a reservation for 3 people through Open Table) while 3 other parties of 2 were each immediately seated. The restaurant was definitely not crowded by any means. Overall, Gladstone’s needs to improve their customer experience, especially given their premium pricing.
My 70th birthday
The best thing about my dining experience was the Long Beach Lemonade with Cucumber cocktail. My meal was a huge disappointment. The salmon I ordered was overcooked, and the bok choy was severely overcooked to the point of being dull green and very limp instead of a brighter green color and crispy. There was a very loud guest at one table who destroyed the ambiance. The view of the water was nice, and our waiter was pleasant.
$15.00 lunch menu Monday- Friday 11am-2pm
I enjoyed a generous portion of Chilean sea bass with rice pilaf and veggies on the sunny outdoor patio. Delicious! Many other $15.00 choices.
Crabby Friday is the best, crabby hour all day with many crab specials including complete Alaskan King crab dinner $39.00. A pound and a half crab.
Available in bar seating area or outdoor patio bar area.
I had a great experience!
Gladstone's fish offerings are plentiful and very fresh. We sat outside and had great service on a Tuesday night. I'd recommend highly
Had a great time, great service, great food, great view, so worth it
I went with my husband on Valentine’s Day weekend, which you would think most restaurants would be busy. However, Gladstone’s wasn’t very busy although I made reservations for 6:30. We arrived in time and were directed to our seats. The reason I rated it so bad was because we were sat in the emergency exit isle outside where there was no real privacy to talk or dine. The waitress took at least 15 mins to ask if were would like a menu once we received the menu my husband had to flag her down another 15 mins to order drinks. It took her longer than 15 mins to bring us water and we each ordered a cocktail which hadn’t been brought to us yet either. After we sat and read the menu we decided that we were over it because our waitress seemed less than happy to service us, so we left and explained to the hostess to cancel our tables drinks because we were no longer eating there. Needless to say the energy and vibe was off at that location
Great view, great service, great food! Looking forward to dining here again soon.
Nice food , excellent service, pricy but free entre with birthday helps
Need better desert for birthdays, cotton candy does not get it
Love the place otherwise
Fish chowder is my fav
The service was very poor here! I reserved a table a month in advance.. drive from Riverside, CA. I asked for a table with a great view if possible, although I understood it wasn’t a promise! When I got there 30 min before my reservation, a party of two was seated right before myself (2 white males father and son it appeared). They got seated at a beautiful window seat. Me and my date was then seated (both African Americans). We received a table with no view and possibly some of the worst seating in the place. Although there was nothing but open great seats with window view! I had to ask to be reseated to a window and received a window view with plants blocking out of all the seats. I felt so under valued at this location and I would never come back again!!!!
The waitress was terrible very poor service ask for a drinking straw waitress said they had ran out and there are no more available some of the food was okay some of the food on the plate was cold in my opinion the service was terrible compared to other visits ears back just quality has gone downhill I've eaten there many occasions Mother's Day Valentine's Day sometimes on birthdays probably will not be returning there anymore because of the poor quality of service I was given on Valentine's Day 20/20
Yes, with the disclaimer that casual attire is ok, and the inside is a bit dated, and the menu needs an update.
Our food was cold when we received it, the restaurant ran out of cocktail straws.
I arrived 30 minutes late in traffic but the staff was so understanding. The dessert was excellent.
But I asked for an appetizer that arrived at the end of the meal, and the medium-well filet mignon I requested was medium-rare. Gladstones was overwhelmed for Valentine's Day.
Fiancé’s birthday is on Valentine’s Day. Told them while booking a reservation....and requested a table by the window. We were seated at a rocky table not by the window. Told waitress table was rocky and that we wanted to be seated at the table by the window that a couple just left. The waitresses response was “we have things to fix that and once someone cleans the table you can sit there.” No one fixes the table.....20 minutes later without even being addressed we sat ourselves at the new table. Waited another 15 minutes while watching other guests that came after us get served bread/butter and get asked what drinks they would like. I got up and went over to our waitress to remind her that we have been waiting for some time and that it was also my fiancé’s birthday. Her excuse was that someone else was supposed to help us.....it was as if she was trying to not deal with us and we were courteous patient and respectful the WHOLE TIME. She eventually made it back to us....I asked for bread and butter since she didn’t offer any. We told her what drinks we would like and she carded us both. Odd thing was she seen my fiancé’s birthday and didn’t acknowledge it whatsoever at all the whole evening. We ended up ordering food but I was feeling ill after eating the clam chowder but it most likely was a bad mix with what I eaten a couple hours before eating the clam chowder. Not sure though. We got to-go boxes and she boxed everything up, credited our clam chowder, and gave us a small desert of two chocolate strawberries with a fudge heart in the middle of the plate “on her” Chocolate was bitter and unappetizing. The bill came....I paid and I tipped her even though the odds of her receiving a tip from anyone else whom had the same experience as us would’ve been slim to none. Ok food. Ambiance was tired and unromantic but the service being below average just made everything else worth getting away from. No embellishments/ hard feelings....just bad service on a special night.
We had reservations on Valentines Day. We were seated right away with a very nice view. Are waitress was awesome, the food was great. It was my first time at Gladstone's. and I look forward to going back soon
Great food, location and staff. On a nice day, sitting outside can't be beat with the gorgeous view of the ocean, Queen Mary and boats passing by. The food is delicious and the servers are friendly and attentive. Can't wait to go back.
First off, the parking situation is strange. There’s a large parking lot in front that was practically empty, but you can’t park there. You can valet park, which my sister did; but parking was still $8.00 for 2 hours. My map app directed my husband and me to the Aquarium parking garage, which would have been fine but it was raining. With validation parking was $3.00 instead of $8.00. My sons parked on the street at meters, the least expensive option. I’m writing all this because there’s no information about parking in their website, which would have been helpful. The restaurant doesn’t control the parking, but it’s definitely annoying. Nor was there a brunch menu online and as it’s not a typical or extensive menu, I would have liked to have seen it. Only one of us ordered from it.
The wait staff were friendly and helpful, but service and table clearing were slow. No one refilled water glasses. Dirty dishes piled up. To top it off our food was good but not great. Kind of uneven quality. My son had one of the best dishes, the jerk salmon. My husband really liked the Manhattan fish chowder, but his crab cakes were just average.
The best thing about our experience was the view of the harbor and the Queen Mary.
Everything was tasty but it did not represent a good value, we had the 9 oz. Lobster Tail and it was probably 4 oz. of meat for $41.00. Our server Peter M. was excellent.
Returned to this restaurant for Halibut - a reasonably priced item, tasty, portion not large, just average. However, service was "off" tonight, it took 2 hours and 15 mins to serve 2 people dinner and dessert and restaurant wasn't even full....although seated on patio, still loud out there.
Sea Bass was excellent, coconut Shrimp was yummy
Outside view nice ambience
Great food, excellent service and a beautiful view. What a treat!
Location wonderful. Bread was still raw and unbaked. Food was fair. Staff was very friendly.
Went here for lunch. Service was attentive until it came time to pay the bill. I do not understand how the clam chowder was award winning. It was a thick cream that must have been sitting because it had a skin on it. Nothing in it except two clams. I couldn’t finish the bowl of thick, cold cream with no other texture. Also got the fish tacos and was told they were grilled. They were actually deep friend and completely rubbery. The salsa on top was good. Overall very disappointed in the food.
The calamari was overcooked and dry, the school of fishe same thing, overdone
Delish! Will be back
First server we had was okay. Not much to complain about and she was friendly. But she left and we received a second server. Never introduced himself, seemed annoyed whenever we asked for anything, and was very negligent when helping us. We told him how we felt like he wasn’t up to par on our service and he seemed taken back and sped up serving us. We left maybe 10 minutes after telling him how we felt.
We had great food and a wonderful window table overlooking the harbor.
Excellent service, delicious food, a perfect martini and a great view.....what more could you ask for! Thank you!!!
Very accommodating, Peter our waiter was fantastic! Sat by the window as I had requested when I made The reservation. Couldn’t be happier,
Food and service was great!
Vegetables were boiled, no taste. Pasta sauce was runny. Got seated as 4 adults between 2 tables of kids and decided to move as they were not being supervised by parents. Bumping our chairs as they ran around the tables, etc.
Service here is best with Christian or Peter as they know the menu most of all. The fish chowder overcooks the fish which is unsavory however everything else is tasty
