We went for an early Valentine’s Day dinner and were greeted with spectacularly attentive and friendly service. The staff was very patient as we stewed over what to order. We ended up ordering the three-course pasta journey; with some recommendations we chose the spinach & ricotta girasoli (creamy and smooth), lobster mezzaluna (sharp and savory), and the lamb sausage orecchiette (hearty and zesty). Everything was delicious, and even though we were completely full after the pasta journey, we still savored every last bite of the smooth and tangy panna cotta.

We chose to do the flight of 3 pastas. Each one was delicious. The service is not that great and this is more of tourist trap being next to Chelsea Market. Also, the tables are very small and uncomfortable to sit at, especially with the bar across the table legs making it impossible to slide your chair close to the table.

My daughter has peanut and nut allergies. My daughter ordered the pumpkin ravioli, which had a pretty long description of the dish on the menu. No where did it say this dish had nuts. We asked if the restaurant used any peanut oil. The server did not ask if we had any other food allergies and we assumed that since the description did not have nuts that there were no nuts on the dish. When the dish arrived it was clear that there was some sort of nut on top. When we asked it took 4people to get to an answer which was, yes, it had a candied nut topping, then another one to figure out what kind of nuts. We ordered another dish for our daughter. when the bill came we were told that the restaurant took off the charge for the pumpkin ravioli that was sent back to the kitchen. There was no offer of a free dessert for my daughter, who at that point, didn’t want to eat anything for fear of contamination, or an apology by anyone involved. they never even came back to make sure everything was ok. They acted as if we had somehow inconvenienced the wait staff. The food itself was actually very good but because of the way we were treated I can not recommended this restaurant to others.

Pasta journey was the way to go! We did 3 pastas for a group of 6 ppl and it was perfect way to taste different dishes and enjoy conversation without being rushed!!

First of all, the meatballs and the wine we ordered to start we're fantastic. But, be sure to specify food allergies because they don't ask regularly nor are there known allergens listed under menu items.

The food is excellent and so is the service. Two things were not so good, though. The place was extremely noisy (though it wasn't even full) and the temperature was not controlled. They have us a table near the door and we froze every time somebody entered or left, which was every ten minutes, by the way.

It was my birthday and it was the second time I chose Rana to enjoy it with my friends. Food is yummy and on point. Wait staff was a little hovering but overall fine. The vibe is good and since it is in the market, good to walk around in afterwards. I will be back!

The menu on open table had 10 items I would have ordered so we took a chance: the menu in the restaurant Had 1 of those 10 items Service was slow; our waiter changed half way thorough the meal and so the new waiter never brought half our dinner. Food tasted soso; I was very unimpressed and won't return.

This is a very good place to eat. The food was great. The service the night we went was slow but overall it was a good diner experience. It is a litter over priced but then again this is New York City. I did like the decor of the restaurant and the lighting was just right. We did go at night and that brought out the ambience of it.

All set for a Christmas Dinner- booked weeks ahead- it started poorly, with waiter who came and went and came and went, not really that interested in us, so we had to have the manager wait on us- eventually, when we said no one was attending us- then, the meal- nice pasta three plates except that no one told us that they were three samplers, not a main meal, and so we finished feeling starving- and had to order spaghetti and meatballs- I have never had an experience in a pasta meal where you leave feeling less that full, but Rana managed it- then, the manager knew we were struggling with the whole deal and kindly offered us two deserts- ( just) there were 6 of us, but that did not blunt the shock of a 400 Plus dollar bill, that included two cups of hot water- for 5 dollars each- that was the tipping point and we told the manager that we would not pay for such below par service on christmas day, with our family. It totally ruined the experience we set out to have. She was a bit taken aback and slashed the bill dramatically, but even that outcome will not erase the bad taste in the mouth of a pasta restaurant that serves starvation portions and charges royalty rates. We knew that NYC would be expensive but for one meal,???? this was totally unacceptable and I have been telling my friends here to give the place a big miss- it was insulting. It made a mockery of our christmas plans. The only positive that my complaint saved us 300 dollars!!! never had that happen before.

Pasta dishes were okay to good. I would not visit again, but I would buy their uncooked/raw fresh pasta to go and make my own at home. Love their pasta products! Service was okay, but given the place was empty they staff became helicopters over us, interrupting our conversation a few times to ask us non-urgent questions. My advice to them: learn to slow down and get in sync with customer's pace instead of circling them like a shark. Lastly, despite my telling the host I had a reservation with OpenTable, which btw they confirmed on their reservation system, they still listed me as a no-show, after which I had to call OpenTable customer service to reinstate my reservation and receive the 100 point award. Staff not thinking or sufficiently engaged in their work?

My wife and I came for Thanksgiving with our 11 old month son. They let us sit 45 minutes earlier than our reservation which was awesome. The server was very nice and accommodating. My son was on the outside toward the aisle and all of the busboys, servers, etc were all stopping to say hello to him. The highlight though was one of the line cooks was walking downstairs and saw him so on his way back he stopped and gave my son 2 fresh strawberries to nibble on while we waited for our food. It was an amazing gesture and one that I appreciate very much. He didn't have to go out of his way so it made me very happy. The food is also amazing. The prosciutto and Parmagiano Reggiano fritters are a must have and all of the pasta dishes are fresh and cooked perfectly al dente as they should be. Do yourself a favor and eat here. You will not be disappointed.

Atmosphere and service were good, food was so so. Had linguine and did not taste as fresh or delicate as described. “Lump” crab was shredded and old. Sauce was very sweet.

Have to be honest here, after all the hype I️ was pretty disappointed. Drinks were really weak, food was on the salty side and service made us feel like they forgot about us a few times during the night. Probably won’t be returning unless I’m invited to another pasta making event (those are fun, though!)

Service, food and atmosphere were amazing. We started with some small plates-all were flavorful and fantastic, moving onto to Pastas- freshly made with fresh ingrediants, then coffee and dessert...Great experience, we will return.

I am from Canada and was looking online for a place to reserve a table for my friends and family to share a meal following my art exhibition opening in Manhattan. As it turns out, I could not have chosen any wiser!! The food and service exceeded all expectations! Thank you Giovanna Rana!! I cannot imagine returning to NYC and not coming back for a meal.
