Giumarello's Restaurant and G Bar Ratings and Reviews
Booked three times in last two months through Open Table. Each time we were seated at "Table 34" - an awful table. In the middle of the entry to the dinning room with constant traffic on either side of the table. This last time we had to ask for a manager to ask why two other tables of four were seated after us, but got their drinks and bread before a waitress came to our table. About 20 minutes from being seated to taking cocktail orders. So if you book through Open Table make sure they don't seat you at their "crappy" table. Food was great!
The food was low quality & overpriced. The dining decor is only rivaled by Golden Corral. At one point they dimmed the lights so much we could hardly see our food, thank heaven for the annoying life-like electric candle that flickered robotically or we wouldn't have been able to see at all.
I always met my friend from my past job at Giumarello's for dinner and always enjoyed our dinner. The good was always good and the service staff is outstanding. Late last week, I had a molar removed and had been having many other dental issues where I was to the point of not being able to chew a lot of food. Instead of cancelling the dinner, I decided to go anyway and would just make do. However, when I asked the waitress to substitute mashed potatoes for the veggies on my early bird special, she told us that she wished she could but was not allowed. We asked for the Manager and explained the situation and he too said no substitutions. We will not return again. I understand that the prix fixe selections are cheaper but other entrees came with mashed potatoes and it's not like potatoes are any more expensive than veggies. I was very disappointed. I asked for pasta cooked very soft but the pasta was not soft. It took 45 minutes for our dinner to arrive so I was not going to have to wait another 45 for another dish of pasta. Sorry Giumarello's, you get an "F" for compassion and you've lost my business and that of my friend.
We ate on the patio on a beautiful summer night and it was perfect! We were there in time for their Happy Hour appetizers which were delicious and a great deal. I had the saffron mussels and they were yummy! My friends got the crab cake sliders which they liked too. I also got the arugula and endive salad with blackened shrimp which was just what I wanted on a warm night. The wait staff was very attentive and we never felt rushed.
The whole meal I had was amazing I started with the oyster sampler (HIGHLY RECOMMEND) then had the Thai chili mussels , it's on the spicy side but loved it . Then for dessert had the crème brûlée classic dessert at any restaurant. I recommend this place because the FOOD is to die for . . Will deff be returning !
Cramped table for 4 with all the menus. Seating VERY UNCOMFORTABLE> Food was only fair. Prices very high. Just not that flavorful and seafood overcooked. Service was uninterested and uneven. Special on menu was unavailable the day before and still not replaced for the next day. Poor planning.
My husband and I dined here for our wedding anniversary as it came highly recommended. It was a weeknight so it wasn't jam packed, getting a reservation was easy and we were seated right away. I initially thought it was louder in the dining room than I expected. When the piano started playing, I was more satisfied with the ambience. The wait staff was helpful and friendly. I started with a raspberry fizz off the martini menu and it was perfectly fruity and delicious. They brought us out a bread basket which included regular bread and butter along with pizza bread. This also came with a serving of marinated peppers which was a nice touch. We ordered the meatball appetizer which was a special. It was delicious- one meatball large enough for the two of us with ricotta cheese on the side. The meals came with a house salad which was very good for the standard house salad. I can only imagine how the menu salads must taste. I ordered an entree special of crab ravioli in blush sauce. Again, very delicious with lumps of crab. My husband ordered the gnocchi bolognese. I tried a piece and the gnocchi was perfectly fluffy. For dessert we ate the coconut cheesecake and was not disappointed. My only complaint was that our entrees took quite some time to come out. On a weekend this would have bothered us less, but the restaurant was not full. Otherwise I thought the food was delicious and as a whole the restaurant was a good choice for our anniversary.
Food was amazing as always but our server was not. She was extremely unattentive. She forgot to take our order, put in the wrong order and took too long to bring our drinks. As a former server, I understand when a server is in the weeds, which she was not. She was just bad and at the prices they charge, she has no business representing their brand.
We had our rehearsal dinner there on April 1, 2016 so we wanted to come back for our 1 year wedding anniversary April 2nd this year. It never disappoints! The owner is wonderful and got us our first round of drinks! Our waitress was very attentive and friendly and it was a perfect romantic dinner, it was in the same booth we sat at the first time we ever went there! Perfect night!
