Giulia puts a particular emphasis on hand-crafted pastas, made each day on our custom-built chef's table adjacent to the open kitchen. Reserve the Pasta Table for a special event for up to 12 people!
Best of Boston Italian Restaurant. All Italian wine list with unique Italian varietals. Local purveyors, dry aged local beef, burrata di puglia, stone milled flours, vegetarian options. Chef’s tasting menu. House baked bread, gelato and dolci.
Flavors seemed mashed together. Very good cocktail. I would like to go back and order differently.
Such a great meal, you will not be disappointed!!
Overall very good. Birthday meal. My slight criticism is that my meal as a bit on the salty side.. everything is so fresh and simple - not really necessary to overpower a dish.
Solid, NY-esque Italian restaurant on Cambridge/Somerville line.
This is our favorite restaurant. It never fails to be vibrant and innovative without leaving the tradition of great Italian food made with great ingredients. Service matches the kitchen in excellence. Brava Guilia
Took our granddaughter for a special dinner
We’ve been going to Guilia’s for years and have enjoyed, Service continues to be absolutely outstanding! However, the food was variable this time. While some of the dishes we ordered were fabulous (chicken liver crostini and all the pastas) some were very disappointing (lamb sausage and bass entrees). We’re hoping it’s just a little glitch.
The whole menu, cocktail program, plus wine and beer list are outstanding.
The food tends to be slightly too fussy-- a good chef accommodating a clientele that prizes invention over excellence. The relatively private spaces and relative quiet and excellent service make this worth returning to.
Hands down, my favorite restaurant - exceptional every time!
Giulia was the best restaurant experience my husband and I have ever had. The atmosphere, the service, the wine selection and the food...amazing! The waitress was incredibly knowledgeable and kind. The food was so fresh. Each bite and flavor combination was just perfect. I would go back here again in a heartbeat.
Excellent food preparation and wine selection. Unrushed.
Another wonderful night at Giulia. Food and drinks were excellent and the value is great. One the best restaurants in the Boston area.
The hostess was extremely disrespectful. I couldn’t believe such a thing would happen at a place I like so much like Guilia. The hostess went out of her way to embarrass me. food was great, but we felt very uncomfortable eating
I loved the ambiance inside Giulia-so romantic! The small bite to start was very small but used interesting and unique ingredients. The semolina cakes are not something I have seen on other Italian menus. The homemade pasta was very good but portions were small and we finished without leftovers to take home, as is usually a perk of dining Italian. However, the smaller portions do prevent overeating! The dessert was by far the best part! The chocolate terrine with fresh berries and tart berry sauce was to die for!
The best Italian restaurant in the Cambridge/Boston area.
We had a wonderful experience at Giulia. The dishes were imaginative and the ingredients well sourced. The food was truly many levels above any other Italian food I’ve had in Boston and I live in the North End where it is bountiful. Our night was capped off by a table side chat with the chef. I couldn’t recommend Giulia more.
They served the best beef tartare I have ever had, and I've had it a lot! Despite the tastiness of the main dishes, the pasta still remains the best in the city. The salad was terrific, as well. There is also a wonderful selection of wine.
Outstanding quality food, lovely and cozy ambience, superior quality service. They did a good job to accommodate a vegan meal even though there aren't many options on the menu. It's the type of place I would take someone to impress them :)
The wait is to long. Keep dishes simple - freshly made pastas, but simple.
We absolutely loved Giulia! The food, the service, the ambiance! Everything was fantastic. This is likely going to become our new favorite neighborhood spot. ;)
Every star is deserved! The food, service and surroundings were great. It's clearly a much-loved place for regulars (which we are not since we live in Dorchester almost to Milton). But what was truly great about this meal was how welcoming they were even though we missed our reservation time by quite a bit.
I was meeting my wife on Friday night. She was coming on the Red Line and had left what we thought was more than enough time (1 1/2 hours), even with the delays that are now part of traveling on that train. It was not enough, as it turned out, and she was 20 minutes late. No matter -- they cheerfully seated me before she got there, gave me a glass of wine and came back when she arrived to go through the menu with us. They didn't rush us at all, just the opposite, they made us feel completely at home. It's a great place!
Perfection as usual. The chocolate dessert was mind blowing.
Great service, great wine and enjoyed all the food particularly the pasta dishes.
Our waitress provided an excellent wine recommendation and responded warmly to our questions. The pasta is sublime—varied and creative, with subtle use of local fresh vegetables. Giulia’s has provided exceptional fare from the outset and seems only to get better over time.
Basically food is overrated and overpriced. Tried the bucatini and the wild boar dishes. Both were ok but nothing to rave about. Bucatini was also too salty. Glass of wine also overpriced. Pasta not as good as in Italy.
Excellent per usual
This is a hidden gem! What a great night. The owner stopped by and chatted with us for a while. It felt like we were on vacation for a few hours.
Good food, but very poor service. We asked for a few more minutes to look at the menu and the waitress came back after 20 minutes, only after we hailed her down, and she was a little rude and inattentive for the rest of our night. The rest of the restaurant staff (those who filled our water, etc.) were attentive and friendly.
This restaurant never fails to please. Very knowledgable waitress and food is excellent
The food was outstanding. We waited a long time to schedule this reservation and the food was worth the wait
I love Giulia. It’s an amazing place. It’s like going on a vacation for the evening. Great food. Spectacular wait staff. Not at all pretentious yet it it is a sublime experience
I heard great things about Giulia - I suspect if you go for the pasta, you will be in good shape, but I ordered the steak which was tough and the greens were overly dressed and salty. the service was also very slow.
Another great dinner at Giulia. Food was creative and delicious. Wines were paired well. Desserts were excellent. Highly recommend! Reserve early.
One tip about getting a reservation, keep checking Open Table every morning. It took me a while, but it’s worth it. We had a great meal, everything was fresh, perfectly cooked, locally sourced. The menu changes, but whatever they serve, you’ll like, I’m a picky person so you can trust me!
This is our second time visiting Giulia and we are big fans! We went for a birthday dinner , we were able to sit at the bar which is our preference so that we can share several plates. Everything we ate was delicious from the homemade pasta to the fresh striped bass. The yellowtail crudo is one of our absolute favorite crudos we’ve had! The bartenders were fantastic, they had recommendations on wine and were very knowledgeable about the items on the menu. They were friendly and made the evening that much more special. We will definitely be returning.
This is my wife and my favorite date night spot. It’s calm, fun, and the food is insanely delicious. The homemade pasta is delectable and the recipes are unique, memorable, and always changing. If you like having meals that you remember years later, while you spend only nominally more than what you’d spend at a boring restaurant, go to Giulia. This is a restaurant where you can tell that the chefs are having fun. Your tastebuds will beg you to make another reservation.
This was our first visit to Giulia. It was superb from the moment we walked through the door. The menu selections were unusual, creative, beautifully presented and served, and utterly delicious. The setting was subtle upscale Cambridge, yet unpretentious and welcoming. This restaurant justifies all the buzz about it. Of course we’ll return.
