Very good for a group. Quiet enough to hear. Food was great. I got the linguine with clams and it was excellent.
Wonderful atmosphere for a recent mid-week date night. The fried mozzarela appetizer was so-so, but the rest of the food fantastic. Especially enjoyed the Linguini Frutti de Mare (sorry if I'm misspelling it!), while my wife enjoyed the eggplant parmesan. The spiced pears with ice cream dessert was fabulous. Service was excellent. The tables are close and on a quiet night it was impossible to not overhear everyone else's conversation, which put a bit of a damper on ours. Will definitely go back.
Made reservations and when inget there they were closed!!
My go-to when in Washington! Service, menu, atmosphere - everything is always top-notch! I real gem in a city where everyone thinks they're a foodie!
Always s the same comment:
Great veal scaloppini. Get hot bread and larger olives for the drinks.
Dinner was perfect, service was great and the food was comforting. Elegant and simple delicious Italian food.
The service is supreme. Food was good. The place is charming and unique.
A wonderful dinner and delicious food! Could not have asked for better service and a memorable night!
Came in to DC from NOVA with 3 other couples to see a show and have dinner. Had a hard time finding something close to the Mayflower Hotel where our evening started that had dinner seating available. I Searched online, found Giovanni's Trattu and they had an opening for us so I booked a reservation. We arrived 15 minutes ahead of our reservation and our table was all set and waiting for us. The ambiance of the intimate restaurant was very pleasing and the food and service along with the reasonable price, had us all agreeing we would come back for another visit.
Excellent food and service, family style seating, so romantic prices without romantic seclusion. Some seats are tight fits but worth the close proximity to others
Some of the best pasta I have ever had! Great date night location with my husband. A+++
Low key stalwart — enjoyed a fine Chianti and a seafood special. The way life used to be before people decided to reconcept it. Tragically, however, the Spumoni proved to be elusive— I will try again.
Quaint and cozy place with pleasant and attentive service and reasonable prices. The food though was just OK. Not bad but nothing stellar.
We celebrated my 50th birthday and our anniversary there. It was SPECTACULAR. Our waitress, Gallina, was wonderful. The food was delicious! It was such a special night. Best Carbonara I have EVER had! The BEST!!!
Excellent Italian food! Very quick service, our water glasses never ran dry. I thoroughly enjoyed my pasta and would eat here again.
What a wonderful evening for the family! Fantastic food...we shared bites and all was a hit. Our waitress was a princess and made us feel so welcome. We will be back!
We went to giovanni"s for the first time and enjoyed it very much. The service was terrific and the ambiance quaint. The food was solid but not spectacular. I had the veal McCoy and wife had afredo. We woukd go again
Amazing as always! Great food, great price and excellent service!
Food was amazing and the ambiance was cute. The wife loved everything about it.
One of my favorite restaurants. Regardless of what I order it seems to always become my new favorite dish.
Excellent value. Good price for high quality meals.
Good food, but not what I expected wrt standard-named dishes. Excellent ambience with step-down small quaint room. Very attentive service without being hovering.
A great find on a side street off of Connecticut. Intimate setting, feels like a place with many regulars,
Lovely service, great food, always a treat.
Food was super delicious, I loved the lasagna and the tiramisu! Authentic and classic. Service was great too. Lovely ambiance.
Great Veal Trattu!
Martini tasted watered down and wasnt full.
Bread is awful.
Breadsticks in wrappers are just odd.
I will be back
Charming restaurant in a beautiful area with great service and delicious food. Will definitely be back. Nice Italian music playing in the background but not too loud.
Great little hole in the wall with amazing food!
Was greeted warmly and seated right away. Our server was very helpful and answered all our questions. Food was delicious
My husband claimed he had the best osso bucco ever. It’s been a week since we visited and he still talks about it. We voted this restaurant as one of our best meals in DC. The service was excellent!!
Can’t possibly get better than Giovanni’s Trattu! Angel hair pasta with sausage and their exquisite garlic bread. Service is beyond compare.
Food was good. Service was efficient but not especially friendly. Very small place with nice local feel
Great food, good service, relatively inexpensive, and a very charming atmosphere. Drinks did match the quality of the food, but it’s not really the focus.
Delicious pasta! We were looking for a traditional Italian place. This was delicious! It is small but quaint. Tiramisu was also very good!
First time and its now on my fav list. First time here and took guests. Eggplant and mixed seafood were the starters with nice red wine. Dinner were pasta dishes that were excellent. Rigatoni with sausage, ravioli dish and linguini with clams. All perfectly done. Staff was very attentive even while it was completely full. Service, Staff and Food were great!
How does it just get better and better?
Excellent service, chef is outstanding, decor is beautiful, food is amazing!
I selected this restuarant for family while on a weekend getaway. The reviews stated that it was a quaint Italian restuarant. Quaint is an understatement. The chairs were uncomfortable, with plastic backing. Interestingly, all of the waitstaff appeared to be either Russian or Eastern European. I started with an Old Fashioned (or so I was told). It was actually some pink concoction which appeared to be made from a mix, as their was some powdered slurry residual settling at the bottom of the glass once I finished the strange tasting drink. To start the meal, we were served packaged breadsticks. No butter. We ordered two appetizers for the table; the garlic bread (slightly hard) and the fried mozzarella (palatable). I had to ask about the specials, as my waitress (Kata) did not offer to tell us about them. I ordered the veal chop special. When my 3 companions received their entrees, I was not served. After about 5 minutes Kata told me that mine was "delayed" and would be out in 5 minutes. It actually arrived 13 minutes later. This is 18 minutes after my party was served; by which time they had all finished their entrees, and then had to sit while I ate the overcooked veal (Of which I ate approximately 35% before giving up). The included pasta was apparently no made fresh in house. The included broccoli and carrots were cold. To make matters more interesting, while filling the water glasses, one of the waitresses poured about 4 ounces of water from the pitcher down the back of my shirt. She apparently didn't realize that she did so, as she did not apologize, or offer me a towel. I do have to give them an "A" for consistency, as everything was consistently awful!
A quiet little place with great service and food. A real gem.
