Food is always amazing...potato focaccia with lardo and bucatini all'amatriciana are favorites. We are usually too full for dessert but my husband had pistachio gelato this time that was delicious. However, our real love for Giulia is because of the consistently excellent service. I have a complicated food allergy and eating out can be unpleasant and even scary. However, every time we visit Giulia, the servers, managers, and chef, are super-kind and attentive to ensuring that we have a great time and a safe meal.

We were seated near front door, which has a great view, but is freezing in winter. Our waiter was initially kind of rude and unfriendly. He warmed up but it was not a great start to the evening. Took him a while even to offer us drinks, after telling us we needed to order everything all at once. Food is good but I would not recommend for someone who needs to eat gluten free. Surprisingly no GF pasta and limited other GF options. I loved the food (I was not the GF eater), but I am not sure I would hurry back.

We all had pasta, an appetizer and dessert. Everything we ordered (with an assist from our server) was excellent. I also loved the wine she recommended: aSoave from the Veneto. We loved the combination of exquisite food, attentive service but with a fairly laidback vibe. We did go on a Wednesday night, since the next several weekends were fully booked. Look forward to a return.

The service was good, overall. The staff were pleasant and polite. Our order consisted of the scallops as the appetizer, and the squid ink linguine and cheese and potato ravioli as our entrees. The scallops were well-cooked, and we enjoyed them. However, the raviolis were average at best, and the flavors in the linguine did not sit well with us. If in the low likelihood that we would return here, we would definitely try something else.

Holiday outing with family. My son and daughter in law loved the salmon and cocktails. As usual, service was perfect, thoughtful and on point. My chicken liver crostini and tajarin with truffles were a poem. The ‘children’ also loved their inventive dessert, and I tried not to eat my cookies while enjoying a little vin santo. Very lovely, which is why I keep taking my NYC friends to Giulia. They drop their New York City restaurant biases rather quickly. Instantly! Ha, take that, Via Carota!

Start with the burn on drink warmed with fog and walnut vermouth. Polenta and mushroom sfizi was perfectly prepared. Bucatini excellent. If you’re there during truffle season—break the bank. It’s worth it. Portions are human size. We love that. Service staff subtle but ever aware. Also, personable and fun. Great meal

We went for our daughter's 22 birthday. The food was divine and everyone loved what they ordered. Service was attentive, but not over-bearing. The wines were pricey (a glass of Barolo was $24), but otherwise everything was perfect. Wish it were easier to make reservations ahead of time, but understand why it is so popular.

There was a lot of build-up to this dinner, but unfortunately, the night of was a let-down. Giulia had been discussed in hushed tones in our friend group. “The wild boar was incredible.” “Every dish was a revelation.” “It was *the* place to go.” The difficulty in getting a reservation seemed to confirm the hype. I woke up early two weeks before my girlfriend’s birthday to book a table, and the only available time was 9:30pm. It had sold out that quickly. Luckily, using Open Table’s alert feature, I was able to move the time up to 7:30pm the day before. Giulia didn’t seem to get the message. The night of, we arrived a bit early, nervous and dressed in our best. We checked in with the front desk and were then shown our table, by the door. It was a cold night, and the draft was noticeable but that was okay; this was Giulia! We were just excited for the chance to be there. Our waiter swooped over in short order and was very attentive as he walked us through the menu. We ordered drinks, two appetizers, two pastas, and an entree. The waiter complimented us on our choices and relayed the information to the kitchen. The appetizers came out quickly, we ate, and our plates were replaced with fresh ones for the pasta. “It will be right out,” he said. It would not. We waited an hour-and-a-half to get our pasta. Our once attentive waiter had suddenly disappeared. Tables who had arrived at the restaurant after us received their food before us, and we had no one to check in with in the meantime. We sat there growing more incredulous and sullen until the draft from the constantly opening door had blown away all of the warm feelings we had kindled leading up to that night. When the pasta finally did come, the waiter apologized for the delay and refilled my wine for free. This was a nice gesture, but it did not make up for the wait nor the food. Perhaps no dish could have succeeded with that kind of an introduction, but I felt like I could make better pasta at home. Two stars.

Food is excellent. Giulia's homemade pasta is exquisite: we had a pasta made from emmer wheat with mushrooms, which we despaired of replicating. The octopus starter was also lovely, and the rather sparse list of secondi was, happily, supplemented by a beef shoulder with polenta that made for a perfect winter meat course. The wine selection remains good: Giulia still serves nebbiolo by the glass, which seems to have become a rarity. The glaring lack, at least in the second week of December, is in 'dolci': Giulia clearly do not have a proper pastry chef, since every characterless item (including 'carrot cake', undreamt of in classic Italian cuisine) seemed to rely upon gelato for a spurious air of festivity. Perhaps Giulia might offer a cheese course until a pastry chef becomes available. We were more than happily sated without 'afters', but one imagines that others might feel the lack in a menu that in every other way delights.

My sister did not like her squid ink linguine. The server asked if she wanted to take it home. She declined and told him it was not good. He said he’d let the kitchen know. Her meal remained on the bill. I liked my pasta dish, fettuccine with spinach and mushrooms, the arugula salad and wine. The semolina cake appetizer was nothing special. I’d try it again but not order the items we did not like.
