Firm Sweet and Great off the Grill
The food and service was great. I came at the perfect time not too crowded and the weather was just right.
Really good service and food, a little pricey but the view makes it worth it. Best clam chowder
It was a great meal! And OMG that vanilla cake was absolutely delicious!
First time eating at Gladstone’s and I had an awesome experience.
Our daughter is allergic to eggs. There was a big mix up on whether the table bread contains egg. Our waiter said he’d check and never came back, so we asked another server. In the meantime, we saw our waiter who told us there was no egg, but then the second guy came back and said there was egg AFTER we gave it to her based in the first waiter’s report. This is unacceptable, especially when we made it clear we are dealing with a food allergy.
Grat view! Great service! Good food. The only slight inconvenience was that it was about 90 degrees that day and the AC was not enough to keep me from being hot. My companion was fine though.
Our server Adriana was amazing very attentive and honored our request. The food was absolutely delicious
Very underwhelming and disappointing...overpriced for what you get and had to wait over 30 minutes for our main course, my husband's meal was warm, but mine which cost $70 was COLD by the time it reached our table. Only redemption was the polite demeanor of our waiter!
We had an outstanding evening! The food was delicious, and the service was excellent! The folks at the welcome desk were great! They were nice, friendly, efficient, and accommodating! We were seated at a window table with a cool view of the water. Our server, James, was fantastic! He made some recommendations, and we went with most of them. We started with oysters, my companion loves them, and they were really good! We also ordered an appetizer of Coconut Shrimp, which were also delightful! She ordered the lobster which was terrific, and I had the Blackened Mahi-Mahi which was juicy, and spiced perfectly! Both came with a nice portion of vegetables and garlic mashed. I had a Mai-Tai, which was top notch. Flavorful with a kick, but not overpowering. i almost forgot about the warm sourdough bread, which was a nice touch! We only had one slice each, but there still wasn't room for dessert. And I think that $175, which includes tax, and tip for all that is a bargain! We will definitely be going back, but saving room for dessert next time.
Crowded and loud. While we were seated immediately, thanks to a reservation, it took way to long for a server to come to our table. We ordered right away because we knew we better not pass on the opportunity. Are food arrived in a reasonable amount time. While my linguine was overcooked to the point of mushy the seafood plates my friends ordered looked and tasted delicious. Portions were small, prices were high and the food was only okay. I can make better at home. But what was most annoying is we didn’t have any table wear. We asked the server who dropped off the food for napkins and forks but he disappeared and did not return. We then asked the annoying photographer (yes they have a photographer that takes your picture and tries to sell you pics) and then she had to find another sever to get them.
The ambiance was nice and we had a lovely seat with a great view. But the glass was dirty ( clearly a child had been in the booth before us, a messy kid that smeared the window) and no one bothered to clean it.
And don’t get me stated in the valet parking. $31. Crazy.
Do yourself a favor and eat at home.
My friends and I had a great time. The food and service were fantastic. We will be back to try the dinner menu. 😁🙌
The server never took down the folded down sun umbrella on our table although we requested several times during our late evening dinner in the patio area. It was hard to see everyone across the table. Dinner was average, small portion for dinner prices.
Picked this restaurant because it was close to the Terrace Theater. I was expecting the cachet of the Malibu location, but it felt more like an upscale chain restaurant, maybe a step up from Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. Our server was super nice and attentive, but the food was decidedly underwhelming. We got the surf and turf and the lobster was overcooked (we struggled to get it out of the shell) and the steak was way undercooked (I ordered it medium) and full of gristle. At least the mashed potatoes were edible.
It was the firs time my spouse, friend and I had eaten dinner out since the pandemic. What a wonderful experience! The night was gorgeous, the food was delicious and the company was outstanding! What more can one ask?
Poor service, out of lobsters, limited alcohol selection
Outdoor dining has nice views.
Had reservations for 2 at 4 o'clock on a Wednesday. Felt like we were the only ones in the restaurant. Outstanding, attentive waiter. Had the swordfish which was exquisite, melt in your mouth moist and delicious. The halibut was divine. Enjoyed the view out of the window, especially when a hawk landed on a nearby tree branch. This is the place we go for "special" occasions. Well worth the price.
Cocktails were poorly made. Had to return the martini to have it remade. Fish and chips...fish batter was soggy, not crisp. Service was extremely slow. On positive side, kid's salmon was excellent.
Was looking to sit outside but was told a party had that area. No party showed up and went outside. Nice table inside, food was very good. Service was good as well
It felt as if the restaurant had not been cleaned in quite awhile. Made my wonder about the sanitation conditions of the kitchen.
Birthday dinner with my wife. We sat in the patio area, however the umbrella did not provide sufficient shade and soon became uncomfortable to really enjoy the ocean from dining opportunity. The server kept bringing us water but no one ever offered to tilt the umbrella or bring a second umbrella to block the sun from our table. The appetizer and meals were tasty but eventually we decided to pack up our meal to go.
Great view, good service, delicious food! We eat here for all special occasions.
Food was good mashed potatoes great. Service was ok
Service was extremely slow. Got checked on only once, without lifting our hand for service
Gladstones is a great restaurant I have loved for years. Unfortunately, we had a very poor waiter yesterday evening (Sunday August 8, 2021 at 5:30pm). Wish I could remember his name!
I am not one of those high maintenance folks who feels the world owes them the moon & stars. I empathize with and enjoy being courteous to wait staff, so keep that in mind as you read this.
When I asked about the batter used on the fish & chips, he looked me in the eye and said it didn't come with batter, it was pan seared, which is not the case. A waiter who doesn't know a popular menu item? The batter used is light and tastes delicious. After it arrived he neither acknowledged nor apologized for the misinformation.
He forgot to bring the water with lemon slices we requested. When we reminded him after the entrees arrived, he forgot to include lemon slices.
He gave the distinct impression we were imposing on him, and seemed preoccupied with chatting with a group of diners at an adjacent table.
DOG LOVERS TAKE NOTE: Although Gladstones clearly allows dogs on the patio, he kept taking issue with my small gentle poodle mix Beary (I caught the negative look he gave him). He kept making a point of stepping over my dog (who was lying down between the table and the wall, which naturally made my dog get up every single time and I would have to resettle him), instead of just serving us from the opposite side of the table which had no obstructions and was closest to the restaurant.
Gladstones, please make sure servers covering the patio do not dislike dogs!
Even so, the patio ambience and water view are lovely and we will return. However, I will have no qualms about requesting another waiter if we get him again. I actually left a small tip (10% of $120.00), but shouldn't have left him anything but the truth. And here it is.
Once we decided to focus on celebrating my retirement and just ignoring his issues, we had a great time anyway!
The food was good ,The service was terrible. The waiter and waitress were both terrible
Very family friendly and our waitress was so sweet to my wild child son! She had the kids orders going with my drink so they would have time to cool as mine was cooking. 10/10 recommend and will definitely be back again!
Food quality was below what was expected for the money. Nice place aesthetically with good views.
Reminded me of an Applebee’s in that the quality was subpar
Server was great, food and drinks were delicious! Had a great time and we’ll b back again :-)
Staff was friendly
July 5 visit; 5:30 reservation to ensure we could sit outside (patio is wonderful!). Service was very slow but friendly, bread offered promptly. Drink refills or reorders were never offered (perhaps understaffed due to holiday). Mahi Mahi was flavorful, dad’s swordfish was dry and didn’t come with vegetables. Husband and brother enjoyed fish tacos and lobster Mac/cheese respectively. Best part of the meal was the view.
We were disappointed with the fried shrimp. Too much batter. No special seafood. I am sure with time it will get better!
They are almost back to normal. Food was awesome !! Service was slow, probably due to not enough staff. Waiters were very busy. Alot better than a few months ago. We had chocolate cake for dessert it was the worst I had every tried.
I reserved it under birthday occasion to celebrate my birthday there. Upon arriving earlier than my reservation, they were able to sit us outside on the side of the restaurant with less water view than I preferred. But since we arrived much earlier, anywhere is fine for us. The waiter was quick to take our order. Our appetizer seafood ceviche is amazing, Hawaiian Ahi Tuna is below average, and parmesan crust tilapia is great! I wouldn’t order the Ahi Tuna again, since the quality of the tuna isn’t supposed to be sashimi grade as it stated on the menu. It doesn’t melt in your mount as I have tasted others. The waiter didn’t acknowledge my birthday nor offer us a dessert. He didn’t even ask us to validate our parking as the other waiters have asked other tables next to us. Overall, the view is great with 3.5 stars quality of foods.
Outdoor dining maintenance should be no less a priority than indoor, especially considering the time we are living in. Our initial impression of this location was informed by the over 5 min delay at the door, waiting for someone to greet and seat us. Finally, we were escorted to a filthy table with soiled seat pads and trash and food on the ground. I have no idea why we stayed, but with the staff seeming bothered being asked to clean up the table and sweep/remove the trash, it just went downhill from there. Half of our orders were overcooked and others undercooked.
There are too many other options on The Pike and I see why that restaurant may have been so empty while others had waiting lines. First and last time at this location.
The food was cooked to perfection; everything fresh. The service was great. A beautiful setting.
Great experience, excellent server
Went here for my friends birthday! They never disappoint!
Bread is warm and fluffy. Food is ok, not baf
