Gio's Ristorante and Bar Ratings and Reviews
Very poor service. Waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for food to be delivered to the table before telling the waiter we were leaving and cancel the order. People who were seated after us received their food and left before u. We never received our order. Just bread a one salad and an appetizer.
We made pre-game reservations. Our drive was > 3 hours but we left early enough that we were going to be an hour earlier than expected. I called and the graciously changed us. When we arrived, there were signs up saying they were closed for a private event. I was concerned we were in the wrong spot, but when I asked, they said, "Oh no, we were expecting you." We were seated away from the large group (who arrived a little bit later). Our server, Mikayla, was great and we took the internet's advice and got the gooey butter cake. I suggest you do too! It was a great pre-game meal and we will be back in the future.
We dined at this establishment for downtown STL restaurant week. It was out first time eating here. We definitely enjoyed the food. The entrée portions were a little small, but made up for it with the dessert portions. Love the gooey butter dessert !!! Our server (Michaela) was very personable and attentive. Thanks for a great evening !
Restaurant temperature was stuffy. Almost thought of leaving but stayed for pizza appetizer and grouper main dish. Food was very good, thin crust pizza baked to crispy perfection and the grouper with veggies was prepared well. Decent wine list and great martini. Wait staff could have been a bit more attentive but was adequate for after the ball game at Busch Stadium.
I went there for a graduation dinner with my family. The appetizers were delicious but the food was subpar. Out of 8 entrees only 5 people actually got what they was expecting. One entree was suppose to have penne but spaghetti noodles was mixed in with it. The Alfredo sauce in another meal taste more like peanuts and the portions in an entree was smaller than before. The worst part is that it took so long to get the food. It took about 45 minutes for our appetizers and another 45 for our meals.
Although the food was fairly good, it took way too long to get it, others in the restaurant actually got up and left...waitress was very nice, not her fault the kitchen was under staffed, she kept apologizing when we did actually see her..sorry to say wouldn't recommend unless you have plenty of time to wait for food.
This is one of the best italian restaurants I have been to in a long time. Food was incredible. Server was very informational which was pleasant due to my allergies. The server really did her best to accomodate me. Great ambiance. All around great restaurant in the city.
We had a nice time, the food was decent, the waist staff polite. Noise was a bit high but there were some boisterous new year's patrons which I assume isn't the norm. We didn't know we'd have a view of the dome and arch which was a nice surprise that we were not expecting.
Waited 5 minutes at the door before anyone offered to take us to a table. We ordered a $16 bottle of wine for 3X the price at this restaurant. The waitress spilled wine on the white table cloth. The bread was standard store bought bread, you could tell it was not freshly baked. The Orichiette was standard and good, the chicken parmesan was nothing to write home about. The dessert was great, though not traditional italian dessert (no tiramisu or cannoli). Watched the new years fireworks from the table with an unobstructed view, best part of the meal. Overall, average quality and good service.
We've walked by Gio's for years on our way to Busch Stadium from the Keiner West Parking garage before the Cardinals games. So happy we stopped by for dinner before the Blues game. We were greeted and seated immediately; our server was excellent; very customer service friendly and efficient. Dinner was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a great place downtown to eat. We're looking forward to going back.
The Calemari and the wedge salad were just okay, but the risotto was good, and my wife liked her pasta too. The merlot served by the glass was very nice. Service was a little slow. It is a beautiful restaurant inside, and we could easily walk to the Blues game nearby.
This place was advertised as an Italian restaurant but was really a Sports Bar! It seemed old and out dated and the bathroom was disgusting and unkept. The food was OK...nothing special. It was also advertised as having a great view but the room with the view of the Arch was closed . It was more of a Cardinal's fan hang out. Our waitress was on the other hand, very attentive and helpful!
I had a business lunch at Gio's and they were great. The food was delicious and the service excellent. I had the special veal parmesan which was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend Gio's for business lunch for sure. I have also eaten here for dinner before a baseball game and was equally impressed.
We came in for my best friend's birthday, and our dinner was EXCELLENT as well as the service!! My friend had the Grilled Cesare Salad and Veal del Giorno, and I had the Wedge Salad and the Grilled Sirloin Modega. It was sooo good!! Would definitely recommend both dishes! Nice ambiance for a birthday dinner or for anytime!! Will definitely be back!!
