We came here for a date and ordered off the regular menu. Our favorites dishes were the chicken liver crostini and creamy white corn polenta antipasti. Our server Jessica S was so friendly and helpful. She really added positively to our experience. Would definitely come back.
Always consistent quality, creative takes on standards, best manhattans 😀
Food was terrific and our server was perfect!
The restaurant was dirty (stale bread and receipts on the floot) and the service was slow.
Not a first time! superb pasta. Attentive staff. Deeply satisfying dining experience
It was hard to find a reservation here so I was ready to think it was over-hyped, but we had a great meal. The tasting menu was a great value and each course was interesting and well-executed. I was especially impressed at how unpretentious yet incredibly helpful the staff were. They went out of their way to make dining there feel personal and were very accommodating to any dietary requests.
Giulia's was a great experience! The food was so good, even the vegan options were delicious. Our waitress was very attentive and helped make the restaurant experience excellent. I recommend this restaurant for anyone who wants fresh Italian food!
What a wonderful restaurant! Delicious food, and everyone cares about the food! Helpful staff to help you choose. Flavors to remember!
Very very good pasta dishes
We had never been to Giulia's and we received a gift certificate for Christmas so we finally went.
It was delicious and the place has a very nice ambience. For, me, having a daughter and friend who are gluten free and a husband who is type 2 diabetic, we felt that many items were served with or on crostini. I'd like to see them expand their menu to include more offerings in the appetizers (all of which were delicious) and main courses that people can choose if they are looking for delicious fare that is low on carbs. Still the ambience, service and food was excellent. I recommend Giulia's!
I could not compliment this place more! The only possible complaint is that it is so popular so their phone line is always busy, but the experience was wonderful! I went with 4 other friends and every item we had was wonderful. Everyone said that Giulia is now a new favorite restaurant at the end of the night. Don’t miss the desserts! They are totally worth the cost (and I usually don’t think $8-$10 desserts are worth it). They threw in an extra dessert for our party and it may have been the best one!
Overhyped and overpriced. The food was elaborate but poorly executed (one dish was very salty, another was extremely sour, etc). The only good part was the dessert, though I'm not a dessert person.
Went a few years ago and loved it then. Have had a hard time getting back there because it's tough to get a reservation but I think this place is worth it. Took a friend (who is vegetarian) for her birthday and at first glance the menu didn't offer that many vegetarian dishes. But when we asked the waitperson, many items could be prepared without meat so my friend was more than satisfied with the choice. We each had a nice glass of wine and shared a bean puree appetizer that was beautifully prepared and luscious, served with grilled homemade bread. We each had a pasta dish, I the pappardelle and she the agnolotti and they both were excellent. Topped this off with the chocolate terrine - again a shared dessert, and just terrific. Will hunt for reservations and get them when I can.
Fantastic food and service.
The four of us ordered the 5-course tasting menu to celebrate a birthday. We had a fantastic evening, and our dinner was absolutely fabulous! Thank you, Giulia!
Pretty overrated. Food was B/B+, service friendly but unsophisticated and somewhat juvenile. Average value for the price, if you are looking to explore Boston fine dining try others first.
Did not appreciate a pre fix menu without options to choose from the main menu. Wish we had known ahead of time. Very expensive ! I love this place but will not be going on special occasions again if forced to order from a fixed high priced menu.
Very good food.
The flounder really should have been deboned. The fish was very large and dealing with the bones was awkward and made a mess of the dish such that the presentation was compromised.
The board head was excellent.
Cumulatively, the dishes were all very rich, and I wish the waitress had steered us to some lighter fare
Good italian food, but I don't understand the hype. It's good but not better than many other Cambridge restaurants. Yet, I had to reserve about 30 days in advance to be sure we got a seat. crazy.
Giulia is hands down my favorite restaurant!!!! Every time we are lucky enough to get a reservation We always have a memorable experience!!!!
This restaurant was at 90% capacity on a Monday night, a sign of a loyal clientele.
Honestly, I’ve heard so much about this place, and given how hard it is to get a reservation, I assumed this would be one of the best places in Boston. While the service and ambiance was great, the food is not good. Not worth it at all. Won’t be going back. Started with the semolina cakes, which are apparently famous there. They were super average. We also got the salt cod which was gross. Entrees were a pasta, which was terrible, and the flounder which was doused in an extremely sweet Hawaiian tasting sauce. The best part of the meal was the kale side, which was sautéed kale with olive oil. For dessert we got almond cake and a Chocolate thing. Almond cake was very dry and chocolate thing was decent. My wife loves dessert (especially anything almond) and was really angry she wasted the calories.
There are so many better places to go if you are looking for a good or even decent meal. I’m really disappointed, I’ve heard this place was so good, but it is not. At all.
Was great! One of the best italian meals (esp pasta) I’ve had whe living in Boston. Great service and ambiance. Highly recommend.
Felt rushed by server
The wait to get a table at Giulia is worth it. Excellent service from Kerry-she answered all of our questions and even suggested a delicious wine to drink at dinner. Food is very delicious and it is the perfect portion! The drinks are absolutely delicious as well. You can't go wrong by dining at Giulia!
Overpriced and underwhelmed. Too much fat -butter, cream & cheese -- anyone can make food taste good that way - but it's heavy and unhealthy. Their fare pales beside the great taste yet lighter sauces that we ate in Italy.
I dined with my family which is a group of 4. We shared 2 appetizers and each tried one another's dishes. Overall the food was mediocre at best. Some of the dishes tasted outright bad and others were pretty good, but nothing about it was exceptionally good. I kind of expected more so it was a disappointment and I don't think we'll come back.
Lovely evening all around everything was exceptional. A really special evening
Finally made it here after trying to go a year before for my birthday and I was not disappointed. The pasta was great and the portion sizes are just enough to leaving you feeling satisfied, but not stuffed. Great ambiance and service too!
WORTH THE HYPE. We had an amazing meal with an amazing server, great specials, and a wonderful evening. Fully lives up to its hard-to-attain reservation status.
My group enjoyed our drinks, wine, appetizers, small plates, and dessert but the entrees were way below our expectations and quite off the mark from everything else we dined on. I was told this was 'the' restaurant in Cambridge but it missed the mark for me.
Creative tasteful and varied menu, well executed, with pleasant staff. Great good but with causal ambiance.
Exceptional dining experience!
My sweet potato agnolotti was to die for!
My husband loved his octopus and squid dish.
Can't wait to go back!
Once again this gem exceeded expectations. We came for a birthday celebration, which they observed without creating a huge fuss--just perfect. Our meals were extraordinary. I am vegetarian, but no one else in our party is, which means we need both good veg options and your usual meat eater delights. Everything was spot on from the wine to the appetizers all the way to the exceptional desserts. Service is low key, attentive but not intrusive. It's hard to maintain excellence over time, but they are doing it. We were there on one of this winter's coldest nights, and frankly were concerned it might be cold. It was both literally and figuratively warm inside.
Best meal I’ve had in ages. A special place.
The food at Giulia never disappoints -- fresh, flavorful, complex, delicious. Everything we ordered was tasty -- semolina cakes, burrata, gnocchi with lobster, pappardelle with wild boar -- and the wine was excellent. This servers are friendly, knowledgeable and efficient, but never pretentious. The atmosphere is relaxed but festive. It's our favorite restaurant in Cambridge (where there are now a number of excellent places to choose from).
Really Bad experience at Giulia. The only redeeming quality of the restaurant was our waitress who was kind and professional. Though the rest of the staff that we interacted with were rude, unprofessional and offensive. I had a special request due to physical limitations and the staff seemed so put out, annoyed and frustrated by my request that I actually over heard them complaining and poking fun about it. Needless to say the service was horrible and I would not pay an average of $30 a plate to be made feel like I’m an inconvenience. There are plenty of good restaurants in Boston and the service would be 100 times better than this place. On a sidenote, genuinely did not like the food and didn’t even finish what I was eating. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Really.
I usually give Giulia 5 stars for everything, but this last time we went the service was not as good as usual (e.g., wine glasses taken away before our bottle of wine was finished!).
