Giulio & Sons Ratings and Reviews
Service was so poor. Waiter didn't seem to know what he was doing. When asked about my drink he said he had to rummage through to see what they had to use. He had to smell the vodka to make sure it was ok
A guy was wandering around and asked if he could take our menus before we ordered
We waited for over an hour for the food. When we asked about it he said he was waiting for us to use the salad bar
which we had no interest in.
The food was terrible
The worst restaurant experience ever. Not sure how they make it. We were there on a Friday night and very few people were there. Not sure how they got 4.7 on OT rating. Very deceiving.
This is my first ever bad review and all 4 of us agree with everything
Went in for lunch, almost turned around because it was too quiet.
There were a few other diners eating at the time. The staff were super kind and attentive. Food was very good.
The hotel and restaurant need some marketing to get customers in there!
Sounds like they have an awesome Sunday brunch. We will have to try that soon!
The staff was very attentive and shared great stories of the history of this landmark restaurant. The night we were there was unlimited pasta bar night, and it was delicious! Also had local Michigan wine (Good Harbor) that spurred us to buy some before leaving the state!
We have 2-4 lunch business meetings here each year, for about 10-12 people. We really wish they would stop pouring water at each place setting before we arrive--not everyone wants it and this is environmentally shameful. Several of us ordered soup which we thought they forget about--it was eventually served AFTER our entrees! (Mine was so greasy looking that I didn't even taste it.) Entree sandwiches are just ok; appetizers are better but VERY small portions for the price. Coffee and iced tea are way too strong--to tolerate either, needed to add water or a lot of cream. Battled fruit flies during our meal. Servers are nice but there are often long periods where we wonder where they are...
Excellent service, super tasty food, nostalgic atmosphere with contemporary live music are the ingredients for a great evening. The pampering is outstanding. The salad bar, the desert bar and the pasta station are great. We highly recommend this restaurant.
The food was excellent! Great quality and prepared beautifully! It's kind of sad that the area has gone a little downhill, though. The restaurant is classy with high quality food but the customers came in jeans and t-shirts. It kind of ruins the ambiance...
I am constantly impressed by this fine restaurant. The food is tasty and hot, the service is super, the atmosphere is superb, the pampering is great. The revamped salad bar / sea food bar is outstanding. The pasta station is very complete and the desert bar is "delicious". The Friday night music is adding to the great mood. I highly recommend this spot for any occasion.
Our nonprofit group has been here several times (4, I think) for lunch business meetings.
GOOD: Waitresses are very nice. Received complimentary garlic bread & spread--delicious.
BAD: I certainly don't appreciate a call waking me and my husband at 7:59AM to confirm the reservation!! Music in hall outside our private room was so loud we had to close the door and it then became quite cold in the room. Appetizer portions are tiny. Soup (waitress raved about it) was just ok. Wish they didn't include a pickle slice on a sandwich plate without mentioning it on the menu or asking if you want it--can't stand pickle juice getting on my nice dry bread! Wouldn't get the carrot cake again. Decaf coffee was awful--so strong (even cut 50/50 with milk) that I couldn't drink it--even added sugar, which I don't normally use, and that didn't help. REALLY wish they would stop putting out water at each place setting before our group arrives! Many of us don't want it and it's super wasteful of our precious natural resources. We have requested that they arrange the tables in a square not a rectangle as the people on ends can't hear those at the opposite end. They assured me they could do it but it has ever been right yet! I've tried contacting them via email address (from former contact and their website) and the addresses don't work and I can't ever reach anyone on the phone. 13 people for lunch (no alcohol) and total bill was $443.
They are trying to revive this restaurant. Not very busy, only two tables full on a Tuesday after the holidays for lunch. Nice and quiet. The food was excellent, and the wait staff was attentive.
The buffet bar was not available that day. When it is, that is a terrific choice of salads, soups, pastas and others. Dessert bar great too. I think they are only running that on Sunday brunch right now. Call ahead to check during the week if that is your plan.
