Can’t possibly get better than Giovanni’s Trattu! Angel hair pasta with sausage and their exquisite garlic bread. Service is beyond compare.
Food was good. Service was efficient but not especially friendly. Very small place with nice local feel
Great food, good service, relatively inexpensive, and a very charming atmosphere. Drinks did match the quality of the food, but it’s not really the focus.
Delicious pasta! We were looking for a traditional Italian place. This was delicious! It is small but quaint. Tiramisu was also very good!
First time and its now on my fav list. First time here and took guests. Eggplant and mixed seafood were the starters with nice red wine. Dinner were pasta dishes that were excellent. Rigatoni with sausage, ravioli dish and linguini with clams. All perfectly done. Staff was very attentive even while it was completely full. Service, Staff and Food were great!
How does it just get better and better?
Excellent service, chef is outstanding, decor is beautiful, food is amazing!
I selected this restuarant for family while on a weekend getaway. The reviews stated that it was a quaint Italian restuarant. Quaint is an understatement. The chairs were uncomfortable, with plastic backing. Interestingly, all of the waitstaff appeared to be either Russian or Eastern European. I started with an Old Fashioned (or so I was told). It was actually some pink concoction which appeared to be made from a mix, as their was some powdered slurry residual settling at the bottom of the glass once I finished the strange tasting drink. To start the meal, we were served packaged breadsticks. No butter. We ordered two appetizers for the table; the garlic bread (slightly hard) and the fried mozzarella (palatable). I had to ask about the specials, as my waitress (Kata) did not offer to tell us about them. I ordered the veal chop special. When my 3 companions received their entrees, I was not served. After about 5 minutes Kata told me that mine was "delayed" and would be out in 5 minutes. It actually arrived 13 minutes later. This is 18 minutes after my party was served; by which time they had all finished their entrees, and then had to sit while I ate the overcooked veal (Of which I ate approximately 35% before giving up). The included pasta was apparently no made fresh in house. The included broccoli and carrots were cold. To make matters more interesting, while filling the water glasses, one of the waitresses poured about 4 ounces of water from the pitcher down the back of my shirt. She apparently didn't realize that she did so, as she did not apologize, or offer me a towel. I do have to give them an "A" for consistency, as everything was consistently awful!
A quiet little place with great service and food. A real gem.
Always a treat! Great staff, great wine and the food was delicious. Much appreciated.
Outstanding! They did this special angel hair pasta and sausage dish which was amazing! Wonderful staff!
Talk about an old school place in the basement. The decor was dated but it charmed us. The food was outstanding and the price was so reasonable for DC. Would highly recommend giving it a try! We had Marsala dish, a veal dish, and lasagna.
Best eggplant Parmesan in the city. The cappilini is superb. A very romantic little Italian restaurant in a townhouse on a charming street.
Quiet small European -like Italian restaurant near Dupont circle. We had a lunch there before going to an exhibit at the National Geographic museum.
We had the PERFECT table - front center of a cozy Venetian feel Euro cafe. Service was top notch and VERY KIND with our service dog. A definite repeat. Thank you!
Good food, great service! Nice neighborhood gem!
Great old school Italian food and service. Katya was an awesome server with a deep knowledge of the menu and wine selections. This is a quiet and intimate escapee from the busy DuPont Circle area.
Excellent experience as always! Food was amazing, the service was great.
GT is a quaint Italian restaurant. There is limited seating, so reservations are recommended. The food was amazing, all fresh and home made. I had the cannelloni and it was amazing. The best I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to visit again and go back.
Having gone there before I was trying to be open-minded by trying it again. The veal scallopini was really good. My friend’s stuffed pasta dish was not. If you go get the scallopini. The bread is Awful. Looks like it has seen other service. 😲. That should be changed asap
I loved the hole in the wall vibe of this place. The service was absolutely outstanding. It was a bit noisy and hot in there however. The food was delicious. Our favorite part was the tiramisu.
Great food. Great service a must in DC!
This place is awesome
Food not bad, but the restaurant didn't smell great.
Pollo Marsala was excellent! Fresh spinach and angel hair pasta. Great garlic bread and side sausage.
Charming, out-of-the-way place whose entrance is tucked invitingly under a stairway. Very European. The service was attentive and helpful. The food was well prepared, in suitable quantity, and attractively presented. The decor and lighting provide a warm and comfortable ambiance. Even with half the other tables occuppied, the atmosphere is quiet and helpful to easy conversation.
Excellent neighborhood spot, good food, great value
Great restaurant. Very comfortable seating and the table were not too close together. There are a lot of pasta options. I fettuccine with mushrooms and cream sauce which was delicious. Will definitely come here agin
Nice atmosphere good food good service
One of my favorite locations for small-group, lunchtime business meetings.
Dined here relatively early on a weekday evening. The two of us were warmly welcomed, promptly seated and guided through the menu which is varied without being overwhelming. We shared a salad which was fresh and tasty. The mozzarella which came with it was excellent. My companion had a pasta dish which she declared to be to outstanding and the portion, generous. I enjoyed a veal dish which was also very nicely prepared and tasty. Both dishes were well presented and the accompanying vegetables were very good. We passed on dessert, but the cappuccino was excellent. This a smaller venue with a warm neighborhood feel. It is comfortable and easy to enjoy. Well worth the effort to find and a nice change of pace from the glitz and glitter of many D.C. restaurants.
Cute little place previously unknown to me. Food was good but not great. Inside looks a bit tired.
Great food, nice service, really pretty atmosphere that was perfect for a romantic date night.
Always a good time.
Usually have a date with my wife at least once a month here because it's our favorite place. Food is great and so is the service!
Great Venetian style Italian food. Service is a little in the slow side, but that's the Italian way. Small, quaint place. Highly recommend
I lived in DC several years and visit regularly on business and am really upset I've never discovered this hidden gem off Connecticut Ave. Solid wine choices by the glass, lovely salads, veal saltimbocca and housemade pastas that were very respectable and very authentic. This is a charming and quiet spot without a tourist in sight and with plaques on the walls for long-time guests, one of which I recognized had to have been there in the 60s and 70s. Pleasant and efficient service and a very solid value. This is worth a try!
Great experience and our server Caty was excellent! Would definitely go back if in the area again!
I was the first to arrive for lunch. Was greeted by the receptionist and seated. She immediately asked if I wanted to start off with a drink and quickly provided a nice chianti and glass of water. Very friendly lady. I looked around the room and she gave me a good history of the restaurant, sensing my curiosity. When my companion arrived she also asked about starters. Finally, she gave us menus and advised on the special of the day. My friend had the lasagna and raved about it. I had the stuffed flounder and it was fantastic. All in all, this was a great dining experience and I'm looking forward to returning.
No question. I have been here for many years but it was my first visit. Reminded me of the Italian restaraunts in New York in my youth. Food is good. Service is prompt and price is very reasonable compared to other Italian restaraunts in the area. Lunch time was quiet.
Charming, tiny, lovely setting and waitress.
