This was our first experience with Gladstone's, the noise level was rather high and my expectations were for a quieter venue and not a sports bar atmosphere. Our waiter was excellent, very friendly, he knew the portions and was very help[ful. The food was very good, and presentation was good. Prices are on the high side but, understandable for the area. You get a discount on the valet parking with a validated ticket.
I made a reservation for 4 and we were seated very promptly. It was a rainy day so not very crowded anyway.
We planned on having dinner, but after very slow service and an overcooked fried calamari appetizer, we decided against it since we had somewhere to be later in the evening.
We ordered a few mixed drinks and I was surprised to get a pixie stick like cardboard straw which proceeded to fall apart well before I was done with my drink. On my second drink, the waitress actually tried to get me to use the same straw, it never would have made it. Being a native southern Californian I'm as environmentally aware as the next guy, but whomever the genius was that thought adding cardboard to my diet via a straw, did not think this one through.
We ordered more appetizers trying to keep the engagement brief, but those also took forever to come out. I assume it was because they were under the impression I liked my coconut shrimp slightly burnt and dry.
Overall, slow service, overcooked, low quality appetizers at a premium price. The lone bright spot was the sourdough bread they brought to the table was warm and delicious.
Love sitting outside and view is lovely love the coconut shrimp appetizer and lovely sea bass
Spicy tuna roll and jambalaya lacking flavor. Jambalaya was not authentic.
Service was great @ least.
We had a wonderful dinner at Gladstone's. Drinks were yummy and the ambiance was perfect for a night out with the hubby. We'll definitely be back :)
Sadly, we didn't have a good dinner w the family. Our food arrived 1 hour after ordering... we were actually about to leave before the food arrived.
The waitress was unfamiliar w the menu and kept bringing the incorrect beer to my fiancée.
We voiced our concern w the General Manager and told her we normally have a good experience...
I went for Dine Out Long Beach. The food was fine, but nothing that made me eager to go back.
Stubbled upon Crabby Friday special of Alaskan King Crab, 1-1/2# for $34.95.....What a deal and the food was excellent. The servers (regular server plus one in training) were spot on, friendly, funny and just made you feel welcome! Will definitely recommend and will definitely go back!!
Maybe because we asked for and used the dine lb menu but food took forever to come out , main course salmon was way over cooked and just generally felt ignored. He was quick with the beers but the food was lacking. Pretty much no different other than the cost than the chili's next door.
Excellent lobster dinner with great service from Peter. Lovely water views.
We requested a quiet table, but the entire restaurant was noisy! We finally moved ourselves to the bar which was much quieter and we had great service there.
Food was lacking. How does a renowned seafood restaurant overcook ALL of the fish? Our server was very friendly and made a mediocre meal worth the hefty price tag. We went for Dine Out Long Beach, but were simply reminded that there is SOOOO much great food out there for equal or lower prices and I am constantly baffled at the power of a tourist trap.
The dining room has a cafeteria feel with mediocre food in a TGIF style setting.
This could get 5 stars as an overall if it weren't for the horrible parking problem. I will NEVER go back there on a Saturday night.
For the price, the service and food was below average. Especially the food. Shrimp skewer was not only cold but way over cooked.
We went before a show at the convention center across the street. This place was ok. Nothing special, not cheap not expensive. Food was fair. The saving grace was the service. Peter was fantastic. Will definitely come back and dine if I am in the area and he is there.
Overpriced but location is good with ocean view
On Sunday service was laid back and food took longer then expected and food was good
Was there for lunch on Sunday to celebrate a birthday. They did not look for our reservation just seated us right away with a requested view. It then took over 10 minutes and waving down a server to get our drink order. Not a good start.
We ordered and the food was delivered in normal time. It was good. No one asked if we wanted another drink. Nothing special offered for the birthday person.
We had a fabulous Valentines experience and were so glad we chose Gladstone’s. We sat in the patio (they had heaters), the server was delightful, the managers complimented our food choice.
It was valentienes day so I had high expectations for the venue. And the entire night you did not disappoint. My first time being there and my girlfriend as well we both enjoyed the night. 5 stars if I had one complaint though; the straws were horrible. It was like paper breaking down each time I took a sip of my drink.
Great service and food, it was busy on valentines but servers apologized and very nice! Would come here again!
Enjoyed a nice casual Valentine's day. Walked right in to our table service was great. Got a complimentary dessert. Had a nice night.
By far the worst dining experience ever. Horrible service! If it weren't for Christian ( he noticed that our server hadn't even brought us a glass of water for over 20 minutes and helped us). The MGR ( Red top wanta be blond with glasses) is a disaster of a Mgr. Food looked like crap! I would never send out a plate like they gave to my wife at a backyard BBQ. This WAS my wifes favorite restaurant! And this on Valentines Day. Thank You for making my wifes evening a horrible one!!!!!! You will not see us or anyone else that I know again. I am 3rd gen LB and know many people. I wasn't going to write a review, but you guy's emailed me for my opinion!!!!
Took my honey here for Valentine’s Day and he loved it. The atmosphere was amazing and the food was delicious. Service was a little slow, I’m sure it was because it was Valentine’s Day. I would also recommend that you sit inside during the winter because even with the heat lamps it gets a little chilly at night outside. Overall the experience was great.
Beautiful experience. My husband and I went for Valentine's Day. The service and good was great. Make reservation on open table. We walked right in.
I was visiting Long Beach and seeing the location and menu, made a reservation before my flight took off. After a 4.5 hour flight and one hour drive, I was looking forward to a good meal. The place looked good from outside and inside but the overall experience was terrible. I reached at 8 pm when they were not too busy. Yet, the server was very very slow and inattentive. She showed up once every 15 minutes to take my order, get my drink, get my food and then the check. No pleasentries, no asking about food quality and in general lack of attention. On top of that, the wood grilled halibut was very bland and tasteless. Presentation was no great shakes either. Especially for the price, I expected a lot more from the dining experience and walked out very disappointed. I travel frequently for business and this was definitely in the bottom 10% of my list.
A bit pricey for this casual atmosphere, but good service and delicious fish!
Service was very good! really very excellent. Very fast and accurate.
Sushi appetizers were creative and tasty.
Our server was knowledgeable, attentive and helpful.
Fish and other seafood items were well prepared and reflected well on a well earned reputation.
My halibut was perfectly done without being too dry or undercooked.
Our guests enjoyed their entrees.
Having been here many times over the years, it can honestly be said that there have been no under-performing items on the menu. The executive chef has consistently refreshed the menu offerings and has added new twists to the staple items.
Alas, trout lovers will be disappointed as this restaurant has never served trout.
I had a serious problem with the Lobster and Crap Augratin. I did not expect Gladstones to serve Velveta...if it was not it was definitely some other "cheese product". It should be taken off of the menu. A restaurant such as Gladstones should not use fake cheese in their kitchen.
I saw the other food coming out of the kitchen and desperately wish I would have ordered something else.
Very nice outdoor patio seating with view of the Queen Mary. Lovely for a relaxing afternoon lunch in a nice environment, food is consistently good for a Gladstone's chain. Good area for strolling, people watching, shopping, and visiting the Aquarium of the Pacific.
Food and service was great, they just forgot the most important part of the night and that was to wish my date a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
l was disappointed about that part of my dining experience.
May they will get right next time.
He had the sword fish and said it was the best he had ever eaten.
Great food. Great service.
Nine ounce lobster tail was great. Service was good. Would mark service great if they had brought me utensils and a napkin.
Didn't know this restaurant had a Long Beach location! So glad we found it!! Our waiter, Peter, was the absolute best!! I highly recommend this place! We'll definitely be back!!
Our server was the best and they even got is in earlier than our reservation time.
Delicious food and great service!
Valet parking is a plus!
