Giovanni Ristorante & Bar Italiano Ratings and Reviews
Have been the Giovanni's several times with good food and service. This occasion service was very poor and food was so so. Food took over 1 hour before served. Waiter talked with guests at next table for about 10 minutes before finally making a first visit to our table. He blamed the slow food delivery on a large party however others who had been seated after us were served.
Always enjoy; always look forward to the visit. Two problems this visit...with a reservation for four the table (booth as requested) was only set for two and was reset while we were seated at the table and waiting for friends; then the service was much too slow.
Giovanni's is an Italian restaurant, just outside The Vineyards in Naples. They have wonderful food, tasty without being overpriced and the portions are not too large nor too small. They seem to use fresh ingredients and home made style food...doesn't have that out of the jar taste.
The service was great. Our wait staff was energetic, knew the entire menu and could answer your questions on the dishes.
My only negative comment is if you wanted a quiet romantic dinner, this is not the place. The crowd is lively and so the noise level is up there. But you don't eat noise, you come to eat the food. If you do, you won't be disappointed.
Our service was rather disappointing, This was the second time we have had this waiter. Service was awful. Andy I believe was his name. Having a group of ten, was a problem because Our food did not come out all at the same time, plus a few people said their food was cold. I feel really bad, because Giovanni's was my suggestion. Having eaten there for the last several years, and having good food and good services, this totally disappointed me and my guests
The management does not know much about doing business. My friend had a bottle of oil spilled down his back by a server. Not only would they not replace his brand new shirt, but they refused to pay the cleaning bill. They were charged full price for their meal. Needless to say, they won’t be going back...
The best thing about this restaurant is the special wine value before 6pm You can
get a bottle of wine for half price. Also the garlic bread is very good. Very disappointed
this time with our entrees.....sauces were very runny. Will not be rushing back.
too many good restaurants in Naples.
We ate here before seeing Night Lights in the Garden. I requested a high chair through the app, and it was all ready for us when we arrived. Our waiter was awesome and attentive. Food is always delicious here. It wasn’t too packed when we went, but it usually is when I order take out. There was no changing table, but I was told they’re working on it. The parking lot is right there so it was no trouble to go outside. We are lucky to have such delicious, authentic Italian food so close to us. One of our favorite in Naples.
The food was excellent as always; and the service was good. The only exception was the hostess who insisted we accept a poor table when the restaurant was 80% empty. In addition, we had edited our Open Table from 2 to 4 persons; however that never made it to the restaurant.
Even with our reservation, I found the long wait unacceptable. We were seated quickly, but it took our server nearly 20 minutes to acknowledge us. We finally got our drinks at the 30 minute mark. The food was delicious, but I had to have the manager intervene do two things taking so long. I definitely don't plan on going back there on a weekend, it was just way too busy.
My favorite spot in Naples, it's tradition I have to go every time i'm in town! We had a brand new waiter Vinny, he was awesome! Came back a second time several day's later and Vinny wasn't our waiter, but he saw us and kept stopping by to check on us! A+ And as always the food was amazing! Missing it already!
This visit was the first this year. Last year we went four or five times. The restaurant is about 10 or 11 miles away from our home in Lely estates. This was the first time I ever had a poor waitress. She made ups wait at least 10 to 12 minutes for filling our water glasses. Another waitress who was passing by went to get the water that ou waitress saw coming, she took the tray away and delivered it herself. The cocktails and dinners were superb when we were finally able to place the order. But the memory of the poor beginning was still there.
We'll be backbit only if we have a different waitress.
