Giovanni Ristorante & Bar Italiano Ratings and Reviews
Even with our reservation, I found the long wait unacceptable. We were seated quickly, but it took our server nearly 20 minutes to acknowledge us. We finally got our drinks at the 30 minute mark. The food was delicious, but I had to have the manager intervene do two things taking so long. I definitely don't plan on going back there on a weekend, it was just way too busy.
My favorite spot in Naples, it's tradition I have to go every time i'm in town! We had a brand new waiter Vinny, he was awesome! Came back a second time several day's later and Vinny wasn't our waiter, but he saw us and kept stopping by to check on us! A+ And as always the food was amazing! Missing it already!
This visit was the first this year. Last year we went four or five times. The restaurant is about 10 or 11 miles away from our home in Lely estates. This was the first time I ever had a poor waitress. She made ups wait at least 10 to 12 minutes for filling our water glasses. Another waitress who was passing by went to get the water that ou waitress saw coming, she took the tray away and delivered it herself. The cocktails and dinners were superb when we were finally able to place the order. But the memory of the poor beginning was still there.
We'll be backbit only if we have a different waitress.
Giovanni’s is my absolute favorite Italian restaurant in Naples! We were there on a very busy night and the waitress could not have been better and the chef’ meals were superb! The garlic knots are to die for and if you love eggplant parmigiana, they have the best! Crispy, cheesy goodness!
We have eaten at Giovanni's many times; however, this visit was disappointing. The waitress was apparently new and unfamiliar with the restaurant's menu. We had invited friends to be our guests and the service was terrible. Two entrees came out before the other two. When the others arrived, the first two had to be returned to be heated because they were cold; therefore, we did not all eat at the same time. We had to keep asking the waitress for things that should have been automatic. An apology was offered but nothing was offerd to us to compensate for the poor service.
I would return for Happy Hour but not to have a meal.
I am visiting from NJ and my parents wanted to take me to a nice Italian restaurant to celebrate my birthday. We all ordered something different (chicken parm, chicken marsala, pasta with calamari and pasta Bolognese and we each enjoyed our meals. Our waiter Andy/Drew (sorry I cannot remember his name) was fabulous. At the end.of our meal he brought over a piece of delicious chocolate cake and they all sang to me.
We ate early at Giovanni’s and were greeted immediately by the hostess. Very friendly. She offered us a booth or table. Lighting is a bit dark making it hard to read menus but we just used our iPhone light. Our waitress was great. She took our drink and appetizer orders and was quick about getting us going. The garlic rolls weren’t ready but when they finally were- OMG - they were fantastic. I ordered chicken parmigiana and my husband and sister ordered lasagne. Our meals were really good. My sisters husband is Italian and she raved about the lasagne. Only disappointment was the chocolate cake for dessert. We shared a piece which tasted dry and there are way to many chocolate chips in the frosting. So not a rich, moist cake at all. Overall a great place and definitely will return. Just won’t order the cake!
They have the best garlic rolls I've tasted ! I always get the Antipasto Caldo as an appetizer which is delicious ! Some of the entrees are a little bland in my opinion. My husband's choices have been better . It's worth going in and checking the place out . Our service has been great there every single time .
We had dinner at Giovanni last evening with three other couples and we all liked the food and service very much! I like the dark ambiance which is cool and relaxing after coming in from the heat and humidity outside. It has the feel of a Las Vegas off the strip restaurant. The dinners we all had were so enjoyable and our waiter was prompt and efficient. This was the second time in the past week that my wife and I dined here and we will visit here regularly as we now live here full-time. Notable dishes that we had were the shrimp oreganata, tuna livornese, and the filet of sole, all served with delicious pasta. Portions are ample, not over the top. One other highlight is that all wines on the wine list are 1/2 price if ordered before 6:30 p.m. with 2 entrees. The wine list is very good with stalwarts such as St. Francis, K-J, Cakebread, etc. Don't let the strip mall setting fool you, this is a first class restaurant.
Reservations at 6:30. Never got food until 8:pm. Completely unacceptable. The food is very good; however this is the second time at Giovanni's and the first time the service was not good. The second time absolutely terrible. We'll never go there again. Hire more staff for goodness sake. Value your customers. The waitress gave us 3 free desserts; however, that didn't make a bit of difference.
